emotional stupidity continues ๐ฉ
A knot forms in his stomach when he hears the aforementioned words, an uncomfortable feeling that he hasn't felt for a long time, and that discomfort only serves to irritate him more. Why couldn't Kaveh just see? Why doesn't he understand? It seemed like he was beginning to, somehow... maybe he'd been deluding himself in some fashion, given the circumstances of... well, everything. This isn't Sumeru, the home where he has grown up and knows like the back of his hand. This is... an entirely new world, and entirely new place, and there is no telling what will happen next or if either of them is still going to be here the next day.]
Fine. [He grits out himself, just as unwilling to compromise as Kaveh is. Two of them can play at this game.] Go out then if you want. I'm sure your new friends here are more than happy to help you, anyway.
[Even as he spits out those words Alhaitham is well aware of how bad they sound and knows it'll come back to bite him later, but he doesn't know what else to say. He just wantsโhe doesn't wantโ
Alhaitham lets out one more frustrated sound and all but stomps out of the kitchen, not wanting to continue this conversation any longer. He's said his peace and he's done.]
emotional damage.
[He doesn't understand. Where did this go so wrong? He didn't want to fight, he was trying not to fight, what happened? What did Kaveh do wrong?
...He can't think of anything. He can't understand it. All he knows is he just feels like crying, but he is a grown adult and he will eat that coffee cup before he cries over the kitchen sink.
He went and sat out on the back step instead. The sea breeze that comes over into the yard...doesn't really help at all, but there's not like there's anywhere he can really go to sulk. He didn't do anything wrong! They objectively need groceries! It's not a one-person job!
...Why does he still feel so horrible, though?]
