[He grins at her and nods over to where he saw a small cluster.]

Try over there. We might be able to use them for the meal, too.

[She heads over to where he motions to, running her fingers through the cool, crisp water first before she starts to move some rocks around to search for them, picking up a couple already. There are some smaller fish that dart away from her hand when she reaches down, and she giggles and holds them up.]

These ones are good? ... How are we going to put them on there?

[starshower]

[She starts to flatten under his finger, and it feels... oddly nice. Too nice that she doesn't even want to admit that it does... But those ears start to droop.]

Could we... maybe move away from here too? Before... you know...

[That other slug guy wakes up.]

Yeah those should be fine.

[He's now moved towards the bushes and trees, hand rustling through the leaves and branches before cutting several.]

And we'll make the line and hooks with these.

Yeah.

[He frowns at the seabunnyloser before slowly swimming towards where the seahorse is waiting.]

...I should have brought a bag. I'm afraid you might slip out again. Maybe if there's a shell you can rest in...

[Saying that, he moves over to the nearby coral to see if there's anything.]

[The clams clatter in her hands as she brings them over, and she'll set a couple aside for them later—]

Have you done this before? Made fishing things out of whatever you could find?

[starshower]

[But she doesn't want to rest in a shell, and it's a shame he can't see the way that she is frowning at him.]

And then you'll have to carry the shell around. [Wiggling ears!!!] This is all just one big nuisance!

A lot.

[He moves them over to a good space for them to set things down and gestures for her to put the clams out on the grass in the center where he also has the assortment of reeds and branches.]

I don't carry fishing gear that often so if I'm out somewhere I just make something.

[But she'll slip out too easily!! And since he's not wearing a shirt or anything he can't tuck her in anywhere...

In any case, he's found a small, empty conch shell and has taken some seaweed to tie it around like a necklace.]

It's just for now. You're so small and light, the smallest current could carry you out for miles.

[starshower]

[She does as she's bid, fidgeting with one clam as she sits down in the grass cross-legged and watches him.]

Even if you don't have anything like this? Feels like we got lucky with these.

[flamekthunder]

In that case I just don't use a hook and just spear fish.

[He now divides things up a bit before turning to her.]

I don't have another knife so I'll have to cut things for you, but I can show you how to do the rest and what I'm doing.

[starshower]

[Is she really going to ride around in a conch shell? Yes, she is... And she's going to flutter out of his hand and towards it, trying to navigate her way inside with some trouble. He might have to guide her—]

Well, at least you would be there to catch me... Not sure how I'm expected to move around, though.

[starshower]

You can do the cutting, that's fine.

[And as she is breaking apart the clam in her hand, she looks up at him.]

What about catching things with your hands!?

I've done it, but not my preferred method.

And he's carving away at the longer branches, stripping away the bark in thin pieces so that they can be used like rope.]

[He'll help, especially to make sure she doesn't drift away until she's safely in the shell.

...Cute—]

We can figure that out once we're in a safer place.

[He carefully brings the makeshift necklace around his neck and looks down at her. He'll still keep his hand on the shell to press against his chest, but at least this way it's more secure around him.]

Just try not to fall out of the shell.

Why's that? Not quick enough?

Just a hassle.

[Slight frown.]

Easy enough if the fish are smaller, but not so if they're larger. Not to mention the mess of it all...

[That frown only gets another little laugh out of her, and she leans over to give him a kiss on the cheek.]

It's fine. I won't judge you for wanting to use a fishing rod.

[flamekthunder]

[Just a roll of his eyes.]

Not surprised you'd want to try doing it barehanded.

[Ms. Punchy.]

Don't exactly have any arms to make sure of that, but...

[There's a squeaky strained noise as she shuffles forward, and she wraps her tiny ears around the edge of the shell.]

This might work. Just tell the horse to go slowly.

Do you need my help pushing you inside?

[Push her tiny squishy butt—]

[She cracks her knuckles at that and stretches her arms up over her head.]

What, don't think I could?

[Honestly, she'd probably accidentally punch the fish to death before she even managed to catch it fair and square....]

No!

[The little spines on her body stand up on end, like a hedgehog.]

I want to be able to see where we're going.

[flamekthunder]

[That's honestly what he's thinking and his eyes might say as much before he clears his throat.]

I wouldn't say you couldn't. Anything is possible.

[He smiles helplessly at that and tries to pet her a little.]

All right... But go in further if it gets too rough. I'll try to keep it slow.
