I see. [ Gah, she can hear the exhaustion in the other woman's voice. Seems that she's rather exasperated, as well as defeated. Those answers truly don't inspire confidence. ]
In that case... why don't you take a little break? I can try to find out what I can for you.
[Well gee, now Daria just felt bad. She let out a sigh again before closing her eyes. The dragon snored in her ear.]
No. No, I started it. I should finish it.
Besides I’m the only one really complaining. I kind of promised people I would do that less if I had the energy to do something about what I’m complaining about.
[She did. She absolutely did. Which was weird, she never felt like she needed to vent to anyone in a while. Especially to strangers. There were only a few people she felt like she could trust with it.
None of them were here.
That always bugged her, no matter how many times she did this song and dance.
She might've been embarrassed considering the look she was given. She hesitated to take her hand but, awkwardly, she took it.]
That was my next place, hopefully they've seen a dragon in their lives.
[ Rem gives her hand a gentle tug, turning to walk in the direction of the pet store. Upon her head, her own little, pink dragon stirs awake, lifting its head and blinking lazily at the sun. ]
Wouldn't that be funny if they hadn't! Imagine not seeing a dragon but living on a... living island.
Mm-hm. Though, the idea is interesting to think about. Some worlds might have dragons. Others don't. [ She glances at the other woman as if inviting her to speak of her own world. ]
[...Noted. Daria gave her dragon another pet before she went on with her own novel.]
Yeah, we didn't. Except in fiction. Movies, books, games. It's all hokey fantasy in my world.
I read and wrote enough about dragons to get a feel that it was something I could maybe grasp if I saw any in real life. Seeing as I've been world jumping already, it just became more and more plausible for me to see a real one soon enough.
Nowadays, it just isn't so wild of a concept anymore.

C'mon. [ She offers her a hand. ] There's a pet shop not far off-- have you stopped there yet? Maybe they have a few extra clues.
[ If worst comes to worst, they can venture into the wilderness and release them into the wild. ]

Wow.
What a ride that was.]
Well, wouldn't it make for a whimsy magical adventure if so? I'm sure we'd just change their dandy little lives.
[Now she just missed TV.]

"I read and wrote enough--" ] Ah, you're an author?

[Pause.]
None of my works have been published officially but maybe someday? I dunno.
[Apparently it was a loaded question.]
