paint the town—

[As soon as Beat sees the MANTA for working on graffiti around the leviathans, he immediately secures a couple of spray cans, a new sketchbook to figure out his ideas, and sets out to find a space he could work with.

Throughout the month, he can be found around Eltrut and Nogard, working on two different artworks in a rough graffiti style similar to the wall back in Shibuya. In Nogard, the artwork leans more towards a skull and crossbones theme, leaning into the Corsair vibe in vibrant reds, oranges, and yellow, with graffiti lettering of Corsair splashed prominently to one side. Meanwhile, in Eltrut, he goes for a tropical vibe, taking inspiration from natural habitat of the leviathan, with a few embellishments here and there—such as an eye patch on a sea turtle.

While he's laid out the groundwork, there's still more than enough space for anyone to join in on the fun, spray cans of various colors scatters by his feet. Or perhaps you even notice his sketchbook sticking out of his backpack, a few of his random sketches on the page—anything from a skateboard design, a random passer-by (maybe it's even someone your character may know) that he had been watching from a distance, or maybe even a few Pokemon he's been around of late. Whatever the case, he seems engrossed in his work, and may need more than a gentle jostling to snap out of it.]

Hold up, you want me to what?!

[If the loud exclamation isn't enough for you to investigate, you might spot him standing in front of the play group just as one of them hands him a couple of pages as part of the script. "Take your shirt off," one of them says. The rest of the group seem unfazed by the request, as if this was expected of whoever signed up.

When Beat had read the quest, he didn't get past the large text slapped on the top. You can't expect someone to read the finer print, especially when that someone just so happens to be Beat. So he, on the other hand, is absolutely fazed, going so far as to tug his shirt downward unconsciously.]

Yo, when I read about it, I thought you needed someone to rough a coupla people up!

[It did say "Slay" on the quest title, after all.]

fish in a barrel—

[Your character finds a discarded fishing rod in the middle of the shore or riverbank, a small canister of fish bait close-by. What you don't find nearby is its owner.

After a moment or two, you notice a figure standing out in the water, crouching with his hands up in the air on either side. He stands still before suddenly diving to grab at something in the water, disappearing underneath. He resurfaces eventually.

At times, he is empty-handed, sulking momentarily before moving to another spot and assuming the stance once more, seemingly in another attempt to catch something out of the water.

Otherwise, he struggles to resurface, finally breaking water with what seems to be a fish in hand. It doesn't go down without a fight, wriggling and thrashing as it tries to break free from Beat's grip.]

Ain't gonna be any easier if you don't stop movin'!

[As if it was going to talk back to him. Either way, help a guy out?]

Ain't ever said I've caught fish before.

[He almost did. Once. But it was with the rod. Which is why we find him out here proceeding with this method.]

How's that any different from what I'm doin'?

[Which isn't wrong, Beat is squatting as well as soon as he stops the motion, hands apart, ready to scoop a fish or something similar up. He almost looks like a UFO catcher from a crane game in this pose.]

... Hang on, you haven't!? Seriously?

[ Oh brother this guys STINKS

but with another sigh he'll copy that almost crane-like position. It actually doesn't look too far off from what he was already doing, but clearly Beat's doing something wrong. ]

Pah! Maybe they know you're no good at this and don't even bother comin' round.

[Does he look like the fishing type to you, Inuyasha?]

They passin' by, aight?! But they jus' keep slippin' outta my hands!

[As fish do. It's not long after when another swims by, small but colorful, which Beat attempts to scoop up. However, this one successfully swims away from his hands considering its size, leaving Beat empty-handed.]

Dammit, yo! What's a guy gotta do to catch one a' these?! [As he punches the water's surface, scaring off any other potential fish. Seems like Inuyasha was right about that part.]

[halfdog]

[ There was a small glimmer of hope when Beat had reached down to grab the smaller fish............... but honestly he shoud've known better.

He scowls, stomping a foot into the water and allowing the spread of it to get on Beat as well. ]

Well yellin' like that ain't gunna help! [ He's yelling, too. The fish are now no where in sight. ]

You've gotta let them come to you, idiot! So just shaddap and try again!

[Beat was already wet enough as it is. So, of course, he splashes Inuyasha back.







And boy does he look smug about it.]

[halfdog]

[ ……………………………




Okay but why does Inuyasha look surprised like he didn’t just cause all of this. ]

Wh- what the hell was that!?

[ GOING TO SPLASH AT HIM BACK??? ]

Don't go lookin' like you ain' the one who started this, Catboy!

[Yeah, we're still doing that.

And knowing the cats don't like water... Beat's just gonna do it again, sending a bigger splash towards Inuyasha.]

[halfdog]

OKAY THAT’S IT— ]

I already told you…

[ His eyes darken at the second splash, already soaked to the bone. With ears angrily pulled back pushes back a sleeve ]

I’m not a caaat!!

[ and will suddenly TACKLE BEAT INTO THE WATER ]

[WHOOPS, didn't think that would happen. Whatever Beat planned on saying comes out as a garbled mess as he underwater, bubbles coming out in place of words. He shoves and pushes against him, thrashing in an attempt to get out of Inuyasha's grip. Once he's free, he scrambles onto his feet!]

The hell was that for!?

[But he doesn't give Inuyasha a chance to answer, this time diving towards him. How the turns have tabled.]

[halfdog]

[ He was going to rebuttal but as soon as Inuyasha opens his mouth, he’s thrusted right back into the water.

With a yelp he’ll extend his palm all the way out, shoving it against Beat’s face in an attempt to free himself. ]

Get the hell offa me!!

[stillarhino]

[Beat holds him down for a few seconds longer before he finally pushes himself off. He breathes heavily, roughly brushing his hand against his cheek, where Inuyasha was shoving up against, slowly getting back to his feet.

Miserable, fish-less, and soaked to the bone, he looks back at Inuyasha.]

If you's done messin' 'round, I'mma get back to catchin' fish. Ain't got no time for games.

[Seems like he's very serious about needing to catch one for one reason or another.]

[ Well, Beat just might be in luck.

Because during their swimming scabble it looks like a fish that was trying to get away had somehow found it's way right into Inuyasha's mouth. Which he thought was Beat's arm. (Was he trying to bite him? Probably.)

So as the half demon emerges from the water, there it was. Right in between his teeth. ]

AAAAAAAH!!

[Birds flutter away from the nearby trees from the sheer volume.]

Don't let it get away, yo!!

[Sorry, not sorry Inuyasha, but Beat is going to just grab at that fish with both hands.]

Don't go bitin' it, aight!

[Mixed signals much?]

[ Inuyasha is just as startled as the birds when Beat lets out that scream, nearly dropping the fish from his mouth.

He didn't even realize it was technically there until this guy started to make a big deal about it, but rushing at him was even worse!

So he'll clamp his teeth harder around the fish, thrashing his head to the side so that Beat's grip will loosen from the fish. ]

Dis won's mine!! I cwaught et!

[Unfortunately for Inuyasha, Beat has no intention of letting go of the fish, now that he's grabbed onto it. He's been waiting for something like this for hours. Probably.

His grip only tightens around the fish, while his other hands moves to shove at Inuyasha's face. This poor fish sure is getting man-handled.]

Been at this for a coupla hours, yo! This one's mine, Catboy!

[Any more and he'll push the dog-demon back into the water once more.]

[halfdog]

[ He would have maybe relented a little if Beat hadn't insulted him again, so now he's not going to!!

Thrashing about in the water, he'll resist the shove to the face and use a clawed hand against Beat's shoulder as a warning sign for something more if he doesn't cut it out!! ]

'M not ah cawtboy!

[stillarhino]

But you bitin' on it like you's a cat, yo! 'Sides, whatchu supposed to be if you ain't a ca?!

[Which... is true. Inuyasha has only denied it but never corrected him.

Beat does get scratched in the process but doesn't relent. At this point, it was a pride thing, and he wasn't going to let go. Is this poor fish still even alive at this point?]

[halfdog]

[ This poor, poor fish........ it's still wiggling a little so that may be a good sign? Or maybe it was the way Inuyasha was thrashing his head around that could make it move like that.

Eventually though, with that very same pride on the line, the half demon will reluctantly spit the fish out of his mouth with an angered growl. ]

Ever heard of a dog, ya asshole!?

[Not expecting Inuyasha to relent, Beat falls backwards with the fish in hand as it's spat out, sending another splash upward. No way he's going to let go this time. It wriggles in his grasp, clearly still alive.

He surfaces a moment later, coughing as he catches his breath.]

Wait, you been a dog this entire time?
