The topic of marrying Toge has most certainly come up before. When mentioning that his family name is part of the issue, Shoto had one simple thing to say about it. Fix it by marrying him and taking his name instead. Now it wasn't just that which prompted him to say it, or feel so comfortable even after being kindly rejected, but it's never far from his mind. He is determined one day that he will marry the sorcerer he is currently holding the hand of. One day it won't just be a plus one situation at a party, it will be a plus one situation as a permanent show of his love to anyone who sees situation. Technically still a plus one, but a bigger plus one. Bold italic plus one.
For a while now he's been considering at least getting him a ring of some sort, he knows there's promise rings. Or now he does, at least. This festival hadn't really not taught him a lot. Just not enough. He has been looking at the rings they're passing on a certain stall. Finally he pauses when he sees one of the motifs of the interlocking rings.
After pausing, he looks back over at Toge. "It's not a yes if it's just something nice to try on, even just for now."
He'd like to say he's a little surprised that Shoto brought it up again, but he kind of isn't. It's not that he doesn't love Shoto - he definitely does. He's just worried because they're pretty young for this conversation, although he's been dating him for well over half a year and frankly it's seemed like a long time. In a good way. He feels closer and closer to Shoto even though they've even run into some conflict.
They've gotten through it together. He's opening himself up more and more to Shoto which is a difficult thing for him.
So. He's not that surprised. He titters a bit of a giggle behind his mask. Something nice to try on for now huh? He's not that far from eighteen, but all the same, here at least things don't feel so harried and full of pressure like they do at home.
The rings are pretty, that's for sure, but when he spots some that sparkle like the ice they share, he can't help but point them out.
Those ups and downs they've worked through are exactly the reason that Shoto is willing to sign the papers any time that Toge hands him the pen. They're a team and he's never been such a functional team as with this sorcerer. Toge is kind and patient, loving and careful. He shouldn't be surprised. It's true.
Shoto's eyes turn to where his sweetheart is pointing and he tilts his head to look at them. "Those are also really nice, Toge. Do you want to try those on?" He's assuming 'yes' but it's not a trick question. He won't be forcing an answer out of him. "I like them, too."
Shoto likes to cut corners where water is involved. If he doesn't have to be in it, he doesn't. Half his quirk doesn't work in it and he runs the risk of using his ice and not being able to control it well enough. That means that being under the water, let alone swimming in it, is something he doesn't often do. When did he ever have time to learn to swim efficiently? Never. Why would a "hero" training him to use fire ever water train him aside throwing the water on him? Never.
Now's the time considering he's also going to be, more than figuratively, jumping into the deep end. Dressed to the nines in a set of blue swim trunks, Shoto applies the scales to his body, waiting for them to spread and sighs softly when it takes, but doesn't overtake him. Maybe he's not out deep enough? Alright so he moves a little deeper, somewhere around mid-shin while he sits down into the water and tries again. He could probably use some help, or if there's no one who knows how to efficiently swim instead of just shallows, a little instruction. Or maybe just some company while he's trying to attune.
Katsuki, like Shoto, prefers not to be in water due to his quirk. The water washes away the sweat and thus makes it impossible for him to use his quirk when he's wet. But it's been stupidly hot and he could use a dip to cool off.
Shoto is lucky that, despite not being the hugest fan of water, Katsuki can in fact swim. He spies Shoto just. Sitting in the shallows. And comes over to plop down beside him in the low waves.
"Gonna get sand in your shorts this way. The hell are you doing?" He peers at the scales.
Shoto can hear the slosh of the water as he takes the scales off, giving them a moment or two before he realizes it's someone approaching and verifies who. Bakugo! He really enjoys time with him, so when he sits down, Shoto gives the scales a rest for a moment.
He looks down, though, at his swim trunks, concerned at sand. That sounds. ...Uncomfortable and he makes a tiny face about it. "These scales are supposed to apply to my body, to help me swim down there safely. But I have to attune to them... That's all I know." Not how to.
Thankfully, no matter how it happened, he's finally gotten around to being able to use the scales. Speaking of, he's brought an extra set of scales that settle on his fingertips as well. Dragon scales. They're a little more pointy and since he can't use his ice safely under the water with predictability, these are his weapons against something without boiling the water around him or freezing it, which could be dire and grave to people with him, himself and the ecosystem that he doesn't want to destroy.
"I only have two hours with these scales. But I'm sure that we can come back, or find a lot out in this spot before we leave. If not, then even confirming what others have seen will be valuable."
Toge had probably mentioned the next time they were ashore in town proper he was going to get his tattoo touched up. He did, but as a surprise he got a second one added to it. The tattooist he met before wasn't there, but there was a moogle.
Now, of course, everything has gone wrong and he's gone off to find Shoto, cat ears perked up, little fangs behind his mask and a tail lashing behind him. Isn't this a terrible outcome? It's unexpected!
Yet, when he sees Shoto, his tail curls up like a question mark as he approaches him. "Kelp!"
Toge might sound a little harried, but his ears are twitching curiously. Strangely enough, there's no sound of footsteps to warn Shoto he's coming, he's going to have to rely on his voice alone.
Shoto maybe should've gone with him, but there's the want to let him do more on his own as well. Not that he doesn't want to go, he loves time with Toge, but everyone has to do things on their own sometimes. Plus it was going to be fun to see what the touchups were. Colour? Who knows.
Well, not either of them because if he hadn't heard his boyfriend call out to him, he wouldn't have even turned around. When he does he's met with a hell of a sight. At first he thinks it's an ear band. Cute, he approves, he was making plans to approve it later in the sanctity of their room too. But then the tail and his eyebrows come together, looking at how realistic it is. Is this magitek? Maybe it's... is it an engine prototype? "Toge..." Is all he can say.
The more he looks the less those ears look like they're attached to a headband. "...Excuse me." he says to be polite as he reaches out to touch one of the fluffy, moving ears.

Definitely Probably Not.
