[Daqiang had come across the young odd-mortal while exploring the lava fields. He'd had half dozen of the fire sprites following along behind him, darting around his feet. Some climbing up his clothes and attempting to steal from his sleeves, only to be shaken off. Those that remained at his feet and behaved themselves were occasionally rewarded with a small bloom of blue fire - barely more than a match stick's worth of power - that they then consumed with all the decorum as a child being rained on by candy. It seemed to effect the sprites much the same way, too. They got very hyper for a little while, turning blue and zooming off over the landscape, coming back to try and get more.
However, when Daqiang met the young man, they were close enough to the sulfur fields that even as the sprites took interest in Alhaitham's presence, they began hanging further and further back. Until only one remained, clinging to Daqiang's robes (which had not caught on fire despite the small train they had dragging against the hot ground). Event that one muttered about how scary the 'big, scary, flaming animal' was and eventually dropped away as Daqiang continued on.]
