Who: Avalanche + Anyone and Everyone Status: OPEN!!!! Where: Seventh Heaven What: Happy Harvest and Spooky Season! Come down to the Seventh Heaven and have some fun. Warnings: Silliness, alcohol
[ There are a lot of different fillings here that he has no idea what they are. Some of the islands that they visit have some strange looking edibles. How are they going to taste in a pie? Cloud doesn't know and maybe that's part of this idea. It hadn't been one of his ideas for this, but he had helped make a lot of the pie crusts and tins and gotten the supplies. ]
...Why are there so many different kinds?
[ Cloud feels like he should be doing this with someone else. Like this should be some kind of bonding activity instead. Maybe someone should bother him. ]
đŠī¸ Pumpkin Decorating
[ Art is not one of his strengths. His pumpkin is turning out... Not as he had envisioned it. ]
Don't say anything.
[ Please spare him the laughter. Maybe he just should have painted a face on it. ]
đŠī¸ Wildcard
[ Other than this, Cloud will be around in the evenings for any one that wants drinks. He'll either be drinking or serving. Maybe even mixing. He can be one of the judges for the Treat Off as well. If you wanna just throw something at me, feel free. ]
[And who better to bother him than the resident chef herself?
Seeing Cloud looking rather put out about the pies, she finishes up mixing a drink and rushes right over... just in time to catch his mumbling as she sneaks up from behind not so sneakily.]
Part of the fun, I guess. Wouldn't be good for anyone if there was just apple.
[Tifa comes up beside him and looks over their options.]
Well, probably because if there was only one kind of pie, it would be boring.
[It might seem strange for Nanaki of all people to be here helping to make pies, but he washed his paws! He also doesn't shed (much)! Besides, he keeps eying the berry and fruit fillings eagerly, his tail swishing behind him.]
Come on, Cloud, it's not that hard! We just pick whichever looks good and go, right?
[Roxas is staring at a pie shell with a great deal of concern and possibly suspicion. It's hard to say why. Maybe it's his acknowledged lack of cooking, much less baking, ability. Maybe it's because he wasn't expecting the DIY pie experience. Maybe there's a part of him that's waiting for someone to come and help. Or maybe he just can't make up his mind about a filling.
It's hard to say, but there's a lot of focus going into this. And maybe some steam coming out of his ears.]
Pumpkins
[This activity does see a change in Roxas's demeanour.
There's still a good deal of focus, but it's mostly in keeping his hand steady. He's got a knife after all, and there's a good deal of carving to take care of. You have to get the shapes right, after all.
Especially for a traditional, triangle eyed design.
And it's a lot to make sure the knife cuts through the pumpkin.]
[Oh, someone looks very lost in thought right now. Lyney isn't about to stifle someone's creative process, but when ten whole minutes pass and the blonde hasn't moved a muscle, Lyney decides to intervene.]
[He walks by under the pretence of cleaning up a bit around the bar, before casually glancing over.]
[Once the kids and teenagers are out of the way... It's high time to kick off ADULTS ONLY NIGHT TIME! Which means drinks. And more drinks. And even more drinks.
Zack is just getting started and he's got one pumpkin cider in each hand. And he's very happily setting one of them down in front of Kaveh.]
Alright, Kaveh. Long time no drink, so we've got a lot of catching up to do.
[This forebodes well... Just don't let Alhaitham catch them getting drunk together again. Zack doesn't want a dendro sword in the chest.]
[In true Vincent fashion, he's keeping to the edges of the festivities unless someone drags him into something. Which is really a shame, because he did invite Arkady to come along. It had seemed like something she'd get excited about, and maybe it would actually make her smile, instead of the fake one she tends to put on for people.
The fact that there's alchocol will probably help her to feel at ease, and Vincent is nursing his own glass of wine, or being adventurous and trying the pumpkin cider.
He actually looks impressed at that particular glass when he sets it down.]
Hmm.
[Come bother him.]
wildcard
(OOC: Arkady is notorious for dragging Vincent around to things she wants to do, so he can probably be found at any one of the stations if it suits your fancy. Alternately, do whatever you like! Vincent's around, being the Avalanche shadow he always is!)
[Zack might not be the most sober person in the world right now but!! That's exactly the point?? He puts a nice frosty beer down in front of the not-vampire man and grins.]
Here, take another one! Let's share a cheers! Glad you're here!
[ The cider is what captures her attention. It's been years since they've had a good cider let alone something with fall flavors in it. Pumpkin spice had really just started to be big in her world before the end came. The end that she tries extremely hard to forget was her fault.
It's not successful most of the time.
But that's what cider is for, right? ]
Try the pumpkin cider! It's like a PSL. Connor loved them but he'd never admit it.
[Come bother him indeed, as Lyney spies the tall man from across the bar. He sometimes helps Tifa behind the bar, and just got done with his own shift and was about to relax with a pumpkin cider of his own. Seeing the man lingering on his own draws Lyney's curiosity, and eventually he finds his way to Vincent's side, making a pleased little noise as he sips his own cider.]
This is a good one, isn't it? And perfect for the season, if you ask me.
I. pie!!! [Miriam was fairly practiced with baking; she'd offered to help with the pie shells put out for this event, and was currently putting together a pie with an alarmingly purple filling she was told was called 'ube'. It tasted like a sweet potato, and the pronunciation escaped her immediately.
She also had a little assistant with her! A tiny speckled fruit bat no larger than a robin, hanging down from the curled stem of someone's carved pumpkin. It was fairly ordinary for a batâexcept for its eyes, which were just as blue as Miriam's. Currently, it was cheerfully nibbling away at a bit of stringy jackfruit.]
Could you stretch a bit, please?
[She asked the bat, politely. Without letting go of its snack, the familiar extended its speckled wingâand Miriam busied herself making a few adjustments to a bat decoration she'd been forming out of scraps of pie crust.]
II. Adults Only [There were many things weighing on Miriam's mindâespecially lately. She didn't drink often, and the thought of her control possibly slipping was even more troubling than usual.
But, this place was safe; safe and free of the things that worried her so. And this cider was quite nice, though Miriam still held the glass with both hands as if it might float away.
Her familiars had been dismissed for now; but the seats at the bar to either side of her were empty.]
[Wildcard] [For any prompt not listed! My plotting post is here.]
[Party or not, Tifa is always at the bar serving the drinks, even shooing the other crew members away when they try to take over for her or urge her to take a break. This is her taking a breakâshe feels more in her element behind the counter than in front of it, which is where she watches Miriam with a keen eye after having served her the cider.
She can't say she knows the other girl particularly well, but she knows the look of someone with a lot on their minds. She saw it every night working in the slums, people with weights in their shoulders that they then put into their grips on their cups.]
Careful. [She points to the cup with a lopsided grin.] Wouldn't want that thing to break.
[The sweet aroma of pies eventually will draw the attention of Nanaki, who pads his way over to the pie station. He watches the two quietly for a moment, his tail swishing behind him as he does, before turning to Miriam.]
Pie Station [Lyney's got quite the sweet tooth, and naturally is drawn to the pie making station. What a lovely little idea! While he may not go too crazy with the pie fillings, sticking to sweet fruit or lemon flavours, he's got a deft hand and seems quite adept at crafting little cat faces on the pies he makes. He just finishes a grinning cat's face on one of the pies he's decorated when he turns to whoever approaches.]
These are positively delightful, wouldn't you say? Here, go on, have a slice!
Adults Only Night [Lyney may be short and have a baby face, but he is old enough to enjoy a tasty drink at the bar. Depending on when one gets there, they may find Lyney at the bar itself, enjoying a Pumpkin Cider or the Hocus Pocus Fizz. He's quite chatty with those around him, especially when alcohol is present, though when he's alone he seems to be content just nursing his drink and observing in silence.]
[Of course, other times he may be found behind the bar tending to patrons himself; he had promised Tifa he'd help out from time to time. Even with the toned-down vibes he still puts on a little bit of a show, flipping bottles and pouring drinks from impressive heights. He'll eventually mosey over to anyone who's alone at the bar, leaning on the counter with a friendly grin on his face.]
So, what'll it be? Or would you prefer if I made something special?
Wildcard [Got an idea for a prompt? Feel free to write your own starter, or send me a DM so we can plan something out!]
[ Cloud is actually working the bar tonight as well. As an additional bar tender and the one that's actually handling all of the money. He doesn't particularly mean it, but you know.
DIY Pies! [One might think it's inappropriate to bring animals around food, but Nanaki is perfectly civilized! He even washed his paws before getting started on the pie making tasks! Though, it's still a bit difficult to manage, he's gotten a pie shell made and some fruity apple filling in the pie before him.]
[However, when it comes to the lattice pattern, Nanaki seems to be having trouble. He's managed to get the dough into strips, but he's having an issue weaving it He's very focused, but his paws are just very clumsy. Maybe help him out?]
Spooky Treat Off [A competition for who can make the scariest and tastiest treats is perfect for Seventh Heaven's patrons to participate in. And one of the judges who is here to judge the offered treats is none other than Nanaki himself! He sits at a table near the front of the bar, a little sash declaring him an "official tasting judge" wrapped around him. He will be eagerly tasting some of the treats, and wags his tail whenever someone approaches.]
Hey there! Just so you know, the last one I tried was really good, so you've got your work cut out for you!
Adults Only Night [Now, see, TECHNICALLY, Nanaki is actually still just a teenager; being 50 years old only amounts to being about 16 years old or so in human years, so he's technically still underage. But he isn't really here to drink, mostly to enjoy the vibes! There's even a spot for him off on one side where a cushion has been set out for him to rest and relax and just take a nice nap amidst the cozy vibes offered.]
[However, somehow, Nanaki has gotten ahold of one of the seasonal drinks, which was sweet enough to mask the taste of alcohol even to his keen nose. And now Nanaki is curled up on his cushion with a chuckle under his breath, his tail swishing behind him.]
Heheheh..! This is real good..!
Wildcard [Got an idea for a prompt? Feel free to write your own starter, or send me a DM so we can plan something out!]
[Oh. In all of her time working the bar, this is a first for Tifa. He may be a labratdog, but she can tell someone drunkâor just happily buzzedâfrom yalms away. She is very strict about the alcohol rules at her bar, and Nanaki certainly applies to them. She isn't mad when she approaches but more curious as she kneels down in front of him where he's curled up on the cushion.]
[ Lynette isn't technically a member of Avalanche just yet, but really it's only a matter of time before she joins. Both of her brothers are already a part of the crew.
Unlike her brother, Lynette is not the chatty sort. She spends most of the evening faded into the background, watching everyone else in Seventh Heaven attentively. When she's not actively listening in on someone's business (people sure are chatty when they're drunk!), she makes herself useful in little ways to help keep things running smoothly despite not actually working there. She may refill a pitcher of water before anyone notices it's too low, or hover uncomfortably around a patron who is starting to become a nuisance until they leave.
But mostly she sits with a beverage - usually non alcoholic - and observes. ]
b. pies part one: the eating
[ Free desserts? Say no more; she's interested. Given the festive (and giving) environment, there are plenty of pies being shared on some evenings.
Lynette finds herself hovering the pie station, tail twitching slightly with interest, as she looks over her options. As much as she wants to try a piece of each one on offer, even she acknowledges that's too many. ]
What would your top three recommendations be?
[ Three slices is a good amount of pie slices, she thinks. ]
c. pies part two: the baking
[ Given how much pie she's helped herself to, she decides it's probably prudent to pay the gesture forward and make one of her own. All of the ingredients she needs are easily available, and it's not like she's never baked anything before.
Just one issue: the oven is broken. Yes, it is her fault. No, she does not know how she managed to break it.
She frowns at it. ]
Hm.
[ Maybe she should get someone to help her fix it. ]
d. wildcard
(( Come hang out and do something else with Lynette! Hit me up at asondeiru on Discord or plurk. ))
[Zack might not be the captain of this crew but he tends to do a lot of random recruitment for the crew, anyway. The crux of being the extrovert of the group. But it's nothing to complain about.
That's why he noticed some stray cat on the ship. She looks ... Kind of familiar? But he's not sure how to place how or why she seems familiar. Not yet.]
Hey, yo. How's it going? [Zack greets her with a warm friendly smile.] You know you don't have to do that, right?
[He points at the pitcher of water she just filled up.]
[Ah, Lyney's sister, right? Tifa has met her briefly, but hasn't had the chance to get to know her yet. Or speak to her much at all with how busy things have been. So, spotting her alone at the oven, she figures what perfect time to do so.
Only for her smile to fade when she sees the frown on Lynette's face.]
... Something wrong? You look like that oven's just said something real mean to you.
