[Beat had missed out on the first time the quest had been posted to the board. AT first he had thought "how bad could it be?" only going by the description that was provided on the listing. But upon arriving in front of the manor, he could feel the imposing presence from its sheer size, and the supposed haunted presence within its walls. Sure, he had put on a brave face when he first read it, but now he was having second thoughts about this whole thing.
Not that he would actually say that aloud.
Looking over to whoever it was who decided to tag along, he keeps the mask up for the meantime, just to get an idea of how they felt about the whole thing.]
I dunno 'bout you, but this is kinda remindin' me of some kinda test of courage, you know?
[He can't be the one unnerved about this whole thing, right?]
[It's because of Futaba that Beat started believing that UFOs and aliens can really be out there in the world. At least before he met an actual alien. But even then, the thought of life beyond earth didn't seem too farfetched when he himself has traveled through different worlds.
But that was for earth. Surely UFOs weren't an actual thing here right. At least that's what he thought until he saw a large metal object zip through the air, hovering far above the tallest rooftops. At the speed it was going, it was hard to tell exactly what it was.]
Yo, you saw that, right? It ain't jus' me?
[Regardless of whether they did or not, Beat roughly shakes the shoulders of the closest person to him. Clearly someone's excitable... and probably needs someone to tell him he's not crazy.]
[Alternately, you might suddenly be minding your own business when someone runs into you hard, possibly knocking you on your ass. Beat looks at you sheepishly, his shellphone in one hand.]
Shit, sorry, yo! Was trying to go after that thing.
[It's not the first time he's had to venture to find some kind of ore or crystal in some cave. While it doesn't happen often enough, he's gotten used to the greeting of cool cavern air, dark tunnels, and cramped spaces. With the help of his tattoo, he summons up a mote of fire in one hand to help guide him and whoever he is partnered up with to find this Magnetecorum ore that was needed for the Beacon Box.
As they get deeper, he turns to his companion, his lips pursed in a curious expression.]
Whatchu think they mean 'bout this needin' a lot a' emotion or something?
[Got other ideas or want to plot something out? My cr meme link is here or you can message me on discord at riyuji.]

Haunted Paws
Test of courage?
Oh! Like drinking hallucinogenic poison. Gotcha. Well, this will easy then.
[He looks around, and seems quite at ease.] It's kinda dusty, but reminds me of Father's palace a little.

No, man! I'm talkin' like when you go into the woods tha's all creepy with a coupla friends an' bringin' something back. Or goin' into some kinda abandoned school, you know?
[But if Nico looks calm about this whole endeavor, maybe he shouldn't be too on edge about this either. Maybe.]
Your dad's place looks like a creepy-ass mansion?

I've been through my religion's version of hell. Nothing's scarier than that.
[Well, except you know, admitting your feelings to someone. Or anyone.]
It's more of a vibe than the actual aesthetics.
no subject
Guess that means I picked the right guy to help out with this.
[Beat gives Nico a playful shove that might be a little stronger than he realizes.]
We should go lookin' for that cat and get to ghost-bustin', yo.
no subject
[Nico is pushed back a step, but he pushed Beat back as he regained his footing.]
Uh... So I didn't read the board. Is the cat alive or a ghost? The ghost busting's going to be the easiest part because I can just banish the ghosts.
no subject
Pretty sure the cat's alive, an' that it can help find the ghost tha's hangin' 'round. So when we find 'em, this quest's gonna be easy between the two a' ya.
no subject
Okay. You take care of the cat, I'll take care of the ghosts.
[He took a breath, and began to push his will out, warning ghosts not to bother him or Beat. It'd work for weak willed spirits, but stronger ones might still try to mess with them. Especially since they weren't beholden to his Father's realm.]
no subject
I'mma look for the cat but we're supposed to do this ghost bustin' thing together, aight.
[He walks up the steps, opening the door for them into the house. An overwhelming amount of dust overwhelms them when they enter, a mustiness lingering in the air as they move further in. Beneath their feet, the floor creaks with almost every step, announcing their presence to any ghost that hover nearby.
A short distance away, there's a soft meowing moving around the first floor.]
C'mon, le's go check it out.
[Not waiting to see if Nico is following, Beat heads towards the direction the meow had come from.]
ii!
what the hell was that?
he blinks. something definitely zoomed through the sky just now. he's not even remotely drunk enough to be seeing things. before he can really process what he saw, a kid nearby by grabs him by the shoulders and gives him a good shake. props to beat for actually managing to shake him, but was that rough of a shake really necessary??
eizen gently pries beat's hands off his shoulders as he speaks.]
No, I saw it, too. I'm just not sure what it was.
grabby hands at you
He lets go of Eizen, a wave of relief washing over him. Beat's just glad he wasn't the only one who spotted the thing.]
Looked to me like it was some kinda UFO.
grabby hands right back!! it's been far too long since we threaded~
his gaze travels toward the direction that flying thing sped off in. it's long gone by now, which isn't too surprising given how fast it zipped through the sky. beat's comment gets eizen to glance back over with a brow quirked.]
UFO?
[not a term he's familiar with, alas.]
no subject
[It's at this moment that Beat realizes that he doesn't actually know what UFO stands for. His realization shows on his face, mouth agape, his brows slowing knitting together as h tries to figure out what he should say next. Suddenly he lights up.]
Aliens! UFO's the thing aliens ride in. You leas' know that, right?
iii!
She glances up as he summons a mote of fire, giving a nod of approval before facing forward and beginning to venture further into the cave.]
Well, it can't be mined normally, from the sounds of it— it would just become unusable if we tried. It's hard to know until we actually try our hand at it, but I think the first thing to do is prepare ourselves to have to be brutally honest about our feelings.

His driving force to taking on the quest was to help Darin and Zelda out with their Beacon Box project. Sure, he may have provided them with some valuable info already from where he had come from, but if he could do more, then he was more than willing to. But this is certainly beginning to prove to be quite an undertaking.
Between having to give up something valuable to send out the Beacon Box and possibly having to open up just to get some ore, he's slowly realizing the price anyone participating needs to be willing to pay.
Despite his thoughts, he keeps it to himself, even if it shows on his face. Keeping pace with Harding, he looks down towards her.]
You ready for all a' that? For this Beacon Box thing some people's tryin' to do?
