🌸 FEB CATCH ALL (OPEN)
Who: Rin and you!
Status: Open
Where: Various locations
What: MANTA quests
🌸 i. apple for an eye (4pt)
[Rin's affinity with guns isn't so particularly bad. She's used her husband's gun once or twice in her life time, and never missed a shot when she did shoot the gun. Although, maybe Viktor had some sort of fancy enchantments on his gun? Because these guns looked a bit worse for wear... Still, it had to be done.
She turns to her partner, and smiles all too pleasantly. An adrenaline junkie at heart, she actually offers her partner the gun for her to be shot at. Whoever her partner is sure lucked out, that's certain.]
Here, you can shoot, and I'll be the target.
🌸 ii. who let the dogs out (4pt)
[She's ready for adventure, and not only that, she is ready to steal. She hasn't been able to steal anything for so long, not after she was made to be an assassin. She'd be going back to her old roots now, and quite frankly, she's happy for the simple work. She wasn't an ordinary thief -- quite a good one, if she'd say so.
As they hit land, she's replaced her heels with shoes that are much easier to move around in. Her katana tucked by her side, that's already engulfed with lightning in preparation to fight any enemies.
However, when she notices that there are dogs patrolling the area, she finds herself at the edge of the building. Her body pressed against the stone wall, as she begins to examine any openings.]
Hmm... I do have a lightning cage I could trap the dogs in. It's not like it'll actually hurt them.
🌸 iii. bounty - zombie mermaids (6pt)
[Oh mermaids. Oh, but those aren't pretty mystic mermaids like she's used to back home. Those were... Pretty hideous, actually, but she's luckily not caught off guard by their sudden, grotesque appearance.
She retreats quietly to a nearby, large rock that she kneels down by. Her eyes watching it move about from a mutual distance. Eyes narrowing as observes her enemy, and notices those very, very fangs that look like they could absolutely tear off her skin if she wasn't careful.]
Ooh, I better be careful for once. Don't wanna get bit while I try to hunt this thing...

Who Let the Dogs Out (who? who?)
[He wasn't saying no to the lightning cage so much as he was saying it might not be the best option if they wanted to maintain a stealthy advantage.
With the size of the place and the number of patrolling beasts, his own ability to make them invisible would only get them so far. And might be better to use on the way out.]
no subject
[Her back is still pressed against the building as her eyes scan the area still. There had to be a little opening for them somewhere... No building was ever truly secured. That's what she learned as a street urchin when she was stealing from unsuspecting nobles.]
Well, there's always an opening somewhere. Whether it be scaling a building to get to a window, or someone leaving a stupid latter where it shouldn't be.
no subject
[And flying might make them more visible to the guard dogs if they simply went overland. Despite the fog.
He scanned the grounds and the terraced and sculpted gardens that led up to the sprawling mansion itself. Sharpening his eyesight as he went to make sure he didn't miss a detail.]
The dogs patrol on a schedule, but they aren't going into the hedge maze in the middle of the lawn on the west side. If we can get there, we can use it to observe that side of the mansion. Look for entrances closer to us.
[If Rin looked that direction, she might be able to make out the vague outline of a hedge row through the light magical fog that clung to the ground. If she had better than usual human sight, she might be able to make out the fact that the hedge line had openings in it. But otherwise, only those with super-human sight would be able to confirm his assessment of the area at the current distance.]
no subject
[As much as she'd love to scale the building, and perhaps use his flying abilities to get where they needed to go, that would be far too easy. Maybe they were expecting them to use those abilities and trap them when they got to a window or something. Either way, she has to be much more careful than usual, and her eyes continue to scan the layout of the island. Quietly taking in what he says, and making note of the dogs being on the schedule.
And while Ori eyesight is good, it's not super humanely good. So, unfortunately, she doesn't see the openings in the hedges, but it does give her a bit of an idea. Especially since he mentioned that he could fly. ]
Hm... Could you bring us over there? I don't want to make noise with our footsteps. But... If you could have us floating slightly in the air, I think we can make it across without alerting attention to ourselves.
no subject
He didn't want to make too much noise, but he moved his hand to hover just to one side of her before murmuring.]
This venerable one will be grabbing you now. You should hold tightly.
[And, warning given, he wrapped his arm around her. She was taller than him by about five inches, so she would easily be able to wrap her own arms around his shoulders.]
no subject
This is a position that she's found herself in plenty of times, so she isn't uncomfortable. Instead, her eyes narrow just enough to where she starts to examine the area hastily. A bit worried that they might get caught moving about, but the floating should eliminate any footstep noises for the time being. And unless the dogs could pick up a shift in the air, there's no way they could be caught this way.]
Thanks! When we get closer, I'll look around the hedges to spot any openings.
no subject
So, going slower than he liked, but keeping to the shadows and only moving when the attention of the patrols were elsewhere, he floated them across the expanse of the manicured and gardened lawn like a ghost over the foggy moors.]
no subject
Luckily, it turns back around, and Rin's mouth is shut completely tight as they reach the hedges. Finally letting go of him, and taking a deft step forward to stick her hand into one of the holes that was visible to her at least. Rin motioning her eyes toward the hole they could easily fit in.]
no subject
Daqaing pressed fingers against Rin's shoulder to get her attention and then moved past her, deeper into the maze. He didn't particularly care about getting 'lost' in it. He couldn't sense any spiritual presences inside it the way he could the dogs that patrolled so closely outside. And the deeper they were, the likelihood of being heard speaking went down.]
no subject
Quietly nodding as he walks in front of her, keeping close as they get closer and closer to the entrance. Her eyes darting back and forth to carefully scan around the area that they're exploring it, but there doesn't seem to be any issues through the maze. The dogs never catching their scent, making it much easier to navigate through the maze.
As they reach the entrance, Rin spots an all too obvious wire trap to alert the dogs. Rin stepping in front of him now, and shifting toward the side where she could disarm the trap with ease. Her eyes shifting toward the door, signaling that it was safe to go in with no possible traps on the outside.]
no subject
He waited for Rin to finish disarming the trap and at her signal, began moving toward the doors. Senses alert for any patrols that might come near. The door was likely to be locked, so however long it took to unlock it would require they have as little risk of being seen as possible.]
no subject
The door is slightly ajar once the lock breaks, and she peeks her head in to see if there is any security inside. Her eyes darting back and forth through the lit corridors, before sighing in relief when it seems that it's clear. Rin shifting through the small crack of the door, before motioning him to come through now that it's clear.]
... We're good.

This architecture is foreign to this venerable one. Is there usually a treasure pavilion in estates such as these? If not, where are the bedrooms and offices likely to be? The galleries with arts and treasures?
no subject
[The inside is way too devoid of people. She does think it's a bit strange, but maybe he just thought the dogs would be enough to deter anyone from stealing from him? Who knows. Either way, Rin begins to search for a staircase that would lead them to the very top, or at least partially there.
Her eyes darting around the area, searching for a door, or an opening. A soft hum escaping from her as the corner of her lips curve into a curious expression, tapping her lips.]
Let me know if you find any staircases.
[She keeps her voice fairly quiet, just in case there might be some guards in the estate.]
