What: The grand opening of a book cafe.

[Kaveh hasn't talked much about what he's been working on for a few months now, because he wanted this moment to be a surprise (and because he didn't want to be scolded for overwork). It has finally paid off, now, with the grand opening of the Surasthana Cafe, just in time for the deep end of the fall season. The cafe is cozily furnished and warm, the smell of lovingly brewed coffee floats through the air, and soft music plays from Mehrak.

Kaveh isn't expecting a huge rush on any given day--this was done for his own sake more than anything, but now on weekday afternoons, the little book cafe can be found and people can stay a spell, enjoying expertly made coffee drinks and some light reading in a ridiculous plant paradise.

If you have any requests for new kinds of books, or wish to purchase various accessories, stop by the front counter! The owner is happy to accommodate you, after all.

[That perks him up a tad, but even he knows that he's a picky eater when it comes to sweet things. Considering pastries tended to be sweeter side, it's probably best to leave that later when he can choose something for himself.]

Nah, you good. Was jus' jonesin' for a snack, you know? Been runnin' 'round all day an' I ain't had a bite to eat. [Then he turns to address the suitcase, a little confused as to how this would've fetched him a snack.] Sorry, li'l man. Maybe next time.

[But he might as well order a drink. Seeing tea was available, he figures he can give this one a shot:] How's 'bout boba? You got any a' that?

Boba...? [He tilts his head a little bit, confused. What on earth is a boba? That doesn't sound like something from Liyue...]

I have...fifteen blends of coffee and some tea?

[Beat what is happening here.]

[It was worth a shot. Beat just sighs, scratching the back of his head. Coffee and tea wasn't always his first option, but if that's all they had.]

Jus' gimme a cafe au lait.

[Beat, you walked into a cafe. What else did you expect?]

...Alright, I can do that.

[Kaveh manages not to make TOO obvious a face at the idea of milk with coffee in it, but he'll set Mehrak to start steaming the milk while he gets out the coffee beans. For something like this, one of the drip coffee setups would be better but he hasn't made one he's satisfied with, so he takes the cevze out and sets it on the stovetop to brew.

If nothing else, it smells amazing.]

You said you'd been running around all day--anything you're looking for?

[Whether or not he notices this, he doesn't make it known. Instead, he seems too busy looking around the place and all the books that it has to offer. This might be the type of place Rhyme would appreciate more, he can admit that much. And the smell definitely reminds him of the Hachiko Cafe back home.]

Nah, jus' checkin' the place out. Jus' got here a coupla days ago, so I'm still scopin' everythin' out.

Oh, that's pretty recent!

[Kaveh is busying himself making the cafe au lait...once Mehrak brings him the steamed milk he carefully pours the coffee into the mug and then the milk into it, right up to the top, and sets it on a plate to carry back over to Beat.]

Well, I don't have any snacks, but my husband and I have been here a long time now, so I can try to answer questions if you have any.

Hold up. Both you an' your husband wound up here together?

[That sounds as crazy as what happened to him and his sister when they ended up in the Reaper's Game. But their experience was different in comparison to how he recalls finding himself in Eltrut.]

Didn't know that sorta thing can happen. But leas' you got someone with you, I guess. [He scratches the back of his neck, the ordered drink sits forgotten for the meantime.]
