[She pokes the ears with a spreading smile, fondness sparking in her eyes.]

But you know that ghouls can be cute, too.

...Suppose that's true. I've met a few that were rather endearing.

[She tilts her head, curious.]

I've seen some, but they were... I wouldn't call them cute or endearing. More like... they liked playing tricks on us.

In my world, at least, and that's also true there as well. But I knew someone—a ghost, actually—who had a few ghostly pets of her own.

[starshower]

As in... you were friends with a ghost?

[There's something like fear that flickers through her eyes.]

Well, guess that's better than the alternative, right?

I wouldn't say "friend," but acquaintances.

But I haven't really paid much attention here...even last year when the ghosts were out. Guess they'll be doing that again this year, too.

Yeah... probably. I hear there's gonna be another party like there was last year.

[She fidgets with the skull a bit before setting it down.]

One that hopefully doesn't get crashed by another ship filled with ghosts.

Think any ghosts would try to visit for a drink?

[She starts a little at his question.]

What, here!?

[And there's a wary glance over her shoulder at the very empty and quiet deck of the ship.]

No way a ghost would come all the way over here just for a drink... right?

[flamekthunder]

Sloooowly sipping his glass of whiskey.]

Would it be a problem? A spirit wanting some...spirits.

Well, if they're paying customers...

[She sounds a little nervous.]

... But can ghosts even drink!?

[flamekthunder]

[There's a subtle light of amusement in his eyes.]

Might depend. The ghost I mentioned before from my world was powerful enough to have a more corporeal form so she could eat and drink like anyone else. They could be the same here.

[And now for a wolfish grin.]

Maybe they've already been around.

[She cuts him off before he can say any more, and she gives him a little shove.]

That isn't funny, you know!

[And now he laughs, if quietly.]

Are you that scared of ghosts?

[starshower]

I'm not scared of ghosts...!

[Yes, she is, and she glances away, embarrassed.]

Maybe a little bit?

[flamekthunder]

[His grin widens as he leeeans in a little closer.]

Really? But you seem to handle other monsters fine.

[starshower]

That's different!

[She doesn't move, but her cheeks do flush when he leans closer.]

Monsters are alive.

What about the undead, like zombies or moving skeletons?

[starshower]

They fall into the same category... though, less scary? Ghosts you sometimes can't see...

[Why is he asking her about this!!!]

[Just propping his elbow against the edge of the corner, chin resting against his hand.]

There are other spirit creatures that aren't ghosts that can be invisible, too.

[starshower]

[She's about ready to shove him again—!]

Let's get back to the skulls, shall we!?

[At this he just snorts and laughs a little—okay maybe more than a little.]

Kind of surprised. Didn't expect you to be afraid of ghosts.

[starshower]

Well, they're scary...

[She pouts a little at him. She's never actually admitted that out loud to anyone before, and she feels a little silly for it now.]

Everyone's a little afraid of something...!

[flamekthunder]

[Just a low hum.]

[She sets down the rabbit skull carefully and is about to bring forward the wolf one. Not that it's any secret, but it's the principle of the matter!]
