What: Party and Secret Surprise Birthday for Riku. Even if you're not crew or a friend of the crew, please feel free to drop by! The kids are all super friendly so they'd probably invite anyone. You can even say your character saw Namine shopping for supplies and got invited that way.

Welcome To Hero's Rest!

Usually the beach is pretty barren but not today! Today is a special day deserving of a very special banner. Leaving the dock there's a large banner hanging from two poles that reads: 'Welcome Everyone!' It's written it in big bubble letters with bright colors. It's not the only thing that's decorated though, flair has been added all over. There's a variety of homemade decorations out ranging from more banners and streamers to dreaded glitter that will in fact never be leaving you now. It's edible glitter though so at least there's that! A small bonus, right?

The kids did their best, okay. On banners one might even spot drawings of various crewmates or even your character! These were all done with love by Namine and you're free to see any sort of image you want! Be creative, be funny, do what you want!

Walk a short ways from the dock and there's a bunch of tables set up with chairs for people to sit. Two particular boys (with names that start with R) had a lot to do with moving the tables and chairs out here, don't forget to thank them!

Happy Birthday Riku!

Someone might have done his best to not mention his birthday but alas word got out. Which means there's an extra large banner over the food tables that says "Happy Birthday Riku!!" written by Sora. There's a picture of Riku drawn by Namine and other doodles around it done by Sora. Look, they went all out to embarrass celebrate him. There's no quietly escaping having a joyful birthday when the power of friendship is around. Waiting for him is a silver crown (made from foam, sorry not sorry) for him to wear as the birthday boy.

On the center table there's a cake with 'Happy Birthday' carefully written on it. Chocolate and vanilla, like light and darkness! Get it? Of course there's a bunch of colorful sprinkles on it. There's also a smaller sort of crumbled version of the cake down below that could pass for cupcakes without wrappers. It's actually the corpse of the first attempt Namine made that fell apart. It still tastes fine!

Don't forget to check out the present table where things can be dropped off. There's already a few there.

Food and Games

There's a decent amount of food already out that consist of things Namine's done her best to make: pigs in a blanket, caprese skewers (mushroom, mozzarella cheese, and basil with a balsamic glaze), hummus, a large cheese pizza and a large all meat pizza. Drinks ranging from pumpkin chai tea (she as not escaped being obsessed) to apple cider (no alcohol of course). And a few sweet things: mini pumpkin muffins and some apple empanadas. Everything looks rustic, definitely homemade by someone new to it, but it's all more than edible.

A sign reads "please leave food here! :)" with blank cards for people to write their name next to what they leave!

Off away from the tables and the food is an area with stations set up for some games. There's towels set out in a circle for playing musical towels. A net up with a ball down for playing some volleyball. A track set up with some obstacles for racing. Want to gather some seashells? There's some baskets out for people to do that!

Last, but not least there's a sign up that says "sandcastle competition! make your best sand creation!" Bring your creativity and make whatever you want here! Try not to put it too close to the edge though or the waves may wash it away.

Bonfire

As the sun goes down a large bonfire gets started by someone's magic. Or maybe just the magic of friendship (not really). There's tons of marshmallows for people to grab to roast. Somehow there's music playing, don't question it too much, and some cleared out spaces if people want to dance. Logs can be pulled up so that people can huddle around the fire. Or people are free to keep playing and risk accidentally bumping into people in the dark.

The only pre-requisite here is really to have fun!

[ Parties are great in general, but parties starring some of her favorite kids? Count her in!

Over by the Presents, Della has put down a small wrapped box. Inside is a pair of aviator-like goggles... sort of like the ones on her pilot's cat. Good for handling intense weather!

Of course she'll be chomping at the Food with absolutely no table manners. But she's clearly enjoying every single crumb! Even Namine's Fail!Cake! She... did not bring any food herself, and to be honest, that's a very good thing.

Did somebody say competition? Cause she's there! But instead of an ordinary sandcastle, Della is trying to recreate the McDuck McManor in all its glory. It's not looking too shabby!

When night falls and the bonfire is lit, Della is more than happy to show off moves she remembers from the 90s and 2000s. She refuses to believe it's outdated. She can also be seen later, sharing stories of her amazing family while sitting on a log, like the time her kids defeated an evil mummy, or how about that time they discovered a magical golf course, or...? ]

[Fantomex had promised to come, and he'd even brought a dish from his homeland into the mix: Cassoulet, but finding the bonfire at the end of what turned into a very eventful day is promising.

He's seen Della around but hasn't really had the chance to speak with her. If he's put off by a woman who is also a duck, he doesn't show it.]

It's nice to see children being children, isn't it?

[ Nor does she seem to be baffled by some guy who's dressed like a comic book superhero. She smiles, and looks over at the kids with clear fondness. ]

Yeah, really. They deserve this, after all the stuff this world's put them through.

Food

Hey, Auntie Della!

[If Sora can be found anywhere it's usually where all the food is too.]

Naminé really did a great job making all this food, huh?!

[Which is great because this is an island full of dumb teenage boys and someone's got to cook. Sora can cook pretty well these days too but he's got Lazy-Boy syndrome, also.]

[ Man, hearing "Auntie Della" just adds ten years to her life. ]

Whoa, she did ALL this? Clearly I didn't compliment her enough before!

[ Seeing the sandcastles really interests Namine, both from an artistic point of view and just a curious one. Particularly since Della's seems so big and surprisingly well done. She heads over, fully tilting to the side to try to get the best look she can at it. ]

Wow, that's really good! Is it a place you've been?

[ She lets out a little laugh before answering. ]

That's one way to put it - this is basically where I grew up! You're looking at McDuck Manor, home of the world's richest duck, Scrooge McDuck - and my uncle!

Seashells and Sandcastles

[He's never really been good at parties. This is a known fact about Roxas. So for most of the party, he can probably be found on the beach, collecting sea shells. He's always liked to do that, and he makes a point of doing it. (And he might set some aside, should Xion ever show up).

And, well, collecting sea shells does maybe lead to a sandcastle. But that's proving to be a little more time consuming. How are you supposed to get the sand to stay together anyway? Even the wet sand isn't cooperating.]

Partygoin'

[Even though Roxas isn't the best at parties, he is trying to make an effort. He does like games after all, and can be a bit competitive. So he'll happily join in a race or give volleyball a try.

But given he was on set-up duty and said he would help, Roxas is also keeping an eye out for things that need to be done. Making sure there's enough food or cleaning up something that spilled. Dragging out an extra chair if he thinks they need it or replacing glasses. There's a lot to pay attention to.]

Later On

[As the party winds down, or perhaps transitions more into a birthday party than a general one, Roxas wanders off. Perhaps to his room, or some quieter part of the island. It just, feels a bit weird to be part of those festivities. And, well, it's been a long day.]

[Anyone is welcome to say anything they'd like about Fantomex, but when he gives a girl like Namine his word that he'll attend her party then he does. He arrives with a very large pot of Cassoulet and he could really use a hand finding a place for it.]

Hello, son. Could I bother you for a location for this?

Oh, uh, sure....I think there's room on that table over there.

[He points, indicating an open spot that might have been for another platter. But it can always go somewhere else, especially if someone brought something.

Though he's a little caught off guard. He's never been called son before.]

Do you need me to move anything? What is that anyway?

[Sora might just notice Roxas starting to sneak away. At first, he'll think that Roxas should just go off on his own. He doesn't want to bother Roxas if he needs to recharge those batteries of his.

But after a moment, Sora will put down his things and follow after him.]

Hey, Roxas! Wait up...!

[In some ways, it's not a surprise that Sora noticed. Roxas did try to leave quietly, unnoticed, but he's surprised his Other would catch on.]

[ Should she really be wandering off from a party she's organized? Probably not. But it's felt like a lot and she might just need a tiny break. She's not gone too far, she can still hear the music that's playing and can even see the bonfire still off in the distance, but it's just a bit more quiet here.

Which might be why it's a tiny bit surprising to see she's not alone in wandering off. She gives a sheepish smile and tiny wave as she walks up to Roxas. ]

Sneaking off?

[ Emet-Selch looks very awkward and out of place here. He'd been invited by Namine but she hadn't specifically mentioned that it would be someone's birthday. He doesn't have any kind of gift! Not even a courtesy one. Well, aside from the drinks he has prepared to share...

Uzvar - essentially fruit boiled with honey and spices like vanilla or cinnamon. He had made a batch of three different flavours, chilled, and then bottled them to bring. Not that he looks as though he has anything since they're in his enchanted, bottomless bag.

He glances around as he skirts the edges of the party, searching for Namine (although anyone is welcome to run across him). Maybe you'll even catch him trying to stealthily leave his bottles of uzvar on the food table and write on the cards provided.

[Have one of the loudest boys in the entire gaggle of party hosts pointing Emet-Selch out with a friendly wave and a boyish yell.]

[ It's hard to miss poor Emet-Selch looking mildly awkward. She gives him a big sympathetic smile and waves, because who doesn't want more attention drawn to them? She moves over enthusiastically to him, ever growing smile that he cannot just escape from. ]

I'm so glad you came! Is the bag heavy? Do you need some help?

[Fantomex has just finished writing his own card by his large roasting pan:

when his attention is drawn to the other man attempting stealth at the concessions table. He's seen him on the network, he believes.

His eyes flit over Emet-Selch's card before looking to the man.]

Roped into providing libation for the secret birthday party, were you? Namine can be quite persuasive, can't she?

ARRIVAL
[Unlike the gala, Neve has not made him dress up for this one. So, when Davrin arrives - this time with Assan in tow - he's just wearing his normal leather coat and whatnot. No weapons. This is supposed to be a nice, friendly thing, after all.]

[Assan is more outgoing than his guardian, at first. Which means, after Davrin's arrival, it's entirely likely new faces will be accosted by an excited griffon bordering on the size of a great dane.]

SANDCASTLES
Don't you dare.

[This is directed at the griffon sitting in the sand beside him. Assan has started to move. Looking like he's about to roll around... right into the castle he's building. He doesn't even care if he's going to win or not, it's the principle of the thing. The art of the thing.]

If you knock into this, you're never getting another treat. [While he looks around for anyone else-] Go chase some seagulls, feather brain.

BONFIRE
[For now, all is quiet in the Warden's corner. Sitting and watching the flames, with his griffon companion snoring at his feet. He'll occasionally toss some driftwood into the flames, but for the most part, is content to sit and carve another twisted branch of wood, listening to others.]

[Maybe now's a good time to ask the Monster Hunter for a story?]

[Fantomex figures since he's been invited, he may as well make the most of it, though he has no intention of taking part in this sandcastle competition, he does have an appreciation for art and fully intends to have a look at what others are doing when he spies two familiar faces.]

I seem to recall him being fairly good at chasing birds.

[Meanwhile, Sora might be happening by while chasing what appears to be a long pink noodle across the ground.]

Kieran's going to be so mad if I let you keep eating marshmallows, you know?! You're gonna get a tummy ache!

[He manages to scoop up the little creature into his arms and catches sight of the man sitting near the fire. And his pet, too.]

Hi! You don't let yours eat marshmallows, right?

[Somehow Jill's not only found herself at someone's birthday party, but on the beach to boot. Luckily, she's found a familiar face (and beak) so she doesn't feel too rude or too awkward. That makes it easy for her to laugh at Davrin's most likely empty threat and hopefully distract Assan's more destructive temptations with an offer of her own.]

Assan, you can come knock mine over and I'll give you a treat for doing so.

[Okay, so her own castle looks like it's about to topple over on its own. Assan won't have to do much to destroy it.

She flicks some sand at Davrin, playful frown on her face.]

Be nice to him. He's just a baby, remember?

[ The carving is what draws Namine's eyes over to the Warden and she makes her way over with a small smile on her face. Before she sits down next to him she gives a small wave to Assan, it's only polite to after all! ]

I'm glad you came, both of you! [ Said before Assan can think she's not happy for the (not so) little buddy being here. ] What are you making?

[ Riku had seen the set-up before the birthday banner had gone up, so when he comes back to the beach to it, there's a fond sigh and a shake of his head. Of course Sora would spill the beans on his birthday when he would have been happy to just have Naminé's party as the celebration.

He wears the foam crown without protesting and has the cake when presented to him.

Find him playing party games or building sandcastles during the day. Or come hang out by the bonfire with him as the day turns to night. ]

[ It's really not long before he finds Sora in the crowd and makes his way over, wrapping an arm around the brunette's shoulders and ruffling his hair. ]

I'm guessing you're the one who told people it was my birthday today. Should've known you wouldn't let it go by quietly.

[ How many other birthdays have they missed over the last few years? ]

I hope you know this means I have to get you back, don't you?

[ Throughout the day Namine may toss him a glance or two before quickly looking away to hide her grin. She can't really be held responsible for wanting to laugh at him wearing his crown dutifully can she? It really is kind of hilarious. At least he didn't try to reject it and it does seem like he's having some fun here and there. As the bonfire starts she makes her way over to him when she notices him off alone, or at least around as few people as possible. ]

You're lucky Sora told me it was your birthday. [ Said with that little tone that indicates he really should have spilled the beans himself. ] I wanted to get you a gift but I wasn't really sure what you'd like. I did get you a card though. [ She hands it out to him. It's not much, just a sketch of him and Sora playing with silly wooden swords with Kairi watching on with her hand to her mouth to keep from laughing. It's a bright happy scene without the weight of everything else. Something she hopes they'll get to actually have eventually. ]
