She didn't look back up at Ashe as she said it, and it wasn't easy to pin down the reason she didn't want to. The pendant tucked into her clothes, the memory of Lenna requesting passage as Tycoon's princess and Faris' reaction to it, finding out that the batty old geezer she'd been fighting for months was actually a king... they all swirled around in her mind.
And at the end of it all was the irrefutable fact: they were in a pirate ship, run by pirates. It was admittedly a pirate ship on a wholly different planet where ransom was unlikely to be possible at all, but that didn't mean it was a good idea to go around advertising it.
