don't be surprised what the night brings
Who: Ganondorf and YOU!
Status: OPEN
Where: Primarily Nogard and Eltrut, but also a couple Manta quests.
What: dorfs gotta dorf okay. That is, Ganondorf is up to no good, and/or preparing for no good. You know. The usual.
Warnings: Nothing to begin with, individual threads may gain warnings if anything comes up.
⚫All the monsters in your dreams - NOGARD
[While his crew may frequent Fang's taverns and pawnshops, Ganondorf - aside from overseeing the replenishment of supplies and basic unloading loot to fund send replenishment - can most often be found either by STING or through the stalls of the Black Market. The former, well, is not through any sense of obligation nor desire to help - his eyes scan solely for profit, lingering on bounties. Specifically, why such a price has been put on one's head...
But the Black Market more often catches his gaze. The desperation here disgusts him, but he's obtained more than one of his crew here- one of which he actually considers a good deal. But there's other things which catch his gaze, as he picks up an odd-looking device, the seller proclaiming it part of a great weapon...
Even more often, though? He's outside the towns and ports. Moving through the forests. The things here are so, so interesting after all, and bother him even less than the people. A pity none of them ever offer a true challenge.]
⚫ Look at all the broken things - ELTRUT
[As with Nogard, while Ganondorf can be found occasionally at the MANTA center...and oddly enough? He frequents Jolly Rogers for maps. And while here has supplies as well...
What Eltrut truly has for him are leads. Knowledge. Points to things, persons of interest. Which he doesn't mind directly following up on, in the flesh - whether it be at the Minstrel and Cask or the Anchorage.
...
There is a point, though. Where he actually goes to Under Her Wing, picking up a few odd potions- though why he needs something for sleep or relaxation is anyone's guess. Still, it's oddly...normal, for anyone who knows of his reputation, and he's oddly...not quite deferential to such a shopkeeper. But attentive?]
⚫ Let me show you every sting - MANTA BOARD
will be me - THE GRAVEN TRINKETS
[He doesn't linger long before hearing of this particular prize. The Desert Wind readies itself and is on the sea soon enough, possibly with a temporary crewmember or two who were also interested in the prizes and lending their hands. It begins with retracing the Captain's route as closely as they can, Ganondorf himself remaining on deck for most of it when he isn't outright on Megamaki, aiming to find it with the aid of his sushi sea serpant before anyone else...]
i can be - MURDEROUS AXOLOTLS
[Oh. These look like they're hunting for a job!
For this, Ganondorf attempts to chart the path of death the pair have left behind them and predict their next spot- investigating the destruction they've caused firsthand before moving to outspeed them. Surely this won't end badly for anyone involved.
Surely.]
⚫ Tie you up by your heartstrings - WILDCARD
[Can't think of anything fitting the prompts? Hit me with anything! You can find me on
artoni plurk or Discord as artoni, or DW PM me!]

THAT'S AXOLOTTA MURDERS
[From the second he saw the speck of blood on the notice and its contents, Ranma knew he had to make haste finding these chumps. It took some sleuth work, word of mouth from eyewitnesses and survivors, and more to eventually lead him to their next hit. Seeing blood and gore doesn't fray his nerves or make him queasy, but... He knows. He knows the quietus trail he's following is fresh.
Several hours ripe with murder of innocents. Senseless slaughter for reasons unknown. Whatever reason, whatever motive they may had, Ranma doesn't care. All he cares is finding them, and deciding whether he brings them back in pieces or in bags.
With his guard up and senses working overtime, Ranma's body perks at a sound. No, at... voices, talking in the distance. Survivors, or his mark. Absconding through some bushes, taking fastidious care to draw attention. The pigtailed martial artist wades through the shrubbery, getting to a sufficient spot to make out a threadbare campsite. Judging by the redden stains in the dirt and the shredded tents, this was their latest massacre.
Not that observing the surrounding grounds was necessary to deduce that, since there stood a pair of axolotls matching the description on the board.
And... they weren't alone. They weren't the only familiar faces Ranma will recognize.]

But they aren't interested in it. And while he does believe he can be patient...when one is attacked?
One defends oneself.]
You fools-!
[He deflects the strike of one trident, and rushes the other- slamming them with his raw bulk, sending them flying into the brush!...
...
Towards Ramna.
Whupsies.]
Graven Trinkets
So here they are, using their villain suit as a makeshift diving suit, diving into the wreckage and scanning with their HUD to see if they can find anything that looks like it might be good, or hold something good inside. They've got a decent supply of air and inbuilt flotation devices for when they want to return to the surface... like now, when they'll come bobbing up ...empty handed? It's perhaps odd, they've been making a good show of always coming up with something until now.)
Found a chest that looks promising, but it's stuck under more debris than I can lift. Might need Megamaki for this.
(They could have just poked the beast and asked it for its help directly... but it's Ganon's creature. Best to tread carefully and not risk treading on his toes.)
no subject
No signs of overgrowth, I assume?
[That is to say, a fresh chest - not one that's been there for a while. Either way, him taking hold of one of the ropes along the side of the ship and getting his weight off Megamaki seems indication enough that Chris is allowed to utilize the sushi dragon.]
no subject
None. Looks brand new. (Which could also just be a sign of a powerful enchantment or something... but that might be even better.
When he gets off, they nod respectfully before sending Megamaki a general idea that they have something they need it to bite/move/destroy and that it should follow them.)
no subject
Hn.
[He gives Megamaki a brief once-over as it slides over to Chris, ready and willing to help. It likes Chris! Chris feeds it!]
If it is difficult to remove, surface.
[That's literally the most he ever gives regarding 'take care', or any sort of well wishes; a command. Letting the implication of his impatience speak for itself rather than any true concern for the other party.]
no subject
(They don't think it will be with Megamaki's help.
If they do though... fortunately, their armored suit makes surfacing a relatively quick process.
For now, they'll deflate the floatation devices in their suit and let themself sink again, giving Megamaki the gentlest of affectionate mental nudges. Come on buddy, lets go tear some stuff up on the ocean floor.)
no subject
(Goldentail, to be fair, while better at understanding complex commands - often simply doesn't want to follow directions, being a cat.)
The sushi dragon guides Chris down, a hint of curiosity in its mind as to what it's going after. And just a hint of unease; it doesn't like going TOO deep, the pressure bothering it, but it'll do. To a point.]
no subject
Goldentail doesn't need to be obedient: she would probably understand concepts like "hey don't go near those lilies or you'll die."
Anyway, they'll let themself sink down to where the chest is wedged in a piece of wreckage that somehow hasn't sunk all the way to the bottom quite yet(Trapped air that isn't quite enough to make it float, maybe? Something else?) where the chest is awkwardly wedged in.
Hey Megamaki, can you help them pry the chest out?)
i thought i tagged this im sorry!!!!
Megamaki seems curious about the half-floating wreckage, and after a moment- Chris will have just a flash of its intentions before it's already moving to do them-
-that is to say, smacking the wreckage with its tail!]
Lol it's fine I'm kind of a slowass anyway

Nogard
He's not here for a chat or to browse. He has a book in his hand he's trying to sell for the highest offer he can find in this place. So he's been visiting the various stalls, getting a quote on the book before heading off to the next. A few merchants call after him in hopes he'd come back. Some sounded a bit desperate, willing to offer more for whatever that book was. Was it a special tome full of special magics, or where to find fantasical artifacts in this world? Perhaps inquire and find out.]
no subject
...and down...
At whatever...this...hedgehogman is.
The slightest of raised brows.
Meanwhile, the stall owner he's been speaking with catches sight of Shadow as well, noticing his book- and offering a quick inquiry as to what just that may be~?]
no subject
"Is that what I think it is?! Are you looking to sell it for a pretty penny? Fifteen gold dubloons for it in that case!"]
...No. [Just fifteen? Even less than the last merchant he spoke with. He's already turning to walk off.
"Wait! I'll throw in something else! What is it you're hoping to find today in the market? Something to catch the eye of your love interest? Or perhaps to expel a rival?
He stops, glancing at the merchant. They rub their hands together as Shadow returns, allowing the tall oaf to get a better look at the book in his hands. There is something is he here to look for besides money. Something that can disrupt transmissions or machines at a wide range. In case a certain doctor's robots decides to go haywire one day. Or maybe something a little more...direct.]
shadow did you find the necronomicon
Ganondorf prides himself on reading people - manipulating them, even, if need be. If the hedgehog's body language is anything like the standard humanoid's, he does believe he's picked up on something, and as he looks from the Interested merchant back to the small one...
Call it a piqued interest.]
A rival, then.
[It's an observation. Not a question. But there is still a shred of interest there.]
What sort?
[The merchant blinks up at the 'oaf', correctly reading the probe for what it is- "Now, now, friend, let me do the bargaining!"]
It's certainly a book with something forbidden inside.
"Hohoho, I know a few buyers who that would line up begging for this. Yes, yes. Now you just tell me, what it is that you need to deal with your little problem hmmm?"
He crosses his arms, staring at what was available, but doesn't answer. Doesn't point at anything. Cause someone is still lingering beside him.] Do you have nothing better to do?
something something cthulhu
[One of his hands still rests on an odd-looking knife, resting on the table. It's almost like a kukri in shape, but intricately carved- and yet it doesn't seem decorative. The lines in it almost seem like veins, or channels...]
Consider this fair play.
[There's a short 'hnh' of amusement.]
I'd offer double this merchant's offer, but you're not after dubloons. Knowing your rival means I can offer something else.
no subject
Don't speak like you know what I'm here for. [Ganon is grace with a glare from the hedgehog this time....Who has to tilt his head to see the giant oaf properly, but whatever. He's going to yank his book back, much to the distraught of the merchant and starts to walk away. Finish your damn deal then, he will go somewhere else.
...Definitely means a no to Ganon's offer.
"No, wait! Oh now look what you done. Made me lose a chance to possess a rare tome indeed."]
no subject
Ganondorf doesn't follow, though. He keeps his attention on the shopkeep.]
The little one's likely to get himself killed anyway. Easy enough for me to recover the book and bring it back to you.
But tell me what it was, first.

FOR EGGMAN; let's go! villians!
...
Said lights flicker briefly as Ganondorf places a piece in an unmistakably foolish spot, and pulls his hand fully back to signal the end of his turn.]
no subject
[Eggman has no one he considers a 'friend' in this world, and he aims to keep it that way. But that doesn't mean he's not starved for stimulation. With no Orbot or Cubot and few resources to launch regular doomsday campaigns, Eggman's had to resort to...]
[Socializing.]
[And considering his game partner, calling this socializing might be a bit of a stretch.]
[He huffs. Ganondorf's move was obviously bait. The man might be big, but he's not stupid, a fact that Eggman won't acknowledge out loud. He might not have Eggman's genius but there's something to be said for intuition.]
Before I forget, I have news. Something that may complicate things.
More flearidden furballs from my world have turned up as of late, and none of them are exactly sympathetic to my cause.
However, there are two that might prove useful and a third I have a particular newfound hatred for.
[Eggman makes his move. Not a trap, by any means. More of a waste of a play, fully expecting Ganondorf to take advantage. A sacrificial pawn.]
no subject
He learns quickly. Especially when there are patterns.
Surprisingly, he does not go for the sacrificial pawn - not directly. He takes a move that can trap it, certainly, but one that is easily avoidable even for an amateur.]
As much as the blue one?
[aka does he need to take care to avoid killing another one-]
no subject
[Eggman leans back and crosses his arms. Surely, he's considering the board, but Ganondorf has him on a tangent.]
A purple chameleon who goes by the name of 'Espio.' Adept at camouflage and stealth. Apparently he thought it would be a good idea to boast that he could get the drop on Sonic when I have failed in doing so for years.
[He combs through his mustache. He lifts a hand to move a piece, then thinks better.]
Which, gave me an idea. One I'll need your assistance for.
no subject
[Even glancing up for this.]
I can only assume he will be easier to deal with than that dark-furred one.
[Spoken with the dryness of so I met Shadow-]
no subject
[Eggman makes his move. It's completely outlandish. Is he even paying attention to the game? He smacks his piece down with an audible clack and crosses his arms proudly.]
No, the chameleon is hardly worth writing home about. He needs to be put in his place for daring to believe him superior to me.
Your power...the one that creates living puppets. I was wondering if you might spare a morsel of that power to allow a duplicate to go and cause trouble. I wager that something that can be dissolved and dismissed so readily would lend some credence to a story that our stealthy friend has become untrustworthy.
no subject
[Aaaand there Ganondorf goes making his own move. Out of pure curiosity, Eggman, how good is your visual memory? Asking for a friend.]
