Everything was always simple: have sex or don't have sex; push people away who get close. But Alucard has changed all the calculus of everything and he doesn't respond in any of the ways Astarion expects.
Maybe he should be more worried about himself than Alucard. Alucard seems to understand all of this somehow, and Astarion is woefully equipped. He simply watches him roll over and then move away, and the bed feels cold and empty as he does.
