ayyyy
[But there's a bit of a flush to Kaveh's cheeks. Obviously, Alhaitham doesn't distrust him, but...could he really hold Kaveh in that high a regard? It seems impossible to think so, with how often he's ready with some criticism but...Alhaitham is sarcastic, but he rarely lies...
It's that kind of thought that has Kaveh kind of red in the face as he gets up, pausing only to stretch out and wince at the way his back pops before he pads into the kitchen. As Alhaitham surmised, noodles won't take long, even if Kaveh adds a few vegetables to them (because vegetables are part of a nutritious diet, Alhaitham, not just meat.)]
hue hue hue
So as reluctant as he is about it, Alhaitham lets Kaveh go to make dinner for them, migrating over to the dinner table himself and getting it ready for their meal. His stomach makes a few pointed growls during this time to remind him just how little he'd eaten today, which really only makes him look more forward to food once Kaveh is done with it. He's getting very hungry—
—enough so that once the table is set Alhaitham goes into the kitchen to see the status of the cooking himself. If Kaveh is just about done then they can just bring their own respective bowls out to the dining table and finally get started on their much needed meal.]

[Kaveh says as soon as he hears Alhaitham enter the kitchen, and that is the truth. The noodles are divided into bowls, and he's set out all the extra spice Alhaitham likes to add to his for the man to measure out himself, rummaging around for proper spoons.
Okay so what if he stress-reorganizes the cutlery every week it's fine. this is fine.]
Did you already get the--?

[Just a hum of confirmation as Alhaitham grabs the chopsticks for the both of them, as well as the spoons. Kaveh's tendency to constantly rearrange the cutlery doesn't affect him too much since its not exactly a habit exclusive to here, and he's managed to spatially relocate enough similarities between the kitchen back in Sumeru and the one here to have a good idea of where Kaveh has placed everything.
With the necessary cutlery in hand Alhaitham gives himself a moment in order to add in his favored spices into his own bowl of noodles, then puts a spoon into each bowl and places the chopsticks over his bowl for now so that both of his hands are free to pick up his bowl and bring it out to the dining table.]

...You really didn't eat much all day, huh?
[He knows the Signs of a hungry Scribe by now.]

Wouldn't have asked for noodles if I wasn't.
[That's pretty much all he says before going on to start on his food without any more preamble, now that they've both settled down at the table with their respective piping hot bowls of noodles. Given how freshly cooked the noodles are they are still more than a little hot, but Alhaitham's more or less used to it at this point.]

Still, food doesn't last forever, and he automatically stands to clear the bowls once he's noted Alhaitham's is also empty. Maybe it's less Alhaitham never does chores and more Kaveh does them compulsively.]

With how hungry the both of them are it doesn't take long for them to clear their respective bowls, with Alhaitham even having eaten the included vegetables. Kaveh moves to clear the bowls once they're both done, a task that Alhaitham is perfectly fine with delegating to Kaveh to do as he stays in his seat, content to stay still and let his stomach digest through what had been a nice, fulfilling meal.]
I am tagging on my phone because the gay is that strong
Still, Kaveh comes over and nudges at his leg with a foot, leaning over his junior. ]
Hey. Up, sleepyhead. If you want to use the bed, go change and wash your face.
[it's early yet for bed, but after a day like this...well, napping in bed doesn't sound half-bad.]
fighting the cramps for the sake of Gay(TM)
...its nice.]
Mmn. [Another soft hum to acknowledge the words, and Alhaitham gives himself a second more to simply soak it all in before reluctantly moving to pry himself off the dining chair. Sitting here is good and all, but the bed is definitely sounding better with every passing second.]
truly fighting for our lives for our boys
they deserve it... they deserve this...
Fully prepared and ready for bed, Alhaitham heads to the bedroom, where Kaveh has already made himself comfortable in their (recently upgraded) bed since Alhaitham deciding to shower meant he'd taken more time overall.
Seeing Kaveh already settling in only has Alhaitham want to join in too—which was already the plan anyway, so he goes to do exactly that. He slides into bed and wastes no time to wrapping his arms around Kaveh to pull him in, tucking his senior into a cuddle like they've done every other night when they are in bed together.]
they've worked so hard....
[Kaveh yawns a bit, already tired, and the feeling of Alhaitham's warmth and heartbeat is doing a lot to lull him deeper into sleepiness. Not for the first time, he considers rolling over to look at him...and perhaps it's a whim that means this time he does, watching Alhaitham through his tired haze.
There's just so much he can't figure out what it means. There's no way he can assume the intent behind Alhaitham's actions. But knowing can't stop a heart from wanting, and Kaveh wants and wants and wants...
He doesn't say much of anything, just lets his forehead drift forward to gently lean against Alhaitham's. He had never dared hope for this before, but now it seems strange to sleep anywhere but right next to this man.
Hope is such a dangerous thing, but he wouldn't give it up for the world.]
it will pay off... soon
Lying on this comfortable bed with Kaveh warm and secure in his arms, it isn't hard at all for the day's events to catch up to him completely, and that combined with the emotional ride he'd had to go through earlier means he's definitely more than a little exhausted. He watches through bleary vision as Kaveh leans in ever closer to him, letting out a soft sound from the back of his throat as their foreheads touch against each other, eyes fluttering at the added contact.
Kaveh is warm. His senior is warm, and Alhaitham's own body thrums with the same kind of warmth as it floods his chest and the rest of his body, sweeping through him in a way that leaves pleasant tingles everywhere. Kaveh is warm and soft and nice like this and Alhaitham can't help but let a sleepy little smile come onto his face, basking in this wonderful feeling that is so much better than everything else he's had to feel today.]
NOW
He reaches up, gently brushing hand along Alhaitham's cheek and smoothing his hair back, out of his face...for a moment he doesn't move, but quickly Kaveh's heart seizes him and he leans just that little bit forward, to press a soft, sleepy kiss against that beautiful smile.
He can't help himself, not even a little.]
sleepy kiss.... uweh....
It's strange, really; strange, how even though this is far from the first kiss that they've shared this particular kiss, despite how gentle and soft it is, sends down a spark that's more intense than any other which he has felt since they've started this arrangement, all the way back in Sumeru not long after Kaveh had moved in. It reminds him, more than anything else, of the very first time where they'd kissed, back when they were still students, young and brash and still so certain of the world around them, without any of its complexities that they'd come to know later.
There is a simplicity in this, one that causes something in his chest to squeeze tight, and though Alhaitham doesn't understand what exactly is causing these feelings or why he is experiencing them at all, it doesn't stop him from returning the gesture in kind. Just as soft and just as equally sleepy, if not more, and Alhaitham doesn't know if this is an indication of Kaveh wanting more but he is more than willing to oblige, if that is what Kaveh wants. He has always wanted nothing more than to give Kaveh whatever he wants, so long as it means he can be happy.]
they still don't know...but they'll find out....
He's loved this man since they were students. Maybe it took losing him to understand what it really meant to love someone, to understand their pride was a poison and assumption the blade. It's not easy to let go of all that, and not easy to be brave about it.
Even so, Kaveh sighs a little, when he pulls away, only to burrow himself closer, face tucked against Alhaitham's neck and shoulder, one arm slung over his waist, tangling their legs together. They are far from Sumeru, and all they know, but here--right here. Burrowed into Alhaitham's warmth, he is finally home again.]
they'll know... soon... eventually...
He waits until Kaveh has settled, then moves to shift himself to accommodate the both of them better, hand coming to rest on Kaveh's head as he sleepily runs his fingers through those smooth, golden hairs, shimmering between his fingers like spun gold. He feels the way Kaveh's breathing slowly but surely deepens, evening out as exhaustion takes a hold of his senior and eventually pulls him down to sleep.
...it still feels sacred, the way he gets to be the one to hold Kaveh like this, to be the one who can feel Kaveh relax and fall asleep in his arms, to let go of all those masks that he likes to wear and let himself finally be at ease. It's a privilege Alhaitham never thought he'd be able to have, and the fact that the circumstances of their current situation is what allowed them to have this has not escaped him. There are many things about this world that still remain uncertain and serve to be a source of worry—but this, at the very least, is not one of them.
There are other things to consider still, but with Kaveh sound asleep in his arms its hard to resist the way his own exhaustion pulls at him. Alhaitham looks down to the top of his senior's head, thinking again of this warmth that he feels and the softness of the kiss they'd just shared—then leans down to bury his nose into Kaveh's hair, taking in that warm, comforting scent.]
Good night, Kaveh. [He murmurs, lips brushing right over his senior's forehead as he speaks.] Sweet dreams.
[And he holds Kaveh just like this, continuing to breathe him in, letting both his scent and his warmth wash over Alhaitham until he, too, eventually drifts off to sleep.
When morning comes and Kaveh wakes up first, as he usually does, he will do so and discover that Alhaitham will have continued to hold him throughout the entire night.]
