[Closed] Rising up from the Sea
Who: Genshin Cast (+ one Sherlock)
Status: Closed
Where: Surasthana Cafe, Jan. 10th
What: Wriothesley arrived and was informed about basically a truce agreement. Why not just have a small gathering to catch up? ... and also do paperwork.
Warnings: Will add as necessary. For now, everyone has a 'get along' t-shirt
Surasthana Cafe, a beautiful shop conceived (and designed) by a Riftfarer and very unlike many other businesses on Eltrut. Bright and colorful, the stain glass pours what sunlight peeks out in the winter as radiant hues upon the forest-like interior. As per a typical business day, there are books upon books upon shelves around the cozy furnishing and... some questionable decor, but it's not a typical business day. No, it's closed for today, but for a private matter. One could say it's a party with a table set with teapots and tea cups, and a grill having been sparked a few steps outdoors; one shouldn't expect too many serious discussions going on.
No, not at all. It's only a small get together.

Fontaine's prison system is more robust that most other nations, though that's in part due to their courts and the Iudex that heads them. I'm sure the Duke will be happy to tell you the details if you want to know more.
[As for people being without their Visions... well maybe you should ask Heizou about the Vision Hunt Decree one day, Sherlock.]

Fitting for a nation of justice, I suppose.
[ However, what kind of justice is it? Do the people who get harmed get their justice? Are there safeguards to protect the innocent and victims from being falsely accused or punished for trying to survive a cruel circumstance? Are the laws just in the first place?
Suddenly, Sherlock's face hardens. Why should he wonder? What application would that knowledge have here? There is already a system of justice in this world which won't change by any prison warden from another world, and any information could not be taken back home. He would simply be filling up his mind attic with unnecessary information.
So instead of asking questions, he takes another bite of his sandwich. ]

It would be easy enough to ask, but Alhaitham has never been one to pry into the affairs of others (Kaveh being the exception, as always), and that sentiment has remained true with Sherlock even until now. Nothing productive ever comes out of forcing a conversation that the other party does not want to have.
So there's a long moment of Alhaitham simply looking at Sherlock, clearly contemplative... but he eventually glances away, biting down on a sigh.]
Like I said earlier, there's more than enough food to go around, so feel free to take as much as you want. [He takes a moment to retrieve the plate that Sherlock had put down.] You know where to find me if you need anything else.
[...and he'll just step away now, since he unfortunately has other things to do around here. Like making sure Kaveh isn't going to try anything ridiculous once again.]

Two years... he's known these people, this world longer than he's known John now, and yet, he'll never belong. He's an outsider who gained something he never thought he could, only for it to be snatched away one day. It'll leave a gaping wound if he stays. That assumes Sherlock even gets a choice in the matter. Sherlock's own world will give him back John, but Sherlock will forget everything here. Maybe that would be for the best too; his world is not kind towards people like him. He won't know what he's missing during however many years he has left before madness takes him.
This world continues to be kind and cruel in equal measure. ]
