Welcome to the Test Drive Meme for [community profile] escordvi! Anyone can participate in the test drive, regardless of invite eligibility. Just keep in mind that only those who have secured invites from players or mods can actually reserve on October 25th and apply on November 1st. Our EMP/ATP can be found here. We do require TDM threads for samples for our application, but toplevels are not required. Tagging out is fine!

For your toplevel, please include the following: Character Name | Canon | Armada Choice | TDM (IF TDMING). Current players can use the same header, just without the "TDM" label. We do require those who are TDMin'g to include the label so other players can distinguish between others.

For everyone's convenience, TDM threads can be carried over in game if you wish! If you are still unsure which armada to place your character, you can play it a bit loose and vague in the TDM and make retroactive changes if you carry over the threads. The log itself is set to cover starting from October 13th until the end of the month. Characters will appear at random intervals during this time rather than all at once, so players have some more flexibility on how much more adjusted they are for someone else.

If you have any question about the TDM, comment here. If you have questions about the game in general, please comment to the Game Info.

GETTING STARTED

This section can be timed for any time after October 13 until the end of the month, which includes during the current event. These prompts are to benefit those TDMing, but this portion can be handwaved instead and be served as a reference for players to know what their character will have experienced and learned on arrival.

STARTER SHIPS There are two ships that serve as starting ships for each armada: Stormbringer for the Corsairs, and Royal Fortune for the Paladins. There are various ways new arrivals—or riftfarers as they will be called, among other creative names—will appear on or by these ships.

🚪 Random room. It could be empty, filled with crates or supplies; down in the hull where the livestock are kept; have the luck to awaken in a bed...or the misfortune of that bed already occupied; somewhere in the kitchens; in the bathroom—any room! Now let's hope the doors can open or someone may have to try and ask for help. Or jump through the porthole if there is one and it's above water.
On deck. If not in the ship itself, another possible spot to wake up to is somewhere on the maindeck. If they're lucky, they're on the deck itself. More unfortunate souls may find themselves caught in the sails or netting, the crow's nest, or on the top of the masts. Someone should be able to help, right? Or catch.
🌊 In the water. The most unlucky sods will find themselves appearing in mid-air just past the ship and plummeting straight into the water. Good news, there's always someone on the look out for such a thing and calls for help to throw a lifesaver get the rowboat will be made. Are there sharks? Well... ...Are there?

However the new riftfarers arrive, they will be poorly clothed, practically rags or loose uniforms depending on the ship. Fortunately, veteran crewmates will guide them, escorting them to a room with a strange typewriter in it. After typing their name, the typewriter will magically continue and type by itself at a fast pace until it dings and rolls out the paper. This paper will have the following information:

Name and Shellphone ID (journalname)
Armada (Corsair or Paladin, will match the starter ship)
Cabin Number for their personal cabin on the starter ship
Apartment Address for their personal address at their base armada location
• A basic map of the starting locations in Eltrut, including written directions (continued in the Eltrut section)
• A basic map of where they can find a chest with their original clothes and belongings (this will be different for every person and will be anywhere either on the starter ship or on Eltrut—players can be creative here).

After that, the crewmate will do their best to explain the basics of how they got here, what's going on, and what they'll need to do to live in Escordvi while they are here, giving them a small leather pouch with money. They will be reaching Eltrut soon, so the crewmate will suggest they look around, meet the others who have arrived. Even from their distance, they will be able to see the giant sea turtle that serves as Eltrut's leviathan.

ON ELTRUT Once in Eltrut, the new riftfarers will be greeted by several birdfolk who will be happy to give tours to those who may need them. Otherwise, anyone is free to roam as they please and will have a map for the following main places they should visit.

🐚 Microshell. The first stop that is encouraged will be Microshell, the main store to acquire their own personal Shellphone. The paper they received on their starter ship will have their ID and the staff at the store will set them up, explaining how the device and the network works.
✒️ Inkwave, Tattoo Parlor. The next stop is Inkwave, a tattoo parlor run by a very burly but friendly octopus, Knistej. Here everyone receives their own unique magic tattoo, allowing anyone to cast specific single element spells and other magic. Note: tattoos are required before anyone will be able to use their original magical abilities.
📜 MANTA office. The final stop is the MANTA office, where all the request, mission, and task notices are posted. Each armada has their own branch office for armada specific notices as well. A great place to find jobs to earn some cash so they don't stay a hobo forever.

ELTRUT: FESTIVAL

The Ghoul's Moon Festival is founded on an ancient tradition where in late October when the moon turns red, so red that it makes the ocean waters look as if it is filled with blood, undead and ghostly creatures go on a rampage and attack the living. Festivals were found to appease the angered spirits, and while such attacks haven't been seen in centuries, the festival remains. Thus throughout the month, Eltrut has been hard at work in getting the main port town, Shellton, and leviathan ready. On October 25th, when the sun sets, and the full blood red moon rises in the night sky, the giant leviathan will shake a little before revealing its festive form. Eltrut's entire shell will be a pumpkin which can later be "harvested" to help return it to normal, but that's for later. For now, the leviathan is in happy spirits and will crane its neck on occasion to watch everyone.

Although not required, costumes are available for anyone who may want to join in on the fun, along with silly prank weapons. Most of the festivities will be found starting from the docks up to the main plaza and down some side streets where various booths and stalls have been set up. From traditional booth games like candy ring toss, darts, water gun targets to more unique games such as bobbing for apple skulls, mask decoration, and catching the anglerfish.

👻 Ghost Piñatas. In a designated square, there is a game where cardboard ghosts are filled with candy and small toys, and with blindfolds and plastic mallets, the "ghost hunters" must run around and try to hit the ghost with the aid of people directing. Someone else is controlling the ghost with magic, moving it around to up the difficulty. It's meant for fun, but some people are messing around. Those not helping out or participating should stop them!
🛢️ Build-A-Barrel Boat. Out by the docks, a special "boat" competition is being held. Decorate a special barrel tubs large enough to fit two people into the spookiest "boat" possible. Afterwards, they must put it in the water and try to "race" against others to the finish line with oars. Don't worry, there are people waiting to help fish them out should their boat sink.
😜 Pranked. It's up to the Corsairs to try and throw their best pranks on unsuspecting festival goers. But there are of course those who are trying to prank them, so it's a bit chaotic out there, with unwitting victims getting caught in the crossfire.

Along with the usual street foods like paella, taiyaki, or khachapuri, there are plenty of special offerings for the holiday:

🥮 Moon Cakes. With a shiny red crust, these special cakes will make one's skin shine red like the Ghoul's Moon itself.
🍡 Fruit and Pumpkin Skewers. Skewers of fresh fruit and pumpkin glazed in hard red candy or dusted with chili powder will have that bit of spice that will give one a more energetic temper than usual.
🥐 Skull Buns. Sweet bread buns topped with skulls and crossbones that will sometimes make someone break into dance.
🦑 Hornswaggle's Vengeance. Hornswaggle has returned, upgrading their ghost pepper squid stir-fry with ghoul peppers, guaranteed to make you breathe actual flames!
🍬 Sour Candy. There are reports of candy making people sick and the Paladins are in charge of the investigation. Unfortunately, descriptions of the suspects are completely random with many innocent people becoming accused. In the meantime, replacing the candy is a high priority, and anyone can assist the Paladins trying to find and replace the ruined candy.

After the harrowing events with the Ghost Ship, on the night of October 31st, everyone will gather to witness the special fireworks display. The original crew even managed to adjust the performance to include a brief rendition of the battle against the undead, as well as something to honor Eltrut and Naughtilust for their brave efforts to help defend.

NAUGHTILUST: MASQUERADE

On the evening of the 30th, the Naughtilust will steadily make its way over towards Eltrut and stop within ferryboat distance of Shellton. The two leviathans will greet each other with friendly accord, the Naughtilust presenting its friend with a large floating shell filled with delicious treats for it to enjoy. All the shops, taverns, inns, brothels, and all entertainment services will be open all night long, and while the main target audience are adults, they do provide some "safe," family friendly entertainment for the younger crowd. Special dancers, musicians, and other entertainers line the streets on the Naughtilust to provide all kinds of delight.

However, the main highlight is the grand masquerade which is held at the Helice Palace, one of the largest and grandest buildings on the leviathan. As its name suggests, it is designed to fit the image of royalty, with large gardens, multiple ballrooms, grand halls, private and public terraces, and enough rooms to house any guest who may wish to spend the night (with a partner). Normally one would have to pay a hefty fee, but for the Ghoul's Moon, the sirens are opening it up for one grand fee of attending the masquerade and dressing one's best. They will even provide gowns, suits, and masks for those who need them. The masquerade itself is open to all, young and old, however what happens beyond the ballroom may require some adult supervision.

It's still the Naughtilust, after all.

Set in one of the largest ballrooms, guests are ushered in with the sound of a orchestra playing classical music, though some may notice more "modern" songs adapted to the classic style. For those who may want a little more privacy, there are several small terraces and balconies that can be used. Just be sure to lower the curtains and lock the doors if they want true privacy.

🕶 Blind Dancing. The sirens will randomly cast an enchantment on various people's masks to make them unable to see. They will then be forcibly paired with another "blinded" partner and only after the dance will the enchantment wear off. During this time, the pair will feel very friendly towards each other. Perhaps even attracted…?
💎 Gems. The sirens will also randomly stick special gems that will increase that particular personality trait of the wearer: white = coy; blue = wistful; green = jealousy; pink = flirty; red = lustful; purple = friendly; yellow = bold; orange = mischievous. The strength of the effect varies and multiple can be applied at once.
🥂 Refreshments. For those feeling peckish, long cream-filled doughnuts and oysters in the half shell line the buffet tables, along with indulgent foods like chocolate-covered bacon and deep-fried duck eggs drizzled with tamarind sauce—all of which will cause anyone who eats them to feel a bit more flirtatious. There is a variety of cocktails, but the champagne may also make one feel a bit more "bubbly."

Outside in the gardens, many can take a romantic stroll under the blood red moon. The gardens boast a number of different flora, small hedge mazes, gazebos, and fine statues for those to enjoy. There are also many shaded corners and little hideaways that couples can hide in should they wish to enjoy something else.

💐 Flower Arrangements. Out in one of the courtyards, there are several tables set up for anyone to make their own special bouquet of flowers. Unfortunately, some of the flowers have been changed to have special pollen that upon inhaling will induce unintended effects: sleepiness, amorous, giggly, boisterous, etc. The strength of the effect can vary and fortunately will only last for up to ten minutes. Multiple effects can take place at once and will "refresh" with every sniff.
🏮 Firefly Lanterns. The gardens are filled with special fireflies whose light can ward off malicious spirits and ghouls. Guests are welcome to try and catch a few to create their own paper lanterns and decorate them for the holiday. The fireflies are quick and hard to catch, but a little song (even humming) may lull them to be still.
🍷 Fountain Bump. Further out in the gardens at the Fontana Del Vino, red wine is pouring out and a few…bold guests have started a game where one must stand at the top of the statue and try to "bump" each other off using vigorous hip checks. Fortunately the height isn't too far and the fountain deep enough for those who fall through…just hope someone is sober enough to pull them out.

Even after the events of the Ghost Ship, the Naughtilust will remain so that the masquerade can be held again on the following night. The terraces will provide a great view of the fireworks.

GHOST SHIP

Late night on the 30th, when the clock strikes midnight to turn to October 31st, the blood red moon will seem to glow and a thick fog will suddenly roll in, a large, ghastly looking ship appearing in the distance. By this time, many may have started to turn if they are not still up partying. Regardless, everyone will get a rude awakening when screams fill the docks as all manner of undead climb up onto the piers and shores of Eltrut—ghosts, ghouls, zombies, skeletons. Realizing that these are the real thing and not drunk sailors in costumes, the call to arms is made, bells ringing and sirens blaring as those who are able rush in to defend.

Eltrut and Naughtilust won't remain still, the two leviathans using their abilities to fend off the undead. Eltrut causes the water to boil around it, temporarily halting further invasion. Naughtilust, meanwhile, will reach out with one of its tentacles and grab the ship, lifting it into the air before slamming it into the ocean. At first it looks as if the two leviathans could handle this on their own, but there's a bright flash of red light from the ship and the two groan in distress, flinching back and both retreating to their shells. Whatever it was, it was enough to inflict enough pain to force them to momentarily retreat.

With the leviathans out, cannons and trebuchets armed with large holy pumpkins are quickly maneuvered to launch long range attacks from both Eltrut and Naughtilust and everyone must fight the undead from the initial wave. Those who have divinity magic will bless everyone and their weapons to deal with the undead. Silver will also be effective, and that includes silverware. Finally, shoving candy in their mouths and playing music will be highly effective in at least stunning the undead, and may even placate the attacker. Perhaps there really is something to the old tales.

Ships with able bodied crew are sent out to approach the ship and find the source that is powering it to destroy it.

The large galleon was damaged and lodged in a reef from Naughtilust's attack, but despite the notable damage their ghostly cannons still fire and the ship shows no signs of sinking. There are several levels below deck, and undead sailors and monsters fill the ship. The strange red light will pulse periodically from the bottom, indicating they need to fight through to get to it.

🪓 Axing Skeletons. On the main deck, giant skeletons wielding large axes will be stationed to defend against those boarding the ship. With a wide sweep of their ax, they can cut through anything in their way—including their own. But their large size does hinder their movements, and a well aimed attack to their shins can knock them down.
🎃 Pumpkin Bombs. Watch out for these monsters! Appearing like large pumpkins, these monsters will grow in size the longer they are agitated until their eyes burst into flames, the only warning before they explode in hot pumpkin chunks to cause significant damage. Destroy them before they burst.
🎯 Traps. Besides the questionable integrity of the ship itself, there are many traps that can be triggered by one wrong step or misplaced hand. Trap doors, revolving walls, giant cobwebs with ghoulish spiders, living chains attempting to bind victims, locked rooms with shrinking walls.

Hidden deep within the hull of the ship is the relic that unleashed the devastating attack and empowered the undead. It's a very large black tombstone with unreadable script and symbols carved into it and what looks like fresh blood poured into each groove. So large it reaches the ceiling. Perhaps the more academic inclined will want to take some pictures before smashing it, and it will take a number of people to physically destroy it. But it won't be easy as undead sailors will rush in to defend it.

When dawn breaks, the ghost ship will have been destroyed and fade away into the sun. Any remaining undead will also burn away and disappear. Although things are a bit of a mess and many injuries sustained, with the victory bolstering spirits, most things are repaired and salvaged for the final night of the Ghoul's Moon festival. The festival will go on, as will the fireworks.

QUESTS

The current MANTA Board is available, but we have a couple of additional quests that are specific for the event! Teaming up is of course encouraged, no matter what the affiliation. You can assume they acquired some kind of ship for the quests out at sea, either the starter ship or some other ship heading out there. All quests will be worth 4 points.

Corpse-a-Corps
Eltrut Island

A man is trying to create a walking living man out of dead body parts. He is convinced that he can bring the creature to life using a powerful lightning bolt of some kind. Because of this he has been stealing body parts from local graves.

Find this man and stop him before he can create his abomination. And burn down his controversial laboratory before anyone else can get a hold of these wild ideas. Help put the families and loved ones at ease by returning their lost ones and their parts to their graves, proper.

Hungry-la Island
???

A very curious type of tree has recently been discovered on a small walkable island. It seems to be trees that have the ability to magically grow fried chicken legs that hang like pears or apples. And some look like they’re decorated with fully cooked honey-glazed hams. The bark looks curiously like crispy bacon and the leaves like perfectly tenderized pork tenderloins. That’s right, it’s growing meat. Somehow. And boy, does it look delicious.

Since this is a new discovery no one knows if any of these trees are actually delicious or not. Care to try a bite or two? After a long voyage at sea with only lemons and oranges it might be a treat to have some savory things to eat instead.

Guileful Grimalkin
All Islands

Strange black creatures have appeared and are sneaking around various ports to steal people’s wallets and valuables. When they’re confronted or caught they seem to emit high pitched screeches and will scratch and bite and do whatever they can to escape!

Keep your wallet and shiny things secure and catch any of these little demons before they cause too much ruckus!

Conch Shells Stories
All Islands

Pretty conch shells have been washing up on various shores all over the islands. When they are held up to your ear they seem to whisper stories from someone far, far away.

These stories can be from people from your own home worlds, or they can be stories from long-lost friends, loved ones or even the deceased. These magical conch shells will repeat the same story if listened to again. Sometimes it's nice to carry old memories…

Zechs Merquise | Gundam Wing | Paladin | TDM

[personal profile] zechs_isonfire 2023-10-13 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I. CONSCRIPTION

[ Zechs isn’t exactly asking to be pulled from the ocean - spluttering and looking rather like a drowned rat with his sopping wet hair and soaked, torn uniform. ]

[ Through the various gashes and tears in his clothes, barely more than rags, his rescuer might be able to glimpse some fantastically horrific burn scars, a year old now, and perhaps more stunning for being so extensive even still after that time. ]

[ He’s rather hoping you don’t notice them, however. It seems whatever kind of uniform this was had long sleeves, at least, and might have been well-tailored to fit him had it not been reduced to rags. ]

[ Once on the deck of the ship, he’d cough out more water before hoarsely saying; ]

You have my thanks.

[ … Where was he? ]

II. INITIATION

[ Ahoy, Corsairs. Were you looking for a rather stuck-up looking Paladin to prank? ]

[ In a restored blue-and-silver uniform, Zechs felt deeply uncomfortable wearing someone else’s colors, and was trying not to let on. With all of the ghostly decorations and festivities, it only leant him additional fantasies that he’s invoking his dead friend’s ghost, somehow. His deep discomfort combined with his sense of awkwardness - he’s never participated in any of these kinds of games or festivities, even as a child - meant that Zechs was 110% wearing a resting bitch face, unintentionally sneering at everything. ]

[ Honestly, it looked like he deserved some solid pranking. ]

III. FAMILIAR

[ It was time for the masquerade. The choice of an odd, silver-white helmetish mask might seem strange to most people. It only made Zechs smirk, wry and unamused, when it’s forced on his head. If the theme was ghosts, then, well. He might as well impersonate a dead man, a man he no longer was. ]

[ He might be blinded and forced to dance, and regardless of the gender of said partner (or lack thereof), he’ll be a little stiff at first. Polite, formal, he’d say; ]
You have my apologies. It seems this place is rather fond of removing all choice from us.

[ Or Zechs might be pushed into some wine once he’s trying to escape the party via the gardens outside. Please, help him out of the fountain, if you would? Spluttering afterward, he’ll note; ] I think I’ve had far worse. Perhaps this might be served in glasses instead.

IV. COMFORTABLE AT LAST

[ Finally, he’s in his element. Well. Fine. He’s never fought giant skeletons, tried to disarm pumpkin bombs, or free people from supernatural traps before. But let’s just say that Zechs was very adaptable, and few things outside of himself scared him. ]

[ In fact, if someone else should need a hand when trapped, whether paladin or corsair, Zechs would be at the ready, lightning-quick, with a snatched sword to slice them free from their bonds. His reflexes are rather absurdly good, so he’d be quick to dispatch the bombs thrown on board the ship - perhaps just barely sparing someone from being covered in chunks of pumpkin. And certainly he’d work in tandem with another to take down one of the huge, shambling skeletons. ]

The joint in the heel! Slice through that, and it’ll fall!
seemagicshit: (shit yeah!)

Zhao Tianyou | Yakuza: Like a Dragon | OTA | Corsair | TDM

[personal profile] seemagicshit 2023-10-13 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Build a Boat

[Zhao is whistling a little tune while he works on his boat for the race. Rather than adding anything to help its speed, he's busy painting an elaborate and slinky dragon all around the outside. He looks up from his work.]

Hey. You mind helping or at least getting more yellow paint for me? If I'm launching this boat to win, it's gonna be tricked the fuck out, yeah?

Blind Dancing

[It's a little disconcerting to lose his sight momentarily. But -- as it's part of the whole masquerade experience -- he doesn't lose his footing. He's had to throw together his own outfit and he's quite pleased. A tiger mask, a yellow silk shirt embroidered with an orange leaf design and buttoned with darkly stained wood togs, black silk pants and all black hi-tops (even the soles) painted with yellow around all the eyeholes for the shoelaces completes his ensemble. He's especially proud of the shoes, which look more like boots with the design he chose.

Until he bumps into someone.
]

Aw shit, sorry, can't really see right now.

Axing Skeletons

[Zhao has learned to not even ask questions about anything anymore. Fighting undead bullshit is actually a little more exciting than fighting random assholes all over Ijincho. He throws himself into combat, diving under the arc of an axe, and twisting his body up to pepper the skeleton's shin with enough kicks to make Chun-Li proud.]

Okay, get ready to fuck this guy up!

Or engage Zhao in the shenanigans of your choice, he's pretty chill like that.

Daria Morgendorffer - Daria - Corsair - TDM

[personal profile] standingonmyneck 2023-10-13 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Here we go again.

[It felt like yesterday when Daria woke up in an unfamiliar place almost entirely unprompted. Well, it's only happened a couple of times. Weird though that it happened that many.

It took her a second to realize she was in a...crow's nest, and another additional second to realize she was in the universe's worst clothes. They didn't fit her hardly at all. The gods being unkind to fit her in almost completely fallen apart rags that sagged and dragged in inopportune areas. Okay, so, a ship.

Step one: get off ship and figure out where the hell you are.

There's some weird girl wandering around the deck now in very gross and hideous clothes, even for what newcomers might come in.]

Ah, super.

[Weird girl sighting, maybe approach?]

2. A night for pranks. Or maybe her glasses got pranked. Whichever. Now leave me alone.

[At some point she was going to have to leave the ship and figure things out in the open. Thankfully, as much as Daria hated dressing up, there were outfits and costumes for what looked like a Halloween festival thing. This was safe. So Daria started cautiously wandering around, looking over the stalls and cheap, totally not scammy, games. Some of the party go-ers were very rude; shoving and pushing her, accidentally knocking off her glasses, etc.

Maybe at one point, you could find her losing her glasses and helping a blind girl...? Or perhaps you caught her trying to screw with people who got on her last nerve; maybe they pranked her or tried to steal from her. None the less, she could probably spook them. She doesn't move a single muscle on her face doing it, speaking in that serious monotone.]

I'm sure you heard about the spirit that haunts these grounds, I have. You better be careful out there. In all of the nights, I'd hate to see these streets covered in-

[Details.]

3. Snacks? Snacks...?

[Needless to say, she didn't trust the food. In fact, she was staring at the bountiful offerings and looking around. Her stomach would loudly lurch but...distrust.

Maybe you caught her staring really hard and not moving a muscle on eating a thing. God, she was hungry. But she didn't want to be hungry and stupid. She's had cursed food before.]

4. Gardens.

[Daria would be seen doing various things here. It was more quiet, secluded. Some events include:

a) Walking calmly along the gardens and gazing at the flowers. The effects come and go.

b) Sitting by and watching the lanterns other makes with a source of additional light and writing something or reading a book she found. Peace.

c. She literally just walked by the fountain and fate decided to splash her front in red wine. Of course.]

i. STORMBRINGER—on deck
[Okay. So. A whole lot has happened over a very short period of time, and even though Alphen has ticked all of the necessary getting-started checkboxes, he still looks a bit…shocked by the whole thing.

I mean, who wouldn't be after being magically kidnapped and told "yer a pirate, Alphen!" Iron Mask, Blazing Sword, Sovereign—and now Corsair? It's a lot.

He's spending a lot of time on deck, right now. Nothing like some fresh air to help you think! …and maybe make you feel a little nostalgic, too. But you can be sure he's not just standing around looking pensive—he's been put to work helping people out of the precarious arrival conditions. Maybe you're one of those people? He can be found untangling people from nets, throwing life preservers to those in the water, and he might even end up catching some poor soul who appeared in midair.]

Steady now. I've got you. Are you alright?

[Later, as the sun sets, he finally takes a bit of a break. Yeah, this one's the "randomly talking to people" prompt. He's a friendly guy, so he'll talk to just about anyone—that being the case, don't be surprised if he offers a friendly smile and starts up a conversation.]

It still seems so hard to believe. Are the people here really from all kinds of different worlds?

ii. ELTRUT
a—riftfaring riffraff
[Oh boy, give this idiot technology. That won't go wrong in any way. Alphen immediately starts playing around with the Shellphone, trying to figure out how it works. It's not as if there was no tech on Dahna…just that most Dahnans weren't actually allowed to use it. So it's kind of interesting, having this thing that is, as far as he can tell, just his. To play around with.

Hence the following video message.]

To: everyone, unfortunately

[It's his face. A really unflattering angle on his face. He seems to be muttering to himself.]

—see. So if I tap on this… [The video makes a few standard device tapping sounds as he deadass presses random buttons to see what they'll do. The video does some interesting things, flipping around and then turning so it's facing the ground and his feet.] I don't understand. Is it supposed to be doing something? I guess I can just keep pushing dif—

[oh, look, he found the off switch!]

[Anyway, after he's had his stupid "fun" with the Shellphone, he goes about exploring the area. He can be found in plenty of different places, but seems most fascinated by the octopus doing tattoos. You'd think the man had never seen an octopus, right?

Joke's on you. He hasn't.]

I guess all those arms would come in handy for this kind of work, huh.

[He, too, is sporting one: the Sovereign crest, over his left shoulder.]

b—festival
[Alphen's first stop is the food. What can I say—he is but a simple man. In all honesty, he'll gravitate toward the spicy stuff, starting with the fruit-and-pumpkin skewers. When the vendors refuse to just give him the chili powder so he can dump an utterly unhinged amount on, he decides to try something else.

Ghoul pepper squid stir-fry? Don't mind him, he's downing it. All of this spicy food he eats without breaking a sweat, no matter how hot it is.]

It's not bad— [he'll say to anyone joining him in this stir-fry challenge.] The flames might be overkill, though. It wasn't that spicy.

[Wasn't that spicy?? Sir. Please.]

iii. NAUGHTILUST—masquerade
[To say that Alphen looks less than thrilled might just be an understatement. He doesn't seem to mind the outfit he's been put in—though he doesn't seem to find the white a particularly useful color—but the mask? That's got him feeling some kind of way.]

Is this really necessary?

[Like…hasn't he spent enough time wearing masks?? Come on.

Anyway, once he Gets Over It, he finds himself enjoying the party overall. They didn't really have parties on Dahna—not like this, at least. So it's kind of interesting. It's also a way to meet new people. While he's looking for a few people in particular, he'll strike up a conversation with just about anyone.]

I. when i think about you, oh, oh, oh; ( ► arrival. )

a.
[ perhaps unsurprisingly, the waters are far from still today. is it possible they anticipate the arrival of new blood? maybe, or just as likely is that there's at least one arrival making waves. there's little time for the confusion to set in for aerith, who had already been wet with rainwater when she'd plonked down into the sea. at leas, she's aware enough to be cognizant of the fact she should have been, but it hardly metters because she's soaked to the very bone now.

by the time she's found some driftwood or plank or something equally woody to cling to, aerith's near the last one in the water, if not the sole remainder, clinging onto her makeshift raft much in the same way a cub clings to it's mother. ]

Hello? Over here! [ one arm up, body half submerged, the girl with long oaken toned hair is desperately trying to catch someone's attention. literally anyone will do— although, it's only a matter of time until she attracts something else with all that movement, isn't it? ]

Help! Please? [ at least she's polite. ]

b.
Look out below! [ you've found yourself crossing beneath a bridge, whereupon two staircases bookend the structure. Through the hollow of it, you can hear the echo of a chipper warning, and then a whistling noise...

before a chest slams into the cobblestone before you.

look up, and you'll see a young woman with long, wavy, brown hair and green eyes pouting dramatically, arms crossed and elbows balanced upon the lip of the bridge. she says nothing for a time, one brow raised in consideration and lip only slightly upturned in disappointing before she humorlessly quips: ]

Did it break?

[ she's wearing the rags of riftfarers, and has seemingly hauled her... chest... all this way just to drop it. hm. ]

II. when i think about you, oh, oh; ( ► ghoul's moon festival. )

a.
[ by the time the festival has rolled around, aerith has thankfully managed to smash into her chest, somehow, and is now wearing her hair up with her iconic ribbon pinning a long rope braid into place. it's not so easy to spot her, however, as it's gone a particularly sweet shade of pumpkin orange in order to match her costume; she's eagerly plucked out a devil costume, you see, peter pan pants and all. it hardly matters, though, because misfortune strikes her quite early into the evening: ]

Ow! [ payback for the bridge incident, maybe? someone, blindfolded, has smacked her with a mallet. to their credit, she's almost the same size as the cardboard ghosts? ] Not me!

[ a beat.

another mallet smack. ]
Hey!

b.
[ if there is one thing about aerith that will simply not change regardless of where the powers that be shall deposit her, it's that she will always help someone out. as such, she can be spotted peddling a number of goods out in the streets during the festival, and by god, she is good at it. chipper, friendly, and happy to rely on her charm as a young woman, aerith is a hardworking saleswoman who... won't force you into it, but look: do you really want to turn down free food? ]

Here, for you. [ by the time she's found you, the goods are nearly depleted. as such, she bothers little with giving a price for them; but should you trust her? really? she's holding up a plate, half gone and littered with remnants of flakes, a benign and sweet smile playing at her lips.

a note: i'll be randomizing whatever she's handing out, so if you want a preference, please state it! ]

III. flowers grow out of my grave; ( ► grand masquerade. )

a.
[ there is a woman dress in red, hair decorated with live, sweet smelling flowers, matching sandal heels and a mask with jewels that, if you look closely, seem to map out constellations. maybe they're real, maybe they're not. who is to say? she never really dawdles in one spot for long, and seems to avoid the dancefloor. perhaps there's a reason, or maybe it's just as simply shyness nipping at her starry heels.

as such, you'll see her again, out in the courtyard where the gardens are blooming with a saccharine heaviness in the air. there she is, among the flowers, head dipped in consideration as she flicks her fingers through stalk after stalk of flower. roses and asters and stonecrops, each of them woven expertly into a bouquet but ever more laid out before her and...

wait, she might know what she's doing, because there's a scissor simply placed near her. her emerald green gaze lifts, and aerith cants her head as she spots you. there's only a shadow of a smile on her lips, something lit up by the maroon moonlight. her lipstick matches the slivers dancing along through the hedges and branches, cutting her form into stripes of white and blood red. ]

You've got nice hands. Here. [ she shimmies a little to the side, making room next to her. ] That lady over there— [ she points, rudely perhaps, to a woman in a peacock outfit who looks quite... well, like she's having an awful time, really. ] she offered to pay me for a bouquet. I'll give you a cut if you help me out with this. She wants something... big. [ aerith puckers her lips in consideration before holding up the bouquet, and tilting her head in thought. ] Too small?

[ it fits in her hands, which is... well. she's practically made of bird bones, this one. ]

b.
[ fontana del vino is her next stop in the gardens, and she's mostly goaded into this— still, a bit of fun never hurt, right? something's got her feeling a little loose already, and it's hard to say what. something she drank, maybe? but aerith's only drunk water here.

she's not much of a climber, so she need help getting up onto the statue. the party-goer who helps her is sopping wet with wine, smells thickly of alcohol, and yet... well, it's the freest thing here, in truth. she's not much for the stuffiness of the whole thing, even if it's fulfilling a curiosity in her. ]

Okay, I'm up! [ she catches her balance, finally standing straight after a long struggle. your opponent is a thin woman in a velvet dress.

she is never going to pay off this gown. ]

IV. grave, grave, grave; ( ► wildcard/ooc. )

a.
[ none of these tickle your fancy, but still wanna tag aerith? i'd love to do ghost ship stuff! aerith would totally be down to drop pumpkin bombs, and wax poetic about death in front of the giant tombstone. as for quests: i'd adore the chance to do corpse-a-corps (aerith would sympathize with the guy, actually!), and conch shell stories would tell tales of the cetra for her, so if you want to learn about aerith's heritage, i'd love to do that too!

you can contact me through pm, or on plurk @ [plurk.com profile] hagclub. i'm happy to write you a personalized starter. you are also super duper welcome to hit me with your own prompt. i love it, i promise! thanks for your time <3 ]

I. New Arrival
[Rin's survived on sheer luck before, but it seems like luck isn't on her side this time around.

There's a loud crash when she lands in the water, followed up a guttural war cry that leaves her lips when she hits the water and essentially starts to sink. Her arms flailing around in the water, before realizing quickly that she knew how to swim. Hurriedly getting her bearings together, and swimming up to the surface to catch her breath.

She's survived again, and rescued, which she is grateful for. However, when her clothes are replaced with rags, she doesn't look too happy. None the less, there's that beaming smile on her usual expression.]

Helloooo~ Thank you for rescuing me from the water!

[Upon first glance, some may notice that she is very tall, standing at 6'4 in height.]

II. Festival
[Usually she's a sucker for wearing a nice costume during the ocassion, but she passes this time. Far too distracted by the festivities that surround her, since she rarely got to participate. Although, she isn't much for the games, and instead, you'll find her near the food stall. Particularly the fruit and pumpkin skewers, since she liked spicy food.

It's not spicy enough for her though, but the effects of the food are starting to take effect.]

Hey old man, this isn't spicy enough! Can I get more chili powder?

[Why... Is she talking much faster than normal.]

III. Masquerade
[A masquerade was the last thing she wanted to attend. There was some lasting trauma from the last masquerade that she went to, with her husband being caught in the cross fire and nearly dying. It wasn't a fun experience, and she's a bit hesitent to go, until she notices the outfits and masks that are provided to attend the masquerade.

She'll keep her comments to herself, knowing full well she could make something better than this, but... She'll just wear the outfit and mask for fun, she supposes. She'll just have to push past that trauma for now.

She's not participating in any of the adult features. Funny enough, you can find her toward the more family friendly entertainment. Happily watching the musicians play their music, while she takes small sips of wine from her cup.]

[personal profile] foolprove 2023-10-13 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
1. STARTER 1 - ARRIVAL

[ of course he'd end up in the water.

one ship in a bottle later, ren finds himself breathing in salty seawater as he tries to float to the surface of the ocean. what... the hell.

it's not long before he eventually breaks upwards to air, spitting out seawater and flailing a little as he tries to get his bearings, salt water burning his eyes and throat as he coughs it out. ]

2. STARTER 2 - SNOBBERY

[ after getting the rundown and being... acclimated (more or less), ren finds himself with the option of a hot beverage. oh, perfect. he's so grateful for the opportunity and answers "coffee" right away, and is amazed when he is actually given a cup. maybe brought by someone else to this strange place? either way, he's not going to complain--

that is, until he actually takes a sip.

even his usually incredible poker face breaks at the taste. oh, that's just... awful. so awful. he can't help but let his features squish up at it. someone either didn't grind the beans correctly, or didn't use the right temperature, or let it sit out too long-- or all of the above. eurgh. what does he expect on a ship, sure, but like-- he misses leblanc's coffee, or even his own made at home in a simple chemex. ]

3. GHOST PINATAS

[ hitting something with a bat as a form of release sounds absolutely amazing right now after all this chaos and strangeness, so of course ren's signed up for it. he has some experience at a batting cage, but... that was with his eyes open, so this is a little different.

currently, his eyes are blindfolded shut as he twirls a plastic mallet in his hands showily and tries to listen for the "ghosts" and the people directing him. ]

Let's do it. [ he says confidently, giving another showy twirl. ]

4. FRUIT AND PUMPKIN SKEWERS

[ honestly? they taste delicious, especially the ones with chili powder. however... ren has yet to notice the other effects on him, which is to say, that intense energy they've filled him with.

he's chowing down on a second skewer now, eager and suddenly very very excited for the entire festival situation around him. he glances at a passerby eagerly. ]

Hey. Have you tried this?

5. BLIND DANCING AND/OR GEMS

[ the idea of a masquerade is an intriguing one. ren's certainly come to feel more like himself in a mask, after all, so he can't help but take part in such an event so close to suddenly being transported to a strange world.

as much as he'd love to use a mask that looks just like what he's used to, he's refrained for the sake of anyone else from his world who might be here; instead, he's gone with a black and red one with antennae and feather that resemble his persona arsene, and is dressed like him as well, frills and all.

it makes him feel a little more comfortable in a strange place... that is, until he's suddenly blinded and given a strange pink gem upon his outfit, wherein he ends up nearby someone else that he's allegedly supposed to dance with.

well. fake it 'til you make it, after all. ]

May I have this dance? [ he asks, giving a small bow in what he sure hopes is the direction of the other person. ]

6. PUMPKIN BOMBS

[ as bizarre as this entire thing is, ren's at least glad he managed to make it to that weird tattoo shop beforehand.

because currently he's being attacked by a pumpkin.

it's certainly not the first time, nor will it be the last he's sure-- but it is the first time in this place, and they seem much less jovial than the ones he's used to. he shoots a bit of dark magic at one and watches as it starts to get bigger instead of appearing to take any damage.

he casts his gaze about wildly, landing upon the nearest person. ]

Help me with this?
forgeabettertomorrow: (nope nope nope nope nope)

Darin Altway | Original Character | Corsair | TDM

[personal profile] forgeabettertomorrow 2023-10-13 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
-ARRIVAL-
[Growing up in a port town, Darin is no stranger to ships. Honestly, he'd done his fair share of work on them growing up when he was allowed. Everything about the sea captivated him. It represented this big, unknowable world full of freedom and knowledge. After he had to go on the run, he'd find himself missing the sea breeze.]

[But he didn't miss it enough to be dropped into it from an undisclosed-but-still-kinda-dangerous height.]

[Hopefully you're on the deck of the Stormbringer admiring the vast ocean before you because this 6'3" hunk of idiot is falling from the sky and hitting the water with a colossal splash. You'd be forgiven if you thought he was a cannonball.]

-FESTIVAL-
[Darin wasn't especially thrilled with the idea of this new life, but it was a far cry better than his old one. At least as a corsair, he'd have freedom to do what he wanted and live how he wanted to live. Plus, if it meant harmlessly harassing the Paladins...well, sign him up.]

[For now, though, he's just trying to get used to this new world. He felt like he didn't stand out so much here with his bright blue hair considering there seemed to be far stranger people among the locals. And with a festival kicking off, this seemed like the perfect time to get acquainted with people. Maybe make some connections. After all, a master blacksmith had to be useful here, right?]

[Naturally, he's at the barrel-boat building competition and he's leveraging his expertise and experience to build the best damn boat he can. He hasn't assembled anything yet but he's sitting down with some pretty elaborate looking blueprints.]

Okay, so this thing isn't exactly hydrodynamic. There's gotta be a way to make it cut through the water better...

[He forgot he's supposed to be decorating it.]

-MASQUERADE-
[Darin wasn't exactly super keen on dressing up. When you're built as muscular as he is, suits tend to be confining. The man never wears sleeves and now he's expected to be in formal attire?]

[But it'd be a shame to miss out on an event, especially when the clothes are provided for you. So, clad in a black suit, black vest with silver embroidery, and a demon mask (someone's idea of a joke, obviously) he makes his way to the ballroom.]

[It looks like he's attracted the fancy of a siren because he's been stuck with a purple gem and blinded, leaving him stuck with a dance partner he can't see.]

Whoa, okay. Uh...I'm not the only one who can't see, right? That's not just a 'me' thing? Should I be panicking?

-GHOST SHIP-
No. Nope. No! Absolutely not! You can get on that ship and go to hell! I'm not going!

[Darin might not have realized what he'd been signing up for. Once he realized he was on a ship bound for the Ghost ship to investigate, he very quickly headed for the deck. In fact, it looks like he's about to jump overboard.]

I'm not going on that thing! I'd rather swim back to my own world before I set foot on that ship! Why the hell are we investigating it anyway?! Just leave it alone! It'll go away! It's gonna go away, right?!

[Darin might have a bit of a problem with ghosts.]

Fenris || Dragon Age || Corsair || TDM

[personal profile] unshod 2023-10-13 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Prose or bracket welcome. General CW: Fenris was a slave once, so he comes with a general CW for mentions of Slavery and all the physical, emotional, and mental trauma that comes with that.]

There was something strange going on. He want to bed that night, in his cabin, dreamed he was back home, it felt like days had passed in his dream as they oft do. It was simple, uncomplicated journeying, no nightmares of his life as a slave, no pain, just... travel. And then he was waking up in rags on the deck of Stormbringer once more like the first time.

It gave him such a strong sense of deja vu that he wasn't sure if he was still dreaming or not. But quickly realized he was being treated as new once more, having to place his name in the type machine once again, having to find his belongings, even get his shellphone once more.

Many of the same familiar faces he's seen before, though none he talked to before. He even stopped in front of the Inkwave once more as if he might find someone there... but while he had to go through everything once more, nothing was repeating itself either.

Was his time here before real? It had felt real.

I. Naughtlust: Blind Dancing
Fenris is dressed well in gold (x) and black, the silk cape of his outfit made to look like dragon skin to match the dragon mask he wears. It took a while to find a pair of boots that suited him without heels or toes. He could have covered his feet entirely, but he would have been uncomfortable. But, he is not without his greatsword strapped to his back under the cape.

Still, when his sight is suddenly taken from him, he's less than pleased -- he's seen the game the sirens were playing with other people and hoped to dodge it himself, but it seems not.

So when he's paired with someone, he does his best to remain calm, though he very blatantly flinches with his half gloved hands come in contact with the other's hand.

"Apologies, it seems you have run into some misfortune as I do not know how to dance," being blind for his first dance sounds as unfortunate as it is.

II. Naughtlust: Garden
After eating some of the refreshments and drinking some champagne, Fenris steps out into the garden. He feels a little strange - he giggled when someone complimented him. Fenris is hoping that a little bit of fresh air will help clear his head and make him feel more coherent.

But as soon as he's out here, he is mesmerized by the beautiful lights of the fireflies, the stunning array of florals. In his life he's been in stunning gardens in Minrathous, but never anything quite like this. It was truely spetacular and he finds himself with a small smile on his face as he walks up to some flowers and hesitates to touch them. His touch is meant more to harm, it feels odd to touch something so delicate with such blood stained hands, even under the blood moon.

He hears someone near by before even seeing them, his long elf ears twitching at the sound. Looking over to them, he nods in greeting, "Beautiful, is it not?"

III. Ghost Ship (a. On Deck or b. Below Deck)
It seems his hyper vigilance to bring his weapon regardless was not in vain as the undead rise and start an assault. Being able bodied, Fenris gets on one of the ships going out to the Ghost ship, knowing he's fully capable of fighting and fighting well.

He can be found one of two places this night.

On the Deck fighting skeletons with his great sword, knocking out their shins and lobbing off their head. There is something stilted about his fighting, as if he's missing something he's used to having when he fights. And that would be the truth of it, he is missing something and it's making it hard to not make a move that he then has to overcompensate for.

He grunts as he takes an axe blade to the arm, though he's able to parry it enough to keep it from taking the arm with the swing and leaving him only with a gash.

Eventually, he makes it Below Deck where he has sprung a trap and is fighting off living chains, one that is already wrapped around his leg and trying to drag him down as he swings at the other chain, sword coming in contact severing a number of links from it. The other chain constricts around his leg, but Fenris does little more than grunt and grit his teeth against the assault.

nohero: (anime 21)

Reiner Braun | Attack on Titan | Paladins | TDM

[personal profile] nohero 2023-10-13 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Starter Ship
One minute, Reiner is in a flying boat on a (probably doomed) mission to save the world. The next, he's standing on pale sand beneath an impossibly starry sky, staring up at the branching light connecting all members of his bloodline, Eren Jaeger's voice reverberating in his bones. The next, Reiner is up in the air, hanging above an old-fashioned ship with his limbs tangled in the netting.

"Disorientated" doesn't even begin to cut it.

With no idea what's happening (or if this is even real), Reiner doesn't struggle against his bonds. He just hangs there: a six-foot-two blond-haired man in a ragged uniform, seemingly content to remain tangled in the netting.

However, upon approach, it's evident from his expression that Reiner isn't content. He's just too exhausted and bewildered to deal with this particular brand of bullshit.

Eltrut
The Shellphone is a technological marvel that Reiner can't bring himself to investigate with genuine enthusiasm. (That ID—"nohero"—took the wind out of his metaphorical sails.) He pockets it and immediately heads toward Inkwave, itching to correct the unsettling disconnect from the power thrumming beneath his skin.

Once there, Reiner removes his loose-fitting, dark gray shirt, exposing a muscular build and notably unblemished skin. (Bizarrely unblemished. Unnaturally so.) He tries and fails not to outright stare at the burly octopus, doing his best to take it all in stride. What's one more strange thing to make him question his sanity?

Reiner indicates his chest for the tattoo. When asked what element he wants, his answer is immediate.

"Lightning," he says, his deep voice certain. It seems only appropriate.

Festival
Despite only being in his early twenties, Reiner treats the games like an indulgent parent: encouraging others to join and helping children who need it, but not participating himself. Blame it on the perpetual exhaustion that clings to him, evident the moment he relaxes his straight-backed military posture. Whether he just looks tired or like he's Seen Some Shit is up to the beholder—but either way, it's correct.

Reiner is far more enthusiastic about the food, eager to try a little of everything. Thankfully, the fruit and pumpkin skewers give him some much-needed energy. Soon enough, he joins in the Paladins' investigation.

"Excuse me," he says as he approaches, gold eyes fixed on the person's face. "Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?"

The request is polite, yet there is a charisma to Reiner that even his exhaustion can't entirely suppress. Nine years of leadership will do that to a person.

Ghost Ship
All things considered, fighting the undead isn't the strangest thing Reiner has ever done.

He knows how to use cannons, having trained extensively on them during his time in Paradis. The ammo is certainly different—holy pumpkins? really?—but the mechanics are the same. He gives brisk orders to anyone who appears to be struggling, quickly and efficiently teaching them how to prepare and load the cannon. Then Reiner takes aim, and…

"Firing."

BOOM! Off sails a pumpkin.

Quests
The quests immediately catch Reiner's interest, a lifetime of military service making it easy to conceptualize them as "missions." He's happy to team up with others, acting as a solid, reliable partner no matter the objective.

When they tackle the Corpse-A-Corps mission, Reiner's empathetic nature shows; his brows pinch together, and he murmurs, "I wonder who this man lost."

On Hungry-La Island, Reiner literally starts to salivate, staring at the meat trees like they're a gift from the divine. "Are these real?" he asks, just before striding right up to one, intending to take a bite.

The Guileful Grimalkin quest proves more difficult. Reiner is highly athletic and more than capable of chasing down a … weird not-a-cat thing. However, he is also six-foot-two and sturdily built; he has no idea how to catch these things without hurting them.

The Conch Shell Stories bring out a distinctly melancholy mood in Reiner. He walks barefoot through the surf, his trousers rolled up to his knees, stooping down to pick up likely shells. When he presses one to his ear, his broad shoulders curl inward, a familiar voice making him ache for home.

Starter Ship: Royal Fortune: In the Water
Okay. So the fact that this is at least the third time she has traveled between worlds and landed in the ocean upon arrival must mean that she is a very ill-fated feline. And this is not fun at all. Fortunately she can swim but that's still not going to get the stink of salt water out of her fur later.

"You up there," She calls out to the boat that is conveniently nearby - how fortunate for her that she managed to remain conscious for the fishing out - "Throw this one a rope or something! You are not the sort to let a stranger drown are you?" A pause and then a follow-up, "Even if you are, this one would still appreciate the help!"

Tattoos
It was fortunate that she was given enough money to procure a tattoo to return her powers to her... but did make her curious how much of her self had truly been stripped away. Had she actually drowned would she have found herself back in Tamriel, or still in this strange plane of possibly-not-oblivion. Well, if she was really curious she could test it out later, for now, she exits the shop and tests the powers she was supposed to get back instead:

She twists her claws in front of her and a green light flares as scattered pieces of discarded bones from various creatures that lay hidden in the alleyways and buried under refuse and dirt shimmered into view, surrounding her and beginning to circle.

A couple people physically close to her also find themselves surrounded with the macabre display, wholly against their will. Though, upon any sort of inspection, the effect doesn't seem to be doing anything other than circling their bodies...

Wildcard
Pick something. If you pick the ghost ship, be prepared for her to add skeletons to the battle - she's a necromancer!

ARRIVAL: CHOCOBO ON BOARD
[ Fortunately for both Yuffie and her chocobo, they arrive on "solid ground" of the Royal Fortune. However, her chocobo is down on the deck and the young ninja is up in the crow's nest. Which she almost falls out of by wildly spinning around in order to look around. ]

Woah! Not again! [ Thankfully, she manages to grab hold of the railing, but then Yuffie sees exactly where she is and feels that it isn't just her that's moving. Great, more motionsickness. Some of the crew and maybe even the new "visitors" are getting interested in her chocobo down there.

Don't mind her as she clings to the rail with one arm, keep her mouth covered with her other, and sometimes flail an arm at the people below. ]

Hey, you! [ A pause. ] Ugh. Stay away from my chocobo! I paid good money for him!

ELTRUT: FESTIVAL
a. Ghost Piñatas

[ Yuffie is one of the people supposed to be helping, but here she is sometimes "accidentally" leading the person in the wrong direction. No, she's not a Corsair, it's just a little fun for her. ]

Go left! No, your other left.

[ There's clearly a grin in her voice. ]

Now spin around!

[ She laughs if the person follows her orders, or boos if they don't. ]

b. Pranked

[ Now this is Yuffie's style. She will behave to the point where all of her pranks are targeted towards Corsairs that she noticed doing pranking of their own. Hers are also harmless.

Maybe someone gets some confetti dumped on them from above, or walks straight into a little trip line.

Granted, she can't prevent "innocents" from walking straight into one on occasion. ]

c. Food

[ There's all kinds of food here, and Yuffie is trying them all. Sometimes she might be bright red, or even more hyper than normal, or randomly doing a little dance (which she protests), or breathing fire (that one she loves, or even maybe curled up in a corner holding her stomach.

Pick your choice or the die of fate will decide. ]

NAUGHTILUST: MASQUERADE
a. General

[ Yuffie only thinks she knows what goes on in adult areas, but that's where the taverns are, so she avoids it anyway. She's only here for the dancers and musicians. Come hang out and keep her out of trouble, or make sure to steer her away from those adult areas.

Or get her to go to one of the shops for picking out an outfit for the masquerade. Those are safe places for a girl of sixteen to be going, no matter how "adult" she says she is. ]

b. Gems

[ Yuffie is all dressed up and wearing a mask for the Masquerade. She hasn't bothered to do anything with her hair, but a nice purple gem is handed over to her, and she shrugs before pinning it to her dress.

Everyone who comes within range is getting talked to. ]

Da-chao bean?

[ The teen holds up a little bag to offer up the treat. Spoilers: it's extremely hard on the teeth. ]

c. Flower Arranging

[ A nose wrinkles, she sneezes and nearly drops hold of the bouquet being put together. ]

Are these really the best "activities" at a party like this one?

[ It's okay, Yuffie's going to be getting sleepy in a little bit. Don't let her get eaten by zombies or anything. ]

GHOST SHIP
a. Axing Skeletons

Now this is my kind of party!

[ Yes, even in her fancy dress, Yuffie has on a pair of shorts under it, and flat shoes that will allow her the mobility she needs. A very large shuriken with a few glowing orbs in her right hand.

The weapon gets thrown, she casts some elemental magic on the skeletons wielding axes.

Join this tiny Wutain ninja in defeating the undead. ]

b. Pumpkin Bombs

[ So these things are far too familiar and Yuffie dislikes it. It's growing and soon it'll pop.

She turns to the closest person with a weapon and... ]

Hey, you. Throw me at that thing, will ya?

[ Did she really just...? She sure did. ]

c. Traps

[ Wutai has its own trick walls within it, so Yuffie sees the trap before it goes off. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean she doesn't fall into it anyway. Possibly after getting pulled in by someone else or tripping over her own feet, as she tends to do.

She lands flat on her rump with a groan. ]

Ow! What kind of ship has trap walls?

[ Yuffie gets up slowly, not because of an injury, but because now that she isn't fighting - her motion sickness is coming back in full force. ]

There has to be a latch or switch to get us out of here somewhere.

[ She vaguely motions to the walls of the room. Which... are they getting closer or is that just her vision getting blurry? ]

Wildcard
[ Want to get into one of the other non-adult prompts from above sections? Or hit her up on the quests. Anything to make some money! ]

Starter Ship: Stormbringer: Random Room

Despite the fact that he did not land in the water upon arrival, the man who lands in the bed - on top of some poor soul - was still wet and bedraggled having found the bottle just after returning from an impromptu dive into the Four Waters of the World. So while his clothing (rags) are dry, the four feet of unbound hair smacking his sudden bed mate in the face was not.

And despite it being very obvious that he had landed on another body in a strange room, he did not immediately get up or attempt to move because he was still trying to come to terms with what just happened.

Quest for Clothes
His clothes - his actual clothing and not the coarse cloth that could barely be considered two layers and did nothing to cover his legs below the knees - were apparently on the back of a giant turtle that he was tempted to believe was a lesser cousin of the great xuanwu. His powers being blocked spoke leagues about the power of whatever being brought him here and while he was certainly frustrated - extremely frustrated - at their loss and that they had been taken so cleanly... he was not so foolish as to try and challenge the xiao xuanwu or anyone else to get them back. Instead... he was going to have to follow the map into an unfamiliar city.

He was not so prideful to not ask for help, however. So after he was out of the docks and the press of any crowds, he turned to the first person to start walking past him... and grabbed their arm to force them to face him. He didn't bother with introductions, just held the map up for them to see, "Show this venerable one where this venerable one is on this map."

If he sounds a bit full of himself... he is.

Wildcard!
Please have fun with this over powered big bad that just had his power cut!

[personal profile] psionicmolotov 2023-10-13 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[ OOC: Kimmuriel can read people's surface thoughts to the point it's second nature to him, but only when he has his powers back! Essentially if your character has narration in their bracket text or w/e, he can read (and will usually respond) to those thoughts. If you don't wanna deal with that just let me know when you tag me. ]

1. Stormbringer (Depowered)
[ Plenty of things have happened to Kimmuriel in his nearly half a century of life; some of them good, some of them bad, some of them absolutely terrible. This situation he's found himself in is, objectively, not even close to the worst thing that's ever befallen him.

But he's trapped in a barrel and he's having a lot of trouble getting out of it and this is the worst. What would be a simple task for anyone with enough strength to crack the lid and clamber out has turned into an ordeal of trying to get the lid open by leverage and sheer effort alone.

So, depending on how much progress he's made in this, you might find a rocking barrel, a barrel rolling around while something thumps aggressively inside it, or a bedraggled drow with a deeply aggravated expression usually found on cats crawling out of a horizontal barrel.
]

2. Shopping on Eltrut (Depowered)
[ He has a map, he sort of has his bearings, and now he has to go on the world's most miserable treasure hunt, apparently, if he wants his clothing back. But he has enough money to get something that doesn't feel like it will fall apart whenever he moves, so right now he's postponed all that to get some clothing that actually serves its intended purpose.

It's all in bright colours and breezy fabrics, none of which coordinates well with a sour-looking 4'11 drow who gives off the air of someone whose personal space bubble is Don't. Occasionally he mutters to himself.
]

This is much more to Jarlaxle's tastes than mine...

3. Ghost Ship (Powered)

[ FINALLY, SOME FUCKING VIOLENCE. Kimmuriel can be found blowing undead apart or into the water as he pleases with a combination of telekinesis and his kinetic barrier, clearly enjoying himself far too much. He's been good, he's been patient, he's taken the fact that he can't actually go back to his own plane any time soon with...a modicum of grace, but nobody can blame him for enjoying himself, right? They're acceptable targets, after all.

(They absolutely could, but you know.)
]

Kell Maresh | Shades of Magic | Paladins | TDM

[personal profile] priste 2023-10-13 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
arrival
[ Kell Maresh was not having a good day. He'd been sitting in a jail cell (placed there by his own father after having come back of his own accord, he should've just stayed gone; he should have--) when he'd picked up a curious ship in a bottle that by all logic should not have been there only to be sucked in and dropped out in what appeared to be in the middle of the ocean.

But that was really only the very tip of the iceberg of his problems.

It takes him a moment to realize that strange, off feeling--that feeling like he's drowning--isn't the water at all (he is at least a decent swimmer, although little good that'll do him if a boat doesn't find him), it's the fact that he doesn't feel his magic at all. It is as if an entire sense has been cut off from him and panic fills his lungs quicker than any water could, and soon enough he's splashing and making a fool of himself as he calls for aid. ]

Help!
festival
[ Needless to say, Kell quickly sorted out the business of getting a tattoo and getting his things back. The Antari cuts a much more impressive figure when he's not sopping wet and pathetically drowning. After he arrives at the festival and sees so many people in costume he takes off his coat then then turns it. It has not one or two sides like a normal coat, but many, and eventually it seems to settle on a costume that he's not entirely sold on, but the coat doesn't seem to want to give him anything else to work with so he's stuck with it now.

Although Kell seems to have a constant scowl and he looks rather out of place in the festival, he does end up partaking in the festivities. If it look like the ghost piñatas stay a little too still for him, maybe they do. After all, he's got magic of his own. But it's all in good fun! And later on, maybe he'll reward himself with a moon cake and find himself shining like Red London itself. ]
masquerade
[ Kell doesn't love dances. They remind him of home, and of duty, and of brother and two out of three of those things leave him in a decidedly sour mood. But he's shown up dressed nicely either way, with a black button up shirt, a black half cape, knee length pants and tights, a winged mask, and several matching gold adornments on his collar, cuffs, and various pieces of jewelry.

But beyond the air of generally trying to Not Have A Good Time, Kell's posture gives him away. He knows how to behave here. He also knows how to dance, if the mood strikes him. And if he gives up on sulking.

When not in the ballroom itself, Kell can be found in the gardens. He's been told he smells like flowers (the magic of Red London, often the scent of whatever the favorite is of the person trying to describe it), but really, it's just that he feels more at ease here than in there. Even if the weight of expectation of home didn't follow him here, it seems old habits die hard, and Kell needs a moment to just gather his thoughts. ]
ghost ship
[ When the Ghost Ship arrives, Kell jumps into the fray without hesitation. Magic comes to him easily, and while he can't channel Light, he's finding that beating up the skeletons with earth or knocking streams of water into them is working just fine. ]

Watch out, behind you!

[ He turns, bringing down a waterfall of sea water on the offending zombie, but given that it is a zombie, that probably won't keep it down for long! ]
wildcard.
[ feel free to hit up Kell wherever! These prompts are a little more general so you can also craft whatever you'd like within the context of them! ]

Holland Vosijk | Shades of Magic | Corsairs | TDM

[personal profile] voxt 2023-10-14 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
I. Arrival: Below Deck
[ Should you find yourself heading to the cargo hold on the Stormbringer, you'll find a man snoozing perhaps in a place he shouldn't be. Pale and a little gaunt, his tattered clothes do little to hide the array of scars along his arms, legs, and chest He's so still, he may in fact be unconscious.

Holland awakens suddenly, light and sound and sensation assaulting him all at once. He sits up with a quiet breath, taking in his surroundings. With his eyes open, it's clear there's something off about him. More than just how pale he is, his left eye is black, from eyelid to iris; entirely black. He blinks and rubs his eyes. He does not remember falling asleep. In fact, the last thing he remembers, quite clearly, is succumbing to exhaustion and the pain from his wounds. Now he is alive, but perhaps that isn't quite right. Every breath feels wrong, every movement stiff and cold, though not from exhaustion or strain.

He brings a hand to his chest, finding no blood or even a scab to corroborate with his most recent memories. Only a slightly sunken scar lies where Athos Dane's rune had been carved, the once deep, intricate rune replaced with a blotch of scarred tissue nearly the size of a fist.
]

This can't be.

[ Holland extends a hand and... nothing happens. He takes a deep breath, followed by another. In and out. He tries to stand, disoriented and dizzy and worried that his lack of magic has taken his balance as well, but no. As all this were not enough, the ground beneath him creaks, rocking and unsteady. His feet tremble as the sounds around him begin to make more sense. Creaking wood, crashing waves, and the stomping of feet overhead. ]

Of all the...

[ Holland nearly stumbles, leaning on one of the large boxes around him. His already pale complexion looks even worse as he tries to stand up and remain steady. He's never been on a ship before, but he's far from the type of person to find joy or novelty in a new experience. Frankly, he's miserable. But where he'd usually keep it all under a placid, controlled expression, he groans again as the ship makes a particularly sudden lurch. ]

Where am I?

II. Arrival: Inkwave Tattoo Parlor
[ Alright, it's time to practice being a person again. The first thing Holland does after receiving his shellphone and getting the spiel is patiently plan his direct trip to the Inkave Tattoo Parlor for a seal that will return his magic to him. In fact, he's just wrapping up when you happen to walk in. ]

Thank you, once again.

[ He addresses the large octopus, his voice steady and level, but the gratitude evident in his green eye. He's buttoning up his shirt as he does so, and while he looks calm and collected, there's almost a coiled energy that radiates from him as he tries to act natural. Like he both wants to jump for joy or break something in equal measure. ]

Looks like your next appointment is here. I won't keep you.

III. Nautilust: Masquerade Wallflower
[ Holland is dressed to death in this but pure white and a silver mask that does very little to hide the fact that one his eyes is blueish green, while the other is pure black. It hardly matters. Holland has very little reason to hide his identity here, and while he looks somewhat awkward in his observations of the dance floor, there's clear interest in his eyes.

It's unfamiliar territory. But perhaps he can be lured out of being a wallflower for the right dance partner. Or anyone brave enough to approach him, despite the... everything about him seeming like he doesn't want to be approached. Despite that, he'll pull something like a smile if actually spoken to.
]

Please, don't mind me. I'm just observing.

[ Dare you try to get him on the dance floor? Or perhaps anywhere else in this party? ]

IV. Ghost Ship: Skeleton War (cw: self harm for blood magic)
[ Now this is what Holland is good at. His mouth quirks only slightly up, an edge to his gaze as he stares down a group of four skeletons that crawl onto the pier. Wordlessly, he draws a hand forward, open-palmed, and each of the animated bones before him freeze, struggling against his magic. ]

How unlucky for you.

[ There's something cold about the way he holds them. Something in the way the darkness in his eye catches a glint of moonlight, his posture solid and stonelike. He approaches the frozen skeletons, closing his fist to draw them together, their bones rattling uselessly as they fight his pull.

With a dagger in his free hand, Holland the knife's edge over the back of his fist, just enough to draw blood. The move is practiced, unflinching and easy for him.

He knocks that fresh wound against the mass of writhing bones, like knocking on a particularly stubborn door.
]

As Steno.

[ As if commanded, the bones shatter to pieces, bits of bone exploding around him, yet every piece avoids him entirely, as if repelled. As if being controlled. He dusts himself off all the same, maybe noticing your character now that the fight is done! He and runs a hand through his dark hair, the wound on his hand already healed shut. ]

A pity these monsters aren't all made of bones. [ He attempts a smile, not that it meets his eyes. ] Don't dawdle, there are more where those came from.

[ hello yes this is jans trying out a new guy! if you want to opt out please let me know! if you want to plot hit me up [plurk.com profile] cantito! ]

🌩️ Ghoul's Moon Festival

[ Thankfully costumes aren't required here. Cloud isn't about to wear one - unless, of course, someone manages to guilt him into it - but he's more than willing to meander about and explore the various games and food. ]

a. Games

[ Cloud can be found, initially, staring at the various different kinds of games. At first, it doesn't look like he is going to get involved. He's far too sullen for that, isn't he? That's how it will appear but apparently not even he can resist everything before too long.

He will be participating darts or even the water gun targets. It's not quite like the Golden Saucer, but it's not like he doesn't know how to relax at least a little. At some point, Cloud will be helping some of the kids around Shellton with their barrel boats and making them "extra spooky." ]

b. Food

[ No one can really attend one of these festivals without engaging in the time honored tradition of buying at eating food. Cloud will be casually strolling, stopping and eating treats like the Moon Cakes or the Fruit and Pumpkin Skewers. Teasing him about it will result in a glare and some kind of sarcastic response in return.

Later on, Cloud will be investigating the sour candy. He'll be stopping and asking people where they had gotten the candy that has made them sick. Then following up with the leads. ]

🌩️ Masquerade

[ Cloud will attend the masquerade held at the Helice Palace, only grimacing slightly at the fact that he is going to have to dress up. Eventually, he emerges in an appropriate outfit for the night. Now the mask he wears is a little much for him, but the staff insist and he's not going to put up too much of a fuss for something like this.

Finding Cloud in the gardens is also a viable option. ]

a. Refreshments

[ Poor thing is an awkward creature at best. Cloud will try his best to be a wallflower and linger around the table loaded with food if he can. Oh he is so very stiff about it. If asked to dance he will huff and - ]

I don't... Dance.

b. Blind Dancing

[ But it doesn't matter, does it? He will be pulled to the floor anyway. If not by the person asking, but because he is getting hit with blindness and being paired up with someone else. And when he does - ]

They really don't know when to let it go.

🌩️ Ghost Ship

a. Axing Skeletons

I'll clear a path.

[ And who wouldn't believe Cloud? The skeletons have massive axes, but Cloud's sword is pretty sizable. He's quick on his feet, slashing through a group of them pretty effectively. At one point, he's not holding one sword, but two. Or maybe one of his blades is coming to the defense of another, blocking an incoming attack before blasting with Thundara. ]

b. Traps

[ Now here is where Cloud will definitely be the one requiring assistance. He's found his way into one of those rooms. The ones with shrinking walls. And they are getting closer and closer. Cloud' breathing goes a little shaky and he feels a touch dizzy. Normally he would just try to break through no problem but -

Well his vision is swimming and even Cloud has moments of panic. ]

🌩️ Wildcard

[ That's a lot of prompts and choices but I'm always free to write more if interested! Or, you know, throw something my way and I'll respond in kind. Feel free to hit me up on Discord @ verthunder if you want to plot something out. ]

Maria Renard | Castlevania: Nocturne | Paladin | TDM

[personal profile] summonbeasts 2023-10-14 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
[I] TATTOOS;
[Waking up where one doesn't belong moments after waking up at yet another spot where one shouldn't be is enough to have Maria in more than a ripe mood. Never mind the ill-fitting Paladin uniform -- not that she even knows what it is beyond other clothing. That perfectly caps off the day she thinks.

So when eventually she ends up passing by the tattoo parlor in Eltrut and someone mentions the magical tattoos her brows do raise in interest but likewise she dismisses the idea entirely because, well --]

I already have magic. See?

[She gestures her hand with her index and middle finger pointing upward, expecting a spark of light and finding ... well, certainly not that. Her expression drops and she lets go of a long sigh after.]

Oh, I see. So we're to have no magic either without those bloody tattoos, is that right?

MASQUERADE;
[The notion of going into a big ballroom all dressed up tickles something decidedly bitter in Maria's stomach. She wouldn't even dream of attending it the advertising didn't boldly encourage how free the event was. Everyone is invited and that does a great deal to calm the bitterness lurking inside of her.

It helps that she's curious as well. If she's to be caught in this world until whenever it deems to release her then she ought to get a lay of the land. That's what her practical mind tells her even as the curious teenager within her wants to see out of ... well, curiosity.

After a good deal of far too flouncy ballgowns she goes with a more military style, pressed into a simplistic pink and black mask to complete the look. Her hair stays tied up though, thank you. Fighting with hair down is a recipe for a mess!

She can be found out in the gardens mostly, enjoying the flower arrangements or very likely thoroughly enchanted by the fireflies. Either way one might catch Maria looking somewhat flustered if she's caught actually enjoying herself and acting like a teenager for once.]

GHOST SHIP;
[Ah, here was what Maria was expecting! When the clock strikes midnight on the 31st and the moon begins to glow the young woman's expression tightens as she leaves out to meet whatever is conjuring up. The screams meet her halfway out the door and she pauses for a moment to draw a circle in the air then curse beneath her breath when the glowing portal does pop up but nothing pops out of it.]

This place is infuriating.

[Once outside she calls to anyone nearby with a request.]

What do you have for weaponry? Something sharp I hope!

[Aboard the ship itself Maria might not have her creatures to summon up but still still quick with a weapon. A blade is preferable and if she can't find one she'll make do with silverware if she has to.

She will head towards the bowels of the ship for the black tombstone once others begin speaking of something being down there. She readily crouches down to read the blood-smeared text but sighs after a moment.]

I really ought to have asked my mother to teach me Enochian or some of the other languages.

WILDCARD;
[ [Feel free to hit me up any other prompts you might like to try. PMs open to plotting!] ]

G'raha Tia | FFXIV | Corsair

[personal profile] afflatusexarch 2023-10-14 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
🐈 Festival Time!

[ G'raha is a cat man on a mission. He wants to see all of the things. Smell all of the smells. In fact, G'raha seems to want to enjoy it all and why shouldn't he? He's even taken it upon himself to even prepare and wear a costume of sorts. Though he hardly looks scary with how his ears wiggle and tail swishes about quite happily. ]

a. Treats and Sweets

[ At this point is anyone really surprised? G'raha has loaded himself down with as much food as possible. Moon Cakes. Skewers. Skull Buns. Taiyaki. All of it. He probably looks ridiculous with the amount of things that he has in his arms or that he has hollow legs. G'raha doesn't seem to stop being enamoured with the stalls. ]

I've never seen such confections. Who would have thought fruit and pumpkin would go so well together?

[ But he'll be stopping people if they are going to try the Hornswaggle's Vengeance. Given the fact that G'raha's attempted it before - ]

If you value your tastebuds, I would step away now.

b. Games

[ G'raha will be quite enthusiastic about playing pranks. Maybe your Skull Bun suddenly has a bite in it. Or that Fruit Skewer has disappeared entirely. Maybe even the back of someone's head has found themself a target of a stray watergun blast. Yet when someone looks for the culprit, they don't seem to be in sight! ...There are times where G'raha really does enjoy simple spells like making oneself invisible.

Otherwise, he will be engaging in other games like ring toss and doing quite horribly. He doesn't fair much better with the Ghost Piñatas either, swinging and missing. Possibly even falling into you or knocking you over - if a 5'2" cat can manage that. ]

🐈 Masquerade

[ Given the situations that G'raha has been involved in... There have been little and less occasion to go to anything as fancy as a dance or, really, anything close to it. Not to mention, it's a great opportunity to see something new. Thus G'raha dresses up for the masquerade, sash a brilliant red to match his eyes. His mask had brought about a little pang of nostalgia... Naturally that's why he's picked it. ]

a. Dancing

[ Just like with the food stalls, G'raha can't seem to help himself. He has to have a little here. A little there. And, really, he should exhibit more self control. Should, being the imperative word. And maybe with a reminder, he will. Or a dance is a good way to get him away from the tables.

Initially, he will fluster. Act surprised that he is being asked to dance - if asked before having too much food. Eventually, he'll agree and take to it quite well.

Otherwise, expect a much different response if the flirty food has kicked in. Instead of the flustered scholar, there might be a subtle rumbling sound emitting from him. An impish look in the eye...

There is also the option for blind dancing! ]

b. Flower Arrangements

[ Getting way from the ballroom will be good for him. Away from the food that has likely caused him to behave in a manner he's embarrassed by. Flower arranging seems to be a good way to pass the time. A task that can take up his mind so that it doesn't wander. ]

They have quite the variety. I wonder what they all mean...

[ Of course he has a sensitive nose. Soon G'raha is taking a sniff of pollen and sneezing. Effects can be randomized or selected at will. ]

🐈 Ghost Ship

[ Of course anything peaceful won't last. How could G'raha possibly think otherwise? Naturally, he will be engaging as either casting spells or providing healing at any given juncture. ]

a. Pumpkin Bombs

[ They remind him of Bombs and other creatures like them from his own star. And if they are - ]

Focus on the larger monsters first! They cannot be allowed to grow!

[ G'raha concentrates on casting spells like Fire and Blizzard. His ears are pinned against the back of his head. And in the case of one that is in danger of bursting - G'raha calls for everyone to get behind him - a brilliant blue light emitting a protective shield of sorts for all of those that take his advice. ]

b. Black Tombstone

Curious...

[ G'raha certainly is one of those scholar types that wants to take a closer look at it. Yes, it is dangerous. Yes, they need to get rid of it quickly. But - ]

Don't do anything rash. We have little and less of an idea of how it will react. Before we seek to destroy it, allow me to take a closer look.

🐈 Wildcard

[ You know the drill by now. If nothing up there strikes your fancy, by all means hit me up on Discord @ verthunder and we can plan something. Or, you know, throw something my way and I'll respond and roll with rng and what you provide. ]

[A - Pranks]

[It's fair to say that this time of year is not Roxas's favourite.

Not that he's really celebrated Halloween, or this case, adjacent holidays, but he has been to HalloweenTown on more than one occasion. And the changes to everything have brought it all to mind. Though, this is definitely a bit more festive than what he's used to.

He's not wearing a costume, and is mostly content to wander around, looking at the booths, but keeping his distance. He looks a little unsure of where to start.

Of course, that level of focus does make him a bit of an easy mark. And at this point, it's a bit of an age old prank. Roxas notices too late, that there is a smoking pumpkin bomb at his feet and he is knocked back by the explosion.]

Alright, who threw that?

[He says, after he recovers, almost expecting to see small retreating figures.]

[B - Fancy Clothes]

[Roxas has never been to a fancy party.

He's heard about them, and seen fancy places to hold them, but he's never actually been. And no one's ever really directed him over fashion choices either. The Organization had a pretty strict uniform (that no one really fought). And his regular clothes have always worked for Twilight Town. He's never been in a situation that has required dressing up.

So, staring at the offered outfits, Roxas feels very under-dressed and out of place. He reaches out to touch a jacket and then pulls his hand away, not even sure if he should touch it.]

Do we...really need this? Maybe I should just...

[He sighs. He doesn't know.]

[C - Always Undead Pirates]

i

[Now this? This is something that Roxas knows.

It almost comes as a relief, to have an opponent to fight.

He's on a pier when the first wave hits and it's almost instant, the way his keyblades appear in a flash and he's charging into a hoard of skeletons. Vague memories from Sora's time in the Caribbean coming into his head, and he's almost certain there's got to be some sort of connection. He probably looks a little more confident than he has in past days.]

Need a hand?

ii

[More confident, in fact, that Roxas even volunteers to head out to the Ghost Ship on the reef. This is the kind of stuff that he's good at, and maybe now he can start proving his worth. Swimming and sailing and that kind of stuff can come later.

For now, there's fighting. And Roxas is engaged with one of the axe skeletons. It's bearing down on Roxas with it's axe and Roxas has his keyblades raised to defend, before he shifts, pulling a quick Reversal, to attack from behind. He's almost disappointed as the skeleton crumbles.]

Was that it?

i. quest: guileful grimalkin
[There he was: hunched down in an alleyway with his hands on his knees as he knelt, still as a statue. His blue eyes were locked onto the small creature in front of him. The small black animal was cornered by the wall behind it. It, too, hunched down with a statue's stillness with its back arched slightly, defensively. It looked as though at any second it would either bolt or start hissing and scratch at its opponent.

But, for now, the two simply stared at each other in a silent, unblinking contest of wills. They remained locked that way for what seemed like hours until finally the redhead broke first, only insomuch to utter a single syllable.]

Nya~~

[Like found like. Two kindred souls. What do you do when confronted with this strange scene in the alleyway?]

ii. festival
[Reno was less interested in the family friendly stuff but there was time to kill before the masquerade got under way. So during the day and early evening hours he wandered around the festival. Despite his supposed preferences, the Turk seemed to have a good time with all the fun games and street foods. It was a pity he wasn't a corsair making mischief at pranks. Well, not that he wouldn't get involved if the opportunity presented itself along the way.

In particular, Reno seemed to favor the red moon cakes. He could be spotted eating one a few times during the evening, a mischievous smirk on his features as he watched his skin match the color of his hair. And then there were the ghost piñata games. Pity no one told Reno he was supposed to be on duty and acting responsible. (Or if they had he wasn't obeying.) Instead, he was definitely participating and there was definitely laughter from him as he swung the mallet without a care to what (or who) he hit. Come on, it was all in good fun anyway! And it was a soft mallet!!]

iii. masquerade
[Part of Reno's previous costume stayed with him as he made his way over to the masquerade once night settled in. It was the mask, a feline shaped face obscuring his own as he twirled around the ball, the theme of his look being as close to that of a coeurl as he could manage in this world. He wore a fancily cut suit that was both similar and yet different from his usual flair, black and white with a bit of red accents to match the color of his mask. From the back of it, a long tail animated by magic flicked idly behind the Turk and on his hands a pair of gloves with feline inspired claws to complete the look.

Reno was fine spending time near and on the dance floor, even getting hit once or twice by the mischievous sirens to participate in some blind dancing. He didn't seem to mind who his partner was so long as they were having fun--and if they weren't (well shame on them!) then he would just tease them until they were or they grew frustrated and bolted on him. Occasionally he would step outside for some fresh air. He avoided the flowers unless someone dragged him into it. But he was amused by the firefly lanterns and particularly the act of catching them.]

Oh, come on! Ya gotta be quicker than that!

[Just don't @ him whenever he "cheated" by using his lightning elemental magic to his advantage and swiftly catching some of the more active little buggers. He would just laugh it off anyway.]

Arrival-Deck

The heck is this? Nappa had barely touched down on that Earth place with Vegeta when that weird bottle caught his attention. Then the water everywhere and now he's tangled in rope? What the hell?! Someone left some rigging out for an unfortunate Saiyan to get caught in and he is not happy about it.

"Hey, someone get these things off me! Do you know who you're dealin' with here?! Well?" He insists with a glare at the nearest person. "I'm talkin' to you, pipsqueak!" It's really just an excuse to get them close. Nappa wants some answers...the least of which, is what happened to his Frieza Force armour?! These're just rags! Nothing that befits a warrior like the Mighty Nappa!

Eltrut
Now that he's had some time to process what's goin' in, Nappa sees some opportunities here. These Corsairs seem like real small fry compared to the Frieza Force (they only operate on one planet, even!), but he likes the idea of how they operate. And he's out from under Frieza...out from under Vegeta, even. Guy could rise high under those conditions. So Nappa's decided to stick around, see how things play out. And he got his armour, Scouter, and vial of Saibaman Solution back. That's all the "costume" he needs!

This party, though...pretty freakin' disappointing. But Nappa thinks he can fix that. The Corsairs are supposed to play pranks, huh? Oh, Nappa's got a real good one in mind. Sure, Vegeta would probably tell him no, it'd be a waste, but Vegeta's not here, is he? Besides, Nappa won't use the whole vial.

Nappa wasn't sure about the soil consistency, but fortunately it accepted the two drops he poured, though the resulting two Saibamen are a little different from the usual model; they're orange and their forms are more pumpkin-like than normal. But their talent for havoc is unchanged.

"Hey, there's a target!" Nappa calls their attention towards a Paladin who looks in serious need of a "prank". "Go get 'em! Let's have some fun, eh?" The Saibamen give acknowledging "gya-gyas!" and charge, attempting to chase the Paladin down while Nappa watches, laughing.

"Whaddya know; I'm havin' some fun after all!"

Naughtilust
Supposed to be some kinda party going on at this place; the fun kinda party too. After a hard day's work (not bad for his first day as a Corsair, if he does say so himself), Nappa's worked himself up an appetite.)

"Hey, where's someone gotta go to get somethin' to eat here? Hope you brought enough, we Saiyans don't mess about when it comes to food!" It's clear what Nappa's here for, and it's not the dancing.

Ghost Ship

Now this is a party after all! Finally, somethin' good ta fight has shown up. With his fists empowered by holy magic or whatever, Nappa can finally indulge his Saiyan instincts for battle.

With undead approaching, Nappa puts his hand on your shoulder and pushes you to the side. "Back off, pipsqueak; these boney bastards are mine. Find your own fun!" He doesn't even bother trying to use his Scouter to check their power levels. How big could they be if they're already dead? With an entirely-too villainous laugh, Nappa launches himself into the fray, but there are lots of undead, and Nappa doesn't seem too interested in performing any of the other methods of dealing with them beyond violence. A little assistance might earn some grudging respect.

Eltrut Festival 🎃🎊

[It was curious, and Turo couldn't pass up the chance to at least observes the festivities going on. The noise of those around, people enjoying themselves and others simply exploring as they got used to being in this place as many of them had before.

... and many more before them.

Easy to become distracted—]

Ah, pardon me. I hope that I have not gotten in your way.

[It was also easy to catch him either outside or within Inkwave, fresh from getting his own tattoo touched up. Or anywhere else on within Eltrut for that matter.]

Naughtilust Masquerade 🎭

[Turo had found himself dressed by the sirens themselves- in a dress for their trouble, some fitting boots, and a mask to top it all off. Could be worse, and after a bit of puzzlement for the choice he did what there could be done and simply attended the masquerade since he was there. Even if a little bit.... hesitant.]

Blind Dancing
[Fortunate for him -and whatever partner he was passed to- Turo had gotten a hang of walking in somewhat heeled boots despite not being able to see were he was going. A firm hand to be taken, despite the somewhat awkwardness of—]

Do forgive me, I have not danced for a terribly long time.

[—to say the least for the situation.

Perhaps someone is caught with a gem, or he was spied trying to take a break and simply people watching near the refreshments table.]

Garden
[Turo eventually does retreat out to the gardens for a metaphorical breath, just to seek some quiet and open air from the crowd.

Mask set nearby as skirts were pulled around legs to simply be out of the way as he sat down, leaning back and hands folded in his lap. The quiet was welcome, even under that red moon. The gazebo did make for a good place to retreat to, tucked away as it was amongst flowers and hedges.]

You are a curious specimen-

[Spoken softly; to one of the nearby flowers, but it was quite easy to mistake that for addressing someone.]

Ghost Ship

[Even if still in a dress, Turo was quick to his feet once danger and the place being under attack was clear; two Masterballs were pulled from somewhere and two distinct Pokémon appeared from them. Both being sent off to help push back the undead, and to help make clear escape routes for those that needed the help out-]

This way, those two will not harm you!

The Ship Itself
[Even here Turo kept his two pokémon companions with him, a bit of crystal clinging to the fabric of his clothing and some broken across floorboards from where he had summoned rocks to aid in fighting back the forces within the ship-]

Watch your back!

[A glowing pink blade stabbing through a skeleton and sending a large axe into one beside it as Iron Valiant had moved quickly to intercept at a gesture from him.

Or perhaps at the black tombstone where Turo was using the shellphone to take photographs of it and the odd markings. Iron Valiant aiding in keeping back some of the rushing forces, and Iron Thorns beside him and at the ready to help bash into the thing itself with its bulk.]

Getting Up To Mischief
En guard!!! Or whatever it is that they say anyway! Have at you!

[ She doesn't wait for a response as she lunges out at the nearest person, the corny pirate hat atop her head almost clear wobbling off as she whacks the person in the ribs with her.... sword made from a foam pool noodle.

It's not exactly a prank, but it sure is fun and funny. Mid laughs halfway through trying to make an "Arr" sound. Like a genuine pirate. A really REAL one. ... She's having a good time ok?
]

Engineer's Challenge
A barrel? And you want me to make it FLOAT? With me and someone else innit?

[ Well. Never let it be said that Midadol Telamon isn't up for a challenge. With her hands on her hips, Mid stares at the barrel boat, eyes narrowing a little as the gears in her head start spinning. It could work, really with a little bit of extra work to make it good and water tight. But spooky? Was that really the point of this?

She turns to look at whoever she's been given as a partner and her expression turns into something far more mischevious and a little mirthful.
]

Okay then, we're out to win it. I'm pretty good at functionin' but if you wanna give some ideas on the spooky part of it I'm all ears!

[CLOSED] For Cid (open me)
[ There's just SO MUCH to see, here. Mid had explored the boat she wound up on extensively until they came to the turtle island, and while it wasn't super impressive, she had to admit it was pretty well built. Not that she could be called a super expert. But she has boat building experience under her belt now! But all of that aside, Mid has taken to wandering the island rather cheerily. It's almost overwhelming just how much there is to see and do, and with a fresh tattoo bandaged on her thigh, she's currently following the map in her hands towards a circle she had someone draw on for her.

Quests, missions, adventure! It honestly sounded like a right blast, if she had anything to say about it, and even better that it might earn her a thing or two here and there. What she hadn't expected, however, was what she's currently dealing with. The streets aren't exactly clear of people so she winds up craning her neck here and there, leaning off of one foot to crane around someone as they pass around her (with some annoyance, really, she shouldn't be standing in the middle of the street)—

It's been a long time since she's seen the man she's long since called her father, but there's no mistaking his profile or the way he holds himself. Even the way he's holding the notepad in his hand feels weirdly familiar, like that's something her brain decided to latch onto to remember. It has to be—or it's some kind of cruel joke. Her grip on her shellphone is tight as she tries very, very, very hard to will her feet to move forward. But unlike her swift attempt to avoid something hard like visiting a grave, she just can't seem to get her legs to listen to her.

It'd be a bit silly to react this way if it turns out her eyes are playing tricks on her. She barely registers someone speaking next to her before they practically ram her over, sending her stumbling and whirling around all at once, long braid whipping around her like some kind of weapon with a mind all of its own.
]

'ey, watchit will ya? Weren't like I was all that in the way, yeah?!

🡶 It's A Party
Catching Fireflies With... Honey?
[ A masquerade had seemed like a good idea at the time, but Mid hadn't really had any experience with fancy dresses. Which is why the getup she's in doesn't suit her at all. It's big, flowy, and has way too many layers. Or it did, at one time. There's tulle from the underlayers lying on the grass in the gardens, and what's left of the dress's skirt has been tied up and moved out of the way while her underpants (literal pants, don't be weird) remain covering her legs. The sleeves have long since been abandoned, hanging over a nearby bush.

If asked, it's for practicality, because she's far more interested in catching the fireflies in the garden for lanterns than she is dancing or eating food that's way too fancy to make sense.
]

All right then. You got away the last dozen times, but you're gonna get caught! Just gotta...

[ She's walking along the edge of the fountain, booted feet wobbling in balance as she tries to scoot closer to some fireflies scooting about over the water and the grass... and back again. Really it's only a matter of time till disaster strikes.

If the way she has obliterated her dress isn't a disaster already.
]

🡶 Ghost Ship
cw request: please avoid mentioning graphic descriptions of zombies or cannibalism in relation to the former, these are pretty nasty triggers for me, thank you!

Doing Some Trapping?
[ It's absolute chaos on this boat. And Mid isn't even afraid. Well, she might be, a little bit JUST a little bit— when it comes to the creatures on the boat, but whoever's she with is the one in charge of that while she delicately tries to trace the spider web like trap in front of her. She's got to figure out which portion of the webbing to cut away in order to let them BOTH out of this little cabin they're stuck in.

Luckily, it's just a ghoul or two that's stuck in there with them.

She looks up from what she's doing when she hears something nasty crack wet against wood.
]

Hey! You holding it together over there? I think I just need another minute or two!

Dawn Breaks
[ The sun has risen and Mid? Mid has sunk to the deck of the boat she's on, her legs folded akimbo underneath her as she just sort of laughs. It's stress relief? Maybe. They did it, right? Everything's good now? This is definitely the last time she's going to get on some kind of weird haunted ship.

Laughing, she reaches out and claps a hand on someone's leg, hitting them in a way that's MEANT to be camaraderie.
]

Look at that ey? We did it! They've all gone and left us with time to celebrate!
