[ Zelda watches as Darin slowly approaches her, working through his disbelief. How nervous he was-- had he somehow convinced himself that she was going to say no? It seems almost laughable; after all, he basically lives with her in her apartment nowadays. It would be more practical for them to share the same house, rather than for Darin to pay rent on an apartment he never uses.
But this is about more than just practicality. This is about the two of them and whatever their relationship has become. They are best friends. They are lovers. They may or may not be considered legally married in the eyes of the law. Sharing a home will be yet another snarl in the knotted mess that is their relationship. The more they get tangled up in each other, the harder it will be to disentangle themselves when the time comes.
