Maria arches a brow at his declaration.

"Then grab a mop or help with the soup. There are more tasks than wiping it's nose, you know."

Currently Maria is helping with the nose wiping. She's just doing it by directing two fairly large scarlet birds, each holding a handkerchief in their talons. She directs one with one pointer finger and the other with the other.

Maria! Castlevania is such big nostalgia for me!

"Don't tell me what to do!"

Says the one grabbing a mop and furiously mopping up the mess around Eltrut. He's watching how she directs the birds with such precision to carry out the task though. Clever way to pull that off.

Her expression goes flat.

"Nobody is telling you what to do. Don't be a wanker."

And besides, he's picked something and is doing it! So what's he complaining about?

He gives her a dirty look as he continues mopping.

"You trying to pick a fight?"

No, Katsuki, that would be you.

Maria makes a scoffing sound at that. She directs her birds to bring the latest wiping cloth over to a big tub of others waiting to be cleaned.

"I'm a tad bit busy at the moment. If you wish to fight so badly ask me again later."

This is exactly the way to handle him. He slouches and glares but he shuts his mouth and works. And despite the bad attitude and the grumbling he does work hard. He's no slacker. Just a cranky brat.

Good because by the end of it all Maria does try to catch back up with him, if only to compliment him.

"Thank you for all of the help. I'm certain the Leviathan is quite pleased as well. It's already looking much better now."

That seems to make Maria very happy as well! She's very fond of animals after all and the Leviathans are no exception to that rule.

Katsuki has never been good with gratitude. He's been getting better about a great many things lately. But the whole interacting with people in normal ways is still a work in progress.

"...yeah, whatever. Same to you."

Is the rough response she gets while he works on cleaning up the supplies they were using.

And because he has been pushed to see that... maybe the best course of action is to talk to people more so they can figure out their situation better.

So he makes a few... weird faces as he internally fights himself. And then;

"Bakugou Katsuki." Brief and terse introduction. "Who're you?"

What a weird guy. Richter had his problems of course but by and large this fellow makes Richter look like the picture of a gregarious nature. Or so Maria thinks once he huffs out the 'yeah, whatever.'

Still an introduction deserves one back, particularly since he had shown kindness to the Leviathan. "Maria Renard."

Now that her birds are no longer needed she casually draws another glowing portal in the air for them to slip back through with little fuss. It dissipates quickly after.

Weird, rude and gruff. But not a bad person. At least. Not anymore. He watches her dismiss the birds.

"That your quirk? The bird thing?" He has figured out a lot of people here aren't from his world. But the quickest test seems to be asking about quirks. Doesn't seem to be a thing outside their world.

Quirk? That's a new one. Maria's brows perk up some.

"Is a quirk anything like magic? If so, yes. My familiars are part of my abilities."
