Who: Cidolfus Telamon & Benedikta Harman. Status: Closed. Where: Around places. What: Cid and Benedikta follow a lead and sneak into a fancy holiday party. Event stuff TBA. Warnings: it's them, what do you want from me
[Her eyes flutter closed at that light touch of his breath over her lips, as a tingling heat ripples its way through her. Her hand searches for his, and he'll feel her fingers trace over that ring before she lifts it so that the metal shimmers under the lamplight.]
... Is that your wish?
[She cannot say for sure that she is ready, but by that same token, she cannot say that she isn't. She is scared, yes, but not for the same reasons that she used to be. Merely because it is a big step, and every time that they have tried to take those bigger leaps into this new life of theirs, something had come in to stop them.
And her wings...
But she would be lying if she said that she did not wish for it, did not want it... Has not wanted it for a long time. Tonight had only made that clearer, as the ring around her own finger weighs heavier suddenly, the metal cooler than it has been against her skin, as if to remind her that it is there.]
[His gaze moves down to the rings on their fingers, fake in their material yet the symbolism is as real as ever.]
It is.
[A soft, quiet whisper as his eyes find hers, filled with that overwhelming love and meaning that's grown by leaps and bounds within the past few weeks and months. But the quiet smile that forms is gentle as the light, brush of a kiss that follows it.]
But it is a wish worth waiting for.
[He does want it all. Their marriage, their children, their life. But he wants it done right. As much as that fear of her disappearing at any moment still lingers in those shadows, he doesn't want to be too hasty either.
He's content enough to know that it will be something to look forward to, something they both want and can work towards. So long as she knows how he feels, how he thinks, it's enough for now.]
[She knows. It is something that is important to them both, and she knows how much they both want it, but what they want more is for it to be special. They could wed and it would not change a thing besides the fact that their names are scribbled on a piece of paper and they share rings together, but it is the meaning behind it that matters. After everything that they have been through, it is less about the rings and the legalities, but more about showing and proving to the world that they have come back stronger than ever together into this new chapter of their lives. That is not something one should simply rush into.
Even if tonight, just like all the other nights that came before it when they've had to pretend, she wants it just as much.
She captures his lips with hers, dragging him into a sweet, soft kiss that sees to silence the rest of the world for those precious seconds that it lasts.
Silly that tonight is the night they have both been feeling some sort of way.]
I thought you were getting impatient.
[A teasing whisper, as she nuzzles her nose against his, and she runs her finger along his ring again.]
That is true. You still have not asked me again...
[There is a twinge of disappointment that is gone as quickly as it had come in the sound of her voice, letting it be chased away by the feel of his arms around her. She could stay like this forever and be content...]
Though, I suppose this was not the time or the place. A proper date will do.
[The fact that she brings it up at all is already hint on its own, but little does she know how tempted he had been to ask her just a few minutes ago when the top of marriage came up. He only did it because of that very fact she just stated—right time, but not the right place. Especially when now he doesn't want to ask for the sake of asking, but for wanting a real answer.]
And that will come soon, too.
[His hand turns so that he can properly hold hers.]
Quite a bit, really, more than I expected. I'll have to see if I can't make some kind of appointment or meeting with Danos, but suppose would depend what we want to do after that.
[His expression then softens a little.]
Or would you rather I turn this information in to someone else and step aside?
[She understands why he is asking, and she smiles at him, grateful.]
As much as I wish to be free from our obligations for a while... would it not be more suspicious if we were not the ones to follow up on it?
[How she wishes for a vacation. A chance for them to rest and relax together after everything... but she also feels partly responsible for all of this entanglement, and she wishes to see it through to the end. Damn those whales for finding a way into her cold, dark heart.]
Besides, you've already found an in with the mister as well. If we are lucky and are good at this, then he would not suspect a thing.
Then we'll carry on. However it would be good if we did inform someone else should something happen or we need support. But otherwise, we'll keep it as reconnaissance, see whether Danos is just a buyer or something more.
[If just a greedy buyer, then that's easier. Just call in the authorities and have them arrested. But if there's something deeper to this and it's more complicated, well... He hopes not so they can be free of this operation sooner.]
I very much doubt that it is as simple as that... with the perfume business and all.
[Given what they found in that warehouse, and how that was a name that had come up several times. She has a terrible gut feeling about it. But it's not something that she is going to worry over for now.]
For now, we can set up meetings with them and see where that leads. Dig a little deeper if we must, or even can.
[He nods and then kisses that little wrinkle of her brow.]
And if it looks to be something more than we bargain for, we let other heroes save the day.
[A wry grin at that.
Truthfully he still would be in it, but he also isn't so adverse in letting others handle it, either. No longer can he just throw himself into everything and try to handle it all himself.]
[There's just a low huff of laughter at that before she'll feel the familiar magic surround them before they are right back in their home at the Roost.]
[Surprise flickers across her expression, and while she had been expecting a warning, one second there is that pull and the next, they are standing in the living room of their home, arms still wrapped around each other as if they hadn't moved at all.
She just barks out with a laugh and drags him down with her onto the couch, immediately kicking off her heels as soon as they fall. She's forgotten the jewels that had been hiding in her dress, and they tumble out and over her chest.]
[His own laugh follows with her. He did say he had been holding back and now he's starting to show his impatience. Even more so when those jewels tumble out and his eyes linger on where they lay.]
Think I could help with more than that.
[There's that familiar flash of heat in his eyes, but he will just start picking up the jewels, teasing her a little with the ones that are against her skin.]
Is that a warning that I shouldn't ruin it, either?
[His hands are already slipping beneath the front, pulling up against the dress tape that somehow managed to keep this piece from falling completely apart to already push one side away while the other tugs at the center part.]
Would be easier if I could cut this off.
[And that gleam in his eye is a clear tell that he would.]
[It starts with his lips dropping to her neck, hands sliding over her body to push the easier piece away to expose more of her breast before teeth grab the fabric to yank it down to expose her further and allow his lips to take her skin instead.]
[She arches up into him with a soft, pleased moan that falls into a laugh when his teeth nip at her bare skin, the jewels that had been resting at against her chest falling and clattering somewhere on the floor, already momentarily forgotten as she savours the touch that she had been waiting for and yearning all night, before they had even left for Nogard.]
That is cheating.
[But when she lifts her head to watch him, her eyes gleam with fondness again, that flame igniting beneath that simmering heat that's rising to the surface, lighting up her body.]
[Suddenly, almost impulsively, she takes his hand into a firm grip, staring at the ring on his finger.]
...Cidolfus... [A pause, and a trembling sigh that is the only thing keeping her control in tact.] I still had a nice time tonight.
[She brings his hand to his lips, kissing that ring, wishing in that moment that it was real.]
[The sound of her voice urges him on as always, the want and desire that had been building and simmering ready to overflow now that they have nothing to impede them. But her actions stop him, face rising to watch her kiss that ring and send another ripple through him.
Marry me.
Marry me.
Marry me right now.
Not an ask but a demand, a desperate want that threatens to leave his mouth but is forced to swallow. Words that she will see clearly in his eyes because as easy as it would be to just "propose" as he used to, he once again feels that he doesn't want to. Not like this.
He's not sure if she is referring to the real proposal or just the night in general, but it doesn't matter. The flame has been lit and he only responds by rushing in to take her roughly by the lips, the sound of the dress tearing mixed with the thud of the couch hitting the wall and their muffled voices and breaths as he doesn't let up for a moment.
Usually he has better restraint, even work her words against her and be deliberately slower, but not tonight. Not right now as clothes, jewels, and coins are soon strewn across the floor.]
[She always knew that tonight would end this way. As soon as she put on her dress and him that suit and felt the way that their eyes had roamed over the other, it was only a matter of time before they both gave in to their desires. What she did not know was that they would be accompanied by such intense emotions. It's not as if they hadn't played the married couple before—this is what, their third time?—but that, alongside the rest of it, had only emphasized those feelings they share. The wish for something more.
She does not want to rush, but how much longer must she wait? And it is not even about him. She knows that she need only say that she is ready and he will make it happen, but how much longer must it be before she is ready? There is still so much to do, so many threads left unravelled, and the pinpricks at her back remind her of the one of many things that they still have to solve. Her wings... She wants her wings so that when it is finally time to give all of herself to him completely, she has finally picked up the pieces of herself that she needs.
Right now, though... Tonight, she can indulge again in the fantasy and allow him to do so as well.
And though he does not say it, she can feel that demand on the way that his lips take hers, and how his hands touch her. In everything that he does. She returns that sentiment equally, a silent whisper that if he were to ask her now, she might very well have said yes, so lost in him that nothing else in the world matters. That is how it tends to go, isn't it? So why is it so much more...?
These are all thoughts that leave her the moment his hands find her skin beneath the dress, and the clattering of the jewels across the floor reaches her ears, the sound making her shudder because of the promise that it holds. She senses that he intends to make good on her words, in both of the ways that she had meant, tonight and later. Senses that whatever thread of restraint that either of them still had, shared between them, has snapped after a long night of wanting.
And it will turn into an even longer night of giving in. With the rings still around their fingers, the touch of the metal a cooler contrast to the heat of his hands on her, it feels as though they burn into her, that reminder imprinting itself again and again upon her skin so that she might never forget this feeling. Her own touch carries those same intentions, reminding him of what it is that is waiting for him at the end of this road.
More importantly, that they would chase it again and again in the many nights to come...]

I just have good restraint.

Shall we head home, then?

[She smiles against his lips, letting them brush over his, as she turns her gaze briefly to the party.]
And before someone realizes that all of their nice jewels and money are gone.
[A peck to his cheek before her smile fades a bit.]
At least we have managed to get something out of tonight besides that.

I am not made for the hero life anyway. Not much of one myself.
[She pulls herself away to glance around at the main street further down.]
Speaking of being unheroic, shall we find a carriage to steal? Or would you rather simply teleport back?
no subject
Save the carriage ride for another time.

Think you might start with this pesky dress? I wouldn't want to ruin it.

You are not the one who has to explain to the dressmakers why I've brought back another torn dress.
[Not that she minds, and she certainly is not making any moves to stop him, which should be enough to answer his question. Mostly.]
... But would it not be fun to unravel?
no subject
[His eyes gleam.]
But suppose I could always do this.
