What: The grand opening of a book cafe.
Warnings: God I hope not.

[Kaveh hasn't talked much about what he's been working on for a few months now, because he wanted this moment to be a surprise (and because he didn't want to be scolded for overwork). It has finally paid off, now, with the grand opening of the Surasthana Cafe, just in time for the deep end of the fall season. The cafe is cozily furnished and warm, the smell of lovingly brewed coffee floats through the air, and soft music plays from Mehrak.

Kaveh isn't expecting a huge rush on any given day--this was done for his own sake more than anything, but now on weekday afternoons, the little book cafe can be found and people can stay a spell, enjoying expertly made coffee drinks and some light reading in a ridiculous plant paradise.

If you have any requests for new kinds of books, or wish to purchase various accessories, stop by the front counter! The owner is happy to accommodate you, after all.

[Of course Lyney would want to investigate Kaveh's new business, which also means inevitably running into Alhaitham. Honestly, he'd be more surprised if the man weren't here, given that the cafe has 1) books, and 2) Kaveh. So of course once he sees the man in question, he makes his way over to him.]

I must say, this place is certainly something special! Did you also have a hand in its design?

[There is also the fact that Kaveh did kind of also build this place for Alhaitham so it would only be rude for him to not be here. He knows better than most the real intent of what this place signifies, and to disregard that does not help anyone.

But all of that aside, Alhaitham gives Lyney a pointed look at the question, answering it as flatly as one is humanly able to achieve.]

[...and that's all he will say before returning to his book that the Fontanian had so rudely interrupted him for.]

[Sorry, Alhaitham, Lyney isn't going to be dismissed so easily. That pointed look brushes past him like water off a duck's back, and he chuckles a bit before moving to pull a chair over and sit down before him.]

Well, that's alright. But you surely had an idea with the books being sold, yes? Or are aware of them?

[Well if Lyney thinks this is all that it takes for him to get any attention then he will have another thing coming!!

Because the only thing Alhaitham will do here is to pointedly continue to read his book. And also turn on his noise cancellation in the process. If he doesn't perceive you Lyney then you don't exist. Always a 100% foolproof plan, clearly.]

[Well, now, how rude..! And Lyney wasn't even trying to be annoying or mean! He just wanted to make some small talk! Then again, Alhaitham has proven he doesn't truly appreciate the Fontainian pleasantries that come packaged with a request. Best to cut to the chase, then.]

[With a sigh, Lyney will knock on the table before Alhaitham, waiting to get his attention again. When he does, he'll speak.]

Alright, I didn't come here to annoy you. I actually need your help with something.

[Alhaitham does in fact appreciate it when people cut out the bullshit, as it were, so he does eventually look over to Lyney when the Fontanian gets his attention with the table. Which he clearly does not appreciate, given the still less than pleased look on his face.]

What. [He asks, voice so very flat. It's obvious that he has very little patience with Lyney and is only putting up with him for Kaveh's sake. His senior would be mad if he caused a scene here, after all.]

[Well, at least he's listening again. Lyney drops the flamboyance from his voice, enough that it's actually noticeable from his usual manner of speaking, to speak plainly to Alhaitham.]

I'm looking for some book recommendations, if you're able to offer any. I as because I'm looking for a gift for Heizou. I know he likes to read detective novels, but I've already gotten him a few since coming to this world and I don't want to get him just another of the same. Yet, I find myself at a bit of a loss for other topics that may pique his interest. That's why I thought you might be able to help me. I figured if anyone could be considered an expert about books, it would be you, would it not?

[Actually Alhaitham still has his noise cancelling on so he can't actually hear anything that Lyney is saying out loud, but he can read lips, so that's what he's settling on right now. It makes things more tolerable this way.]

... [Alhaitham doesn't respond immediately, mostly because he's debating a little if he even wants to answer the question. He certainly still isn't going to be a fan of Lyney's anytime soon, but this is a gift to Heizou, who Alhaitham minds considerably less (even if he will remain judgemental of the Inazuman's choices, but whatever).

But at the end of the day the idea of Heizou getting a book is enough for Alhaitham to relent, so he proceeds to rattle out an address to a bookstore on Nogard, then adds on:] Fifth shelf from the right most corner, unless they've changed the configuration of how they display their stock since the last time I was there.

[And now that you have your answer Lyney, Alhaitham will go back to reading his book.]

[Lyney waits for a moment, almost expecting Alhaitham to blow him off or snark back at him. But then Alhaitham surprises him, actually offering him some guidance. It's not fully what he's looking for, but he's clever enough to read between the lines and get at what Alhaitham's offering him; it's something, a direction, a line he can follow. As that realization dawns on him, he grins and nods.]

Excellent! Thank you very much, Alhaitham. I really appreciate your help.

[Whether or not he's actively listening, he's grateful. And... well, normally he'd offer his thanks and a goodbye, but Alhaitham's looking back at his book. So instead, he offers a polite bow before turning and heading off to the front counter. He'll place an order for Alhaitham, a coffee and pastry made to his liking, and then be on his way.]

[He's sure to ask Kaveh to deliver it in his stead, along with his thanks; he isn't willing to push things by leaving the offering himself.]

[Alhaitham is very much not listening at all. Or paying any kind of attention whatsoever. He's done what is asked of him, and is happy to stay with his book while he can still feel the other's presence hovering around like some kind of annoying gnat.

For better or worse, that doesn't last much longer, and a good chunk of his stress and irritation vanishes as soon as the Fontanian is truly out of both his sight and his mind. He certainly hopes there won't be another situation where he needs to deal with the other any time soon....

As for how he takes to the new order of coffee and pastry—well, that will entirely depend on how Kaveh is going to try and present it to him. But that's something that is strictly between him and his husband and thus not for Lyney to know.]
