[Very awkward. Especially if he does have a coughing fit! He's trying his best to suppress the pain in his lungs already!! Strangely enough, now that he's settled where is for the moment and takes a second to get his thoughts straight... He finds it a little easier to breath than he did a moment before falling into the pit. But that doesn't help with the awkward part.
Joshua has to shift just slightly so that his leg isn't cramped up. It makes him realize just how boxed in he is with the stranger and how close the other person is. He does his best to hold still. Although it makes him slightly nervous.
He tries to see what he can see but it is very damp and dark...]
If not metal perhaps it's a natural sinkhole of some sort...?
