Who: Alhaitham & Kaveh Status: Closed Where: Wherever the whimsy takes them What: Kaveh's birthday! But also of waltzes, more slice of life and the usual chaos gays Warnings: ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโ๐
[Alhaitham makes no effort to hide the wistful sigh that escapes him when Kaveh leans back, and rests his hand right over his husband's hip, thumb idly rubbing over the seam of that corset.]
Only because you asked nicely. [And also because its so close to Kaveh's birthday, and he still very much remembers how much Kaveh enjoyed the last time they'd danced. If a dance is all that he needs to do to make his husband happy, then Alhaitham sees no reason to deny him.]
[It's a bold lie and they both know it, but why spoil the mood with facts? Kaveh just laughs more brightly, taking Alhaitham's hand in his and settling his other one on his shoulder.
They're not professional or even very practiced dancers. But dancing together is something Kaveh's come to truly cherish whenever he can convince Alhaitham to do it. And he's starting to suspect Alhaitham won't ever actually refuse the request.]
[That bold-faced lie earns Kaveh a small huff and a roll of his eyes, but he otherwise says nothing to refute it for this instance. He curls his fingers into Kaveh's and places down his glass onto the railing so that its free to now rest in position at the other's waist.
No words need to be said; as soon as they're both set Alhaitham starts them right off with some simple steps to help them fall in time with the music playing from inside. Dancing is truly in neither of their repertoire of skills, Alhaitham has no intention for it to be still, but he can't deny that there is something wonderful in holding his husband like this and letting themselves enjoy the sway and beat of music in a way that's different from what they would usually do otherwise.]
[As much as they enjoy their...marital activities, Kaveh does also find some joy in things like this--simply being close to each other, in perfect--if slightly clumsy--sync together. Two years ago, he couldn't have begun to imagine they'd be at a place like this. Not simply back to how they'd been in the Akademiya, but closer, their foundations finally built on true understanding, and not the assumptions they'd made about one another.
It is Alhaitham's companionship that keeps Kaveh afloat when his mind drifts back to the dark nadir of his guilt and sorrow--likewise, it is that steady hand that keeps him steady when his mind outpaces the limits of his body. The ebb and swell of Kaveh's heart, the weal and woe of his life and luck, is no longer something he has to face alone. There is someone there to help bring him back to shore.
When he thinks of it like that, he can't help but smile.]
[Alhaitham will always take any chance given to be close to his husband, and this instance is no different. Still, even with that said... it wasn't like this not so long ago, was it? It's still easy enough to recall how things had been like when he first arrived here a year and a half ago nowโthe terse stalemate hanging between them, the way their broken edges had not yet smoothed, still all too willing to cut into each other if necessary even though they both knew that there was nobody else they could trust more than one anotherโ
โbut things are so very different compared to then; now, there is unspoken and mutual understanding between them, and in the times when there isn't they have learned how to talk about it, to communicate and share instead of making unwarranted assumptions. That they will be there for each other through thick and thin, weal and woe, in sickness and in health. Aspects of a life Alhaitham had never truly considered until Kaveh came into it, shaped it and showed it to him, and now he knows full well that he'll never let this go. Even though they're on another world, so far away from both Sumeru and Teyvat, this is more than enough for him to fight for.
He watches the way Kaveh smiles, bright and brilliant, and its enough to have his heart swell as a similar smile comes up onto his face in returnโthat, alongside with a particular gleam of mischief, and its the only warning that Kaveh has before Alhaitham suddenly brings him into a twirl. Of course, he's hardly practiced in such maneuvers, so there is a very real possibility for them to trip over each other's feet if they're not careful enough.]
