A - Early Recovery

[When Roxas wakes up, he is sore.

That's the first thing he notices. Everything aches and he feels sore. The second thing he notices is that he is not where he thought he was. He's staring up at a dark wooden roof, and not the dark, clouded skies from before. And he's not entirely sure what happened in between.

Slowly, as he comes to consciousness, memories of the fight start coming back and, oh right, the harpy. It hit him. He thinks. It does feel like he's been hit with a truck or a piece of building.

He tries to say something, tries to reach for something, but unfortunately he's stopped short by the bandages running up his arm and so all that comes out is:]

Ow.

[B - Later Recovery]

[After a few days, Roxas starts to feel better.

And this is a problem when you're still in recovery. Because better, for Roxas, means that he can be up and about and maybe doing the things he usually does. Because, if he's being honest, he's a bit bored. What can he say? He's an active kid who likes being active and lying in bed all the time is boring.

But he's not fully recovered yet, so he should probably take it easy.

Let's be real, though, Roxas doesn't know the meaning of the words. And if he can't get out of the door, he's leaving through the window.]

[It seems Izuku is becoming a sort of part time nurse for their crew. First there was Toge's injuries and his lost arm. Then it was Katsuki and his damaged eye. Now it's Roxas and his attack with the harpy.

He quietly enters the room with a box in hand when he notices that the other boy is awake.]

Roxas-kun... you're awake. Please, take it slowly... You're at the paladin barracks.

[Right, that's why this place looks familiar. It's his room, though sometimes it doesn't feel like it. (He misses his room in Twilight Town, even if it didn't really exist.)

He groans, pain making itself clear.]

...what happened? Is everyone okay?

Hm. Everyone is alright. Shaken up, but we're all doing our best to work on the damages to the ship. All the storms are over, too.

[With Katsuki and Toge still healing too it's a bit ... tricky. But Izuku comes to sit on the edge of the bed.]

How are you feeling?

Everything feels kind of sore.

[He's definitely stiff and feeling it from lying down so much. But there's a sense of relief, with everyone being okay.]

How bad is the ship?

It's nothing that we can't get fixed and replaced with time.

[Izuku nods. Roxas can stay here at the barracks if he wishes to. But the ship is good enough to stay in as well. Roxas can choose.]

I brought something for you to use, it might help with the soreness. They're healing sprays made by one of the paladin researchers.

[While he's been adjusting to the ocean, there's something to be said about staying in barracks. It just feels a little safer, being on, for lack of a better term given the whole monster island thing, solid ground.

He sighs.]

Sorry for breaking it.

[It wasn't him, it was the harpy, but if he'd been just a bit stronger.]

I...I think it would help. Everything still kind of hurts.

[Izuku shakes his head gently.]

You have nothing to be sorry for... That harpy attack. It was dangerous for all of us. We had no way of knowing how it would fight or move. I'm glad we're all okay.

[He pulls out one healing spray.]

I can help you with this, if you'd like?

[Roxas might have to show Izuku his chest injury again. But if Roxas wants to do it on his own Izuku will let him. Personal space is important.]

[It's the sort of stuff he should be able to deal with though. How many Heartless that size has he fought and defeated?]

Still...

[It's frustrating.

There's a pause as Roxas looks down, considering the bandages. He doesn't even know the state of himself.]

Yeah...I guess...It's not good, is it?

[Izuku sighs a little.]

There's no reason to be hard on yourself, Roxas-kun.

[And then he nods gently.]

You have a wound on your chest from when the harpy grabbed you. But I think it's healing well. It's better if I check it.

[Well, he's gonna be.

He looks down at the bandages again and sighs. This probably isn't going to be good.]

Alright. I guess.

[With that permission here goes nothing. Izuku reaches out to gently pull some of the bandages away to expose the healing wound. When he does that he'll use the spray to treat it carefully.]

Does that hurt...? I'll try to be as gentle as I can be.

[Once he's done he'll apply fresh bandages as well.]

[Roxas winces as the spray hits but not enough to complain. It's different than the effects of a Cure or a Potion, and it's not great.

But as the bandages are being changed, he frowns down at his wound.]

It...it's not good.

I'm sorry, Roxas-kun...

[The wound does look quite bad. But it's better than it was so Izuku is going to try and focus on that. He applies more of the disinfecting spray and cleans up what he can with gentle and precise hands.]

It looks like it's starting to heal, although it might be a slow process.

[He picks up the new clean bandages to use.]

Yeah...I kinda figured.

[You don't just take a hit like that and walk away. It's just tough, recovery. ]

Any idea how long?

[He probably can't just spam cure.]

Maybe a few weeks of taking it slowly, Roxas-kun. Can you lean forward a bit? I'll apply the fresh bandages.

[Since he's got to wrap Roxas' torso.]

[He does, with a sigh. He doesn't really have anything to say to that, other than just frustration.

It's a lot of time to not move. And to think.]

[Izuku feels just a smidge awkward with the silence but he diligently gets to work. Once Roxas' wounds are clean and dressed again, he nods...]

There. In the meantime, take it easy... Ne?

I'll try.

[It's about all he can promise right now.]

[Izuku nods...]

I'll let you get some rest. If you need anything, please say so.

[He offers a small smile.]

Right.

[He only just woke up and now he feels exhausted again. It doesn't seem fair. But it might explain why his answers are so short.]

[Izuku nods and leaves Roxas to his rest.]
