If I knew myself, I would run away

Who: Dongfang Qingcang + Anyone that was invited for Curse Research
Status: Closed
Where: Start on Nogard; Then to a ~mysterious location~
What: Daqiang is doing actual curse research, but also trying to get his Seven Emotion Tree killed
Warnings: Tricking people into attempting to harm him on false pretenses; emotional upheavals likely

Curse Research
Daqiang waited on the end of the pier for those he had appointments with that were able to get to Fang on their own. A small rented boat was waiting just a few steps further to take them to a more private location that would not jeopardize the Phantom Moon should something go astray while conducing the initial research. Be that tests on those who were cursed, testing the power of those who might be able to destroy the 'curse', or taking those who he'd agreed to destroy the 'curse' to it's location.

For those that knew him, he was dressed down from his usual attire. Those that were meeting him for the first time would find that, despite the sleeves being nearly floor-length and the robe trailing some, none of the cloth snagged on anything or seemed cause issues with his movement. Not in a 'used to wearing such clothing' way, but in a 'definitely something unnatural going on' way. His hair also fell immaculately down his back and even the heaviest gale didn't more than ruffle the ends. A clear anomaly in any strong winds.

Upon the arrival of one such appointment, he inclined his head and gestured towards the boat, "This venerable one intends to have us sail to a small island offshore. If you have objections, state them now."

Lonely Island

A cloud of black smoke and scattered orange sparks, like those shed by banked coals suddenly disturbed, surrounded both Daqiang and the person he teleported to the where the 'curse' was isolated.

The island was small and lush with a carpet of fresh, spring grass, but otherwise barren of any real life. The single tree that grew on it looked nearly dead. It's branches reaching upward toward the clear sky, brightly lit by the light of the sun, but only a few scattered buds of green growth could be seen. Growing, but struggling to do so. The sea around the island was calm and nothing could be seen on the distant horizon. Making it impossible to tell just where in the expansive, drowned world it might be - relative to the known major settlements, anyway.

"The tree holds the element of the curse that could be separated from the rest," Dongfang Qingcang explained as he released his hold on his passenger. He shook out his sleeves and tucked one hand behind his back. "If the tree can be killed, it should end the effect."

OOC Notes for Lonely Island
OOC: The tree is Daqiang's Seven Emotion Tree and it's located in his Sea of Heart - a metaphyscial location that is both literally a 'sea' and also represents his heart/mind/emotional center.

For those who are NOT psychic and/or a Xianxia immortal: It looks like a very fortunate discovery of a place to put a curse inside of that won't likely harm anyone if it does get blown up. Considering that Daqiang can teleport, it should not seem surprising that he'd be able to find it and then bring others to it. the only thing that is out of place is the lack of obvious tides or swells of waves - the sea is nearly flat and calm. unless you are familiar with Daqiang enough to know that his personal teleportation powers are limited to only himself

People with Psychic Abilities: will be able to tell that there's something strange about the island and the sea it's in, but unless they're familiar with the Xianxia media concept of a Heart Sea, will have difficulty telling what exactly is strange. At least at first. The more time spent in it, and the more attempts at damaging the tree are done, the more those psychically inclined will be able to tell there's something going on with Daqiang's mind (his mental protections will begin to waver so there will be flashes described in thread) and that it's tied to the tree somehow.

For All: No one will be able to do any real damage to the tree. After a few attempts, Daqiang will 'teleport' the participant back to the Fang docks and dismiss them with the excuse that the exercise was clearly a failure.

The person that will be able to realize IC that the attempt at destroying the tree is actually harming Daqiang has already been determined OOC (Nanaki/Red) and he'll be having a breakdown in that one as he finally admits he's stopped everyone else before they could do any real damage out of fear that it might actually work - he doesn't actually want to lose his emotions, but needs to be pushed into realizing it and confronting that!

Emet-Selch agrees readily to help Dongfang with their request. He sees no reason to refuse, and he would be lying if the intrigue and air of mystery didn't interest him.

So he shakes his head, looking somewhat amused. "Unless you mean to murder me - a terrible idea, by the way - I don't see what there is to object to. Cast off when you like."

What awaits them at this isolated island, he wonders, that the captain is so cautious about...?

Curse Research

Briefly, Miriam had wondered if she'd be able to find someone she'd essentially only exchanged letters with. But almost as soon as she'd gotten to the port, she'd spotted someone who certainly didn't fit the dress code of the dockworkers and carried themselves with a dignity that seemed out of place here. Almost...uncanny, really.

The black haired woman had been truthful about her curse's appearance; there were crystal flowers clearly visible on her chest, arms, and back. The latter was hardest to conceal, with it being raised from her body like a glass figurine. So she often didn't bother; a helpful thing, this time. The man didn't have any trouble spotting her either.

"You are...Yuezun, yes? I do not. Lead the way."

This interaction is an everyday one for a Trailblazer like Stelle. In all the worlds she has visited to date (which isn't a lot), there have always been people seeking her aid, promising rewards or just begging her for the help they so desperately need. All ended with her running from one end of the planet to the other, and some even across planets.

It doesn't bother her at all to do these errands. They grant her peeks into people's lives, and make the journey all the more interesting.

So she arrives at the dock without an ounce of tension in her body, peering curiously this way and that at all the sights of Nogard. She even took the time to check on all the trash cans at the dock, and then any unattended boxes or packages laying around.

Hopefully, Daqiang isn't watching her slowly meander her way towards him...

Oh, so he was watching. She's not at all embarrassed to be discovered rifling through trash and packages like some common pest. She just nods and waves as she approaches him, vanishing whatever she'd picked up through her digging into her subspace storage.

Don't worry about it Daqiang.

Anyway, she tilts her head curiously at him. What does he want her to do?
