Under the pretext of "I need some supplies" and Benedikta keeping Cid busy for any and all party business, and the help of Kaveh for some money to get said supplies, the Enterprise II is ready for a party! Another shellphone alert will have gone out to everyone but Cid with a time and place and a note that if you know Cid? Show up! Even if it's been a very brief meeting, it's likely Cid would remember you anyway; he's just Like That. Come for singing happy birthday, stay for some cake and dinner!

THE FOOD

Styled like what you'd find in one of the many taverns dotting Eltrut in a large buffet-styled table is plenty of tavern food and some casks filled (and marked appropriately) with alcohol and non-alcoholic mead, wines, and punches, straight from the Minstrel and Cask. Larger casks are found around the main area as well holding the same.

The cake itself is styled like a night in Waloed, long before any issues arose, almost as if taken straight from memories. Inside is a chocolate cake with some light lavender flavouring, and for those who want some lighter fare, some of the same cake has been made into cupcakes with mini lightning bolt-shaped cookies with some differing decor.

OUTSIDE

Outside has plenty of seating on the deck, tables, and places to watch the hustle and bustle of Eltrut, with some balloons hanging from some high-up strings above everyone's head. At night, the balloons will be lit up to look like stars, and the boat will pull out from harbor to at least circle the main island slowly. There aren't really any places for people to sneak off to (and if Mid catches you trying to break into crew quarters... so help her she'll tell her dad) but people can enjoy the sea breeze and some drinks under the stars.

As sort of a centerpiece is a small potted tree with many branches, and slips of parchment with ribbon ties, and quills for writing to act as a guestbook but also a memory tree. Even if you haven't known Cid for too long, you can still write something nice!



Overall this is very much a mingle post! Drink, eat, be merry, and wish Cid Telamon a happy birthday!

[Hearing someone call his daughter by her full name is a bit strange, but he focuses more on the sack that's a bit lighter than he expects.]

Mid helped, eh?

[Curious, he'll open it and be surprised by what he finds inside.]

Now what's this...tools?

[He'll pull out one, curious as he doesn't immediately recognize what they are used for.]

[The teen nods promptly at the questions raised from the birthday boy, a sincere smile gracing his lips giving a thumbs up. Here's hoping Cid likes the gift Denji picked out for the other with limited knowledge as to his counterpart's hobbies with only the information garnered from Midadol that he enjoyed tinkering and inventing things as an engineer.]

Yeah she's super chill!

[And really cute to boot but he wasn't about to say that aloud to her dad of all people and risk getting clocked on the head with that newfound hammer in his hands now.]

Apparently they are goldsmithing tools or some shit? You could make yourself some nice bling like my new ring I stole from that asshole lord on the island with those big ass guard dogs.

[Holding his left hand up to show off the ruby encrusted ring in question adorned on his middle finger.]

[Do not dare utter such words unless he wants to be skewered on a lightning rod. Okay, maybe not that threatening.

Blissfully unaware, Cid just smiles as he looks over the tools.]

Goldsmithing? Not something I really tried before, but suppose I could find some use.

[His mind is already thinking things and that's always dangerous—

But he'll also glance at the ring Denji wears and chuckles.]

Not a bad haul. Not cursed is it?

[A teasing grin.]

[nutsornothing]

[Good thing you can't read minds, Cid! He's looking respectfully...Mostly. A completely innocent smirk plastered over his lips as he nods in approval giving the other a thumbs up at their proclamation of trying something new.]

You know what they say...It's never too late to try somethin' new, right!?

[Like taking your daughter out on a date yelling out profanities together with their cursed potty mouths and enjoying delicious desserts aplenty. Wait, what? At the mention of the ring upon his middle finger being potentially bedeviled a blank stare crosses his face, blinking wide eyed as he looks down to it with an intense glare.]

Cursed?

[A brief pause as he shakes his head at the notion and grinning fiendishly once more.]

Naw- No way!! It was on a statue that looked like the idiot lord who owned it.

[Then another thought crosses his mind.]

Wait...Shit! What if it turned him to stone!?

[ramuhs]

[Denji. Don't even think about his daughter—

Though he had been completely joking, seeing Denji's expression just makes his grin widen.]

Oh? Now that would be quite the problem wouldn't it. Turning to stone is not a pleasant experience, especially if it starts slow.

[totally not accidental karma for thinking about Mid no of course not]

[nutsornothing]

[Can't stop, won't stop you're not his dad, Cid! Though a look of bewilderment does cross his features as he visibly slaps a hand to his forehead mortified by the prospect at hand.]

But it would have happened by now, right...right!?!

[Surely he won't turn into stone...surely!?]

[Should he stop?]

Hmmm, hard to say. Some curses may take a while before they show. Sometimes years.

[Naaaaaaah.

And totally not drawing upon his own experience, no. yes]

[nutsornothing]

[Hands drag down the front of his face in visible dismay as he goes into crisis mode thinking about this! Taking the ring off his middle finger he makes readies to throw it to the wind before looking towards Cid for advice one last time before he chucks it overboard without a second thought.]

So I should just chuck this ring into the ocean and it will break the curse!?! What should I do, Cid?!

[Look what you've done to this poor innocent boy, Cid!]

[Oh this has turned out to be quite entertaining. However, Cid knows when to pull it in, so he'll just chuckle and step up to him, clasping his hand on his shoulder before reaching out to grab Denji's forearm and lower it.]

Now, now. I only said what if. I never said it was actually cursed.

[And that grin of his will make it clear he had been joking.]

However, if you are concerned you should have it appraised. There are plenty of those in Nogard, though Eltrut may be safer if you don't want it stolen.

[Because, you know, corsairs and all.]

[Just as he was about to whip the ring off the side of the boat without so much as a second thought, Cid closes the gap between them and clasps a hand upon his shoulder in an effort to calm him down somewhat. Looking back towards his counterpart with an arch of his brow curiously, Denji slowly but surely relaxes a bit when the other puts on a teasing smirk signaling that his newfound companion was messed with him.]

Wait...Were you just fucking with me the whole time!?!

[Loosening up now the teenager cannot help but find the hilarity in the other screwing with him, grinning wide in return as a burst of laughter quickly ensues.]

Well you sure had me fooled man! I was about to yeet this thing...I can survive a lot of shit but don't know how the hell you get outta becoming a fricken statue.

[...Ha...haha...how indeed...

There's just something of a wry grin before he pats his shoulders.]

Let's hope you never have to find out. While I do know there are cures for smaller stone curses such as panaceas for basilisk venoms and the like, a full curse may be a different matter.

Here's hoping man I don't wanna turn into a statue that would be boring as hell!

[Not the fact that Denji would basically be dead that he's worried about more so the boredom that would come from turning into a living statue unable to do anything. He cannot help but blink wide at the mention of the creature he's unheard of that might be the cure for such a fate scratching the back of his head.]

What the hell is a basilisk? Never heard of it.

A type of lizard beast whose gaze can petrify those who catch its gaze too long. They can be quite large, but in this world who knows what other types might be around.

[Denji blinks wide eyed at the foreign word with a tilt of his head confusedly, sorry Cid he's a simpleton who doesn't understand what you're saying. For this is a kid who's never been to school and barely knows how to read or write his name.]

Turn to stone?

[nutsornothing]

Oh! Duh that makes sense since we were just talkin' about that.

[Look he never said he was smart, far from it but now it all comes together. Which prompts Denji's next question as he rubs a hand at the back of his neck.]

So you have a lot of monsters back home too, huh? We got devils and fiends ourselves that are kinda like monsters I guess. Even though all they want to do is eat and kill people.

[Especially the more dangerous devils who people fear as the more afraid the general populace is the more powerful they become.]

[ramuhs]

[Ahh, yes the devil thing.]

I'd say we have a number of monsters like that as well, though fortunately it's not all of them. We've managed to handle them well enough.

[nutsornothing]

Heh- Everyone I've faced has met their death one way or another even if some of the fights were pretty damn brutal except for one hottie I let go. Hell I lost both my arms and legs in that fight against Reze.

[Not that Cid would know who or what that was given they were from different universes but would explain in due time if it came back up. A wide grin quickly forms over his features as he throws a thumbs up towards his counterpart welled up with pride.]

No one gets the best of me though I always come back swingin' one way or another!!

I'm not sure if I should be worried at how cavalier you seem to be about all of this.

[nutsornothing]

[Once again Denji just shrugs as he doesn't quite understand what that means sorry Cid he's not the brightest kid.]

Not really sure what that means either but you don't gotta worry about me man there ain't much that can kill me unless someone steals my heart. Which...Is what a lot of people have tried and failed.

[Everyone and their mother wanted it for some nefarious reasoning that he didn't understand, almost every woman he's liked desiring to steal it for their own means which pissed him off especially when they made him think they genuinely cared about him like Reze. Why couldn't anyone want Denji for Denji and the devil's heart which lied within?]

I don't think that should be something you should be openly talking about, either.

[Just a sigh as he ends up slinging his arm around Denji's shoulder and shake him a little.]

But nevermind all that, we're here to celebrate and have a good time. You old enough to have a pint, yet?

[Are there even drinking laws. Were there even drinking laws in Valisthea. Who knows—]

[He didn't really know how to read the room very well and basically blurted out whatever came first to his mind. When Cid wraps an arm about his neck and teasingly gives him a little shake before offering up a drink the teenager quickly shrugs his shoulders at the question.]

You tell me I just turned sixteen…I think? Yeah- Sixteen a couple months ago when I first got here!

[Sorry Cid he can barely even remember his own age after all the traumatic bullshit endured in his youth, living one day to the next just trying to survive he didn't really have time or money to celebrate his birthday let alone barely remembering the date itself. Although he's yet to really try beer or alcohol in general he wouldn't be opposed to it given they were all pirates and that's what they did was drink and steal, right?!]

[Should Cid really be the one to lead Denji down this line...should he be responsible.

Except the concept of "responsible drinking" goes out the window when the drinking age in Valisthea was significantly lower and Denji would have practically been considered an adult. So—]

Well then, you've more than earned your "rite of passage."

[A mischievous grin.]

A drink or two to see how you handle won't hurt.

[And guiding Denji over to the table.]

[Denji was half expecting his counterpart to tell him absolutely no way and to basically forget about it but was pleasantly surprised when Cid offered him up the chance to have a drink! A look of pure shock and awe was stricken over his face as his jaw goes slack before quickly being replaced by a fiendishly toothy grin, raising both arms high in the sky with closed fists as he shouts out loudly for everyone in the nearby vicinity to hear.]

FUCK YEAH!!! LETS GET DRUNK!!!

[Following hot on Cid's heels the teenager marches along with a pep in his step, whistling out happily until they stood before a table filled with various spirits aplenty. Denji had absolutely no idea what to try first so he looks towards his superior for some guidance as he puts forth the question.]

So uh...What do you suggest I try first man?!

[ramuhs]

[This is amusing. Usually many a child will have snuck a taste of ale long before now, so he has to wonder how Denji's world worked.]

While some enjoy tricking their younger compatriots with the strongest ale, I think it better if we go with something you might hopefully enjoy and not waltzing into tables after one sip.

[And they sure do have a variety. After a moment, Cid picks up a mug and taps one of the kegs to fill it with a golden color liquid before handing it over to Denji.]

This should do. It's a type of honey mead. Lower in alochol, but enough to still give some spirit to it.
