[ It is that time of the year again, of course. It's different than what G'raha is accustomed to back home, of course, but he's come to love the traditions here just as much. Now upon hearing that one might seek out a precious stone for their partner has him curious. Of course he and Zack have made promises to one another, but there's something about keeping up these little gestures. Oh there's no real need to reaffirm, of course... Raha is not so insecure that he needs reassurances either.

This is just... Something that they have. Between them that others cannot share in. Almost a secret, if you will. That's why he might be looking around for something to give Zack.

Chances are that, well, Zack might be doing the same? ]

[Chance are, Zack is absolutely taking part in this new quest. It seems simple, more about the people you're doing the quest with. And Zack has no problem with that. Because it seems like a no-brainer to try and find a perfect pebble to give to G'raha too.

They don't need big, continuous gestures between the two of them, no. But they do them anyway. Mostly because Zack is just that kind of person. Just because he has G'raha in his life now doesn't mean that the gestures stop.

Plus. He knows G'raha secretly like these romantic kind of gestures. Come on.]

It's going to be harder to find something that works with the snow falling like this.

[Zack laughs. It's getting so much colder now but the falling snow is nice. Despite that... He's wondering just what sort of pebble he could give G'raha. It's got to be good. It's got to be perfect.]

[ Is it even really "secretly" at this point? G'raha doesn't seem to think that it is. There's a chuckle as Zack settles in next to him with a laugh. The air is getting colder, but Raha doesn't feel it at all.

He raises a brow at the other as he smiles. ]

Are you saying that you are incapable of finding something to suit my needs? Or are you implying that I will not meet your standards?

[Zack lifts a gloved finger.]

I'm saying that if I'm going to find something for you, it has to be the best choice I can find. Nothing less than perfect. Yeah.

[He's not usually a perfectionist but for something like this? Maybe he'll be a little more picky.]

[ Raha reaches up and takes Zack's wrist. He pulls Zack's wrist so that he can place a kiss on gloved knuckles. ]

You are the best choice that I could have found. [ A smile. Warm and fond. Then he holds that hand. It's his now. ] Though mayhap I will challenge you to find something more perfect than yourself.

[Don't be so damn cute... Zack grins warmly the moment that G'raha claims that hand for his. They can walk for a while through the snow like this. He laces his hand with G'raha's properly and off they go.]

Now how am I supposed to compete with something like that?

[He laughs.]

I want something that you'll love. Something that will make you think of me when you've got it.

[~~just get him an engagement ring already~~]

[ He's learning to be smooth. It's all Zack's influence and, well, confidence built from their time together. As the man laces fingers together, G'raha's shoulders shake in a chuckle. ]

You can't, hence the point. Though I do believe you won our last little verbal encounter.

[ A smile. Yes, they can walk like this for a moment longer. ~~Ring!~~ ]

Funny you say that. I was thinking of looking for something much the same.

[Zack grins warmly, tugging G'raha snug to his side with a squeeze of his hand.]

Are you sure you don't get tired of all these little romantic traditions this place seems to throw around?

[Who is he kidding.]

[ And so, too, does Raha smile. Comfortable and warm against Zack's side. As he always is.

Then he has to just laugh. Zack can't seriously be asking that question! ]

Do you grow tired of them? I fear that is the only way that you will ever get me to stop thrusting them upon you and being overjoyed when I receive them in kind.

[ Raha is a romantic. Of course he loves this. ]

[He absolutely knows that G'raha is a romantic heart. And who is he kidding- Zack is too. But he can't help asking anyway, getting a smirk on his lips as he does.]

Get tired of spoiling you and getting to see you fuss over all these frilly romantic things? Not a chance.

[He presses his lips to G'raha's temple.]

If you're happy, I'm happy.

[And he likes doing it.]

[ They are both individuals that enjoy romantic gestures from their chosen partner. Though G'raha wouldn't call them frilly. This is important to him!

Before he can say such a thing, Zack kisses him. Raha breaths out and leans further against the man. Eyes continue to scan for anything that stands out to him. ]

We tend to spoil one another. You make me happy, Zack. Never think otherwise.

[Zack smiles in return. He's sure to appreciate each time G'raha wears the hairpins he's bought for him.]

These days, I never do.

[He's happy that G'raha is.

Speaking of which, there is a sparkle in the snow nearby. It catches Zack's attention with a bit of its sparkle so he points that way and leads them over.]

Hey, see that? Give me a second.

[He'll go scoop it up.]

[ He adores the pins that Zack gets for him. That's what has prompted Raha to get Zack earrings to match. That way when they go out there can be no question of what they mean to one another. No that people genuinely do. Not as much now, anyway.

Though perhaps he should think of other accessories, given how long his hair is starting to get.

Raha leans up for a moment, presses lips to Zack's cheek.. ]

Good. You never should. Do this and I will also not question whether or not I am deserving of it.

[ Zack sees something though. G'raha can tell by the way the man increases his pace. Now that's just not fair! How is it that Zack finds one first? ]

How did you -

Lucky chance.

[Zack shoots G'raha a cheeky look and then scoops through the handful of snow he has. What he reveals in his palm and a small white glittering crystal. It's not clear like a diamond but shiny and milky and looks like sparkling ice.]

Hmm. Not bad... Not sure if it's the perfect pick, though. What do you think?

Lucky chance...

[ Red eyes roll as he turns about himself to look closer at the ground. Zack is too distracting and now Raha himself has nothing to show. He wishes to find a blue that matches Zack's eyes. Deep and clear like the sea -

He turns as Zack shows him the sparkling gem. ]

Perfect pick? [ He looks down at the stone. ] It quite nearly reminds me of a star, actually. The way the light hits it reminds me of how they twinkle in the sky.

Yeah? Like a star?

[Zack toys with the crystal for a moment, feeling the edges on the pad of this thumb.]

If that's the case, what do you think of diamonds?

Are you worried that I will not accept your stone if it is anything less than perfect?

[ He places his hand over Zack's - the one holding the stone. ]

Would I love a diamond? Naturally, because it would be you that presented it to me. However, I believe the stone that reminds me of you most would be a boulder opal. The dark blue mingled in with a vivid green would be as though one was losing themselves in your eyes.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.

[Once again, he's never been a perfectionist. But something like this? He wants to get something for G'raha that means ... everything!

G'raha sure has a way of making him feel humble, though.]

That's it? You want something that reminds you of me? Are you sure that's enough?

How dare you imply that you aren't enough.

[ G'raha pushes himself up onto his toes. He does so in order to brush his nose against Zack's. There's an even tighter squeeze to Zack's hands. ]

Why would I not want a constant reminder of someone who fills my heart so completely? Need I say that you are my infinitely better half?

[Zack lets out a chuckle that rumbles easily through his chest. He moves to wrap an arm around G'raha's waist so he can scoop the redhead closer.]

I could say the same thing about you. I guess I should have guessed you wouldn't want something so typically traditional.

[Like a diamond- But they're not really talking about traditional things right now, are they...]

Alright, something that looks like my eyes. Then I'll need something that reminds me of the sharp, beautiful red eyes you have.

[ There's a little "mrp" of surprise, considering Zack keeps wanting to see just how little distance he can put between them. Though he is a little confused at "something so typically traditional." ]

Traditional? Whatever do you mean?

[This way he can give G'raha's nose a little boop with his finger. Boop.]

Nothing. Nothing at all.

[He smiles knowingly and then parts from G'raha so they can go searching again!!]

Alright, let's keep looking.

[ Raha is only a little startled by the boop. Zack is up to something with this... And G'raha feels like he might have missed something? He blinks a couple of times and wonders if he can do something to get the answers out of Zack.

Probably not. So he just gives the man a squeeze before realizing that he'll only find out when Zack is ready. ]

Aye. I have a stone to find before you to.

[He's not up to anything. Nothing at all.

But luckily, he was able to squeeze some information out of G'raha that he can tuck away for later.

Zack gives G'raha a wink.] Yeah? Then you better get searching before I find something even better.

[ That's not very reassuring! G'raha continues to look at him, head tilted in a way as if to determine what secrets he might still pry from this man. He then shakes his head, ultimately deciding against it and smiles. ]

Well then. I shan't disappoint, hmm?

[ Unfortunately that means letting go of Zack and parting. A brief parting, but they will need to do so in order to truly search. ]

How long should we look for? I fear you may begin to grow cold if I am not at your side.

[Zack puts his hand on his chest, pretending to be hurt that G'raha parts from him at all. Then he pretends to shiver his shoulders, too. Brrr.]

I don't know. There's probably a limit of what we can find on Eltrut that's worth keeping, anyway. Unless we go up into the mountains. I might just be dead from lack of attention by the time we get there.

Actually, I might be inclined to believe that, given how you so crave it.

[ His smile is fond, but also playful. He gives Zack a smack with his tail before taking off. ]

Give me a bell and I will return.

Hey!?

[G'raha is just taking off like this?! Zack's going to die!! (He's fine.)

He debates chasing after G'raha but... Okay, he'll let the redhead search on his own for a bell. But that means Zack goes back to searching for something that's more suitable for today.]

[ Oh don't worry. He looks over his shoulder. Considers something for a moment..

Then darts back over. He gets upon his tiptoes and pulls Zack down for a kiss. After that Raha runs off again with a smile on his features. What a brat!

And sooner or later, G'raha does return. Seems like he has... A small satchel with him. His ears are wiggling. Tail is swishing.

Seems like he believes that he found himself something good. Now what about Zack? ]

[Zack is left standing there gaping! G'raha can't just take off on him after being so damn cute? ... The heck is this?

Well. The competition is on. For now, Zack tries his best to find something that can be just as precious and special as what G'raha explained to him before. It's going to be tough, though. Eventually, Zack comes back with a handful of shiny gemstones and glassy pebbles that he found near the shore.]

Well? You look pretty pleased with yourself. What did you find? Are you ready to swap rocks?

[ Thankfully, the stone that Zack seems to like to compare Raha's eyes to are actually relatively easy to find. It's as though the island itself thought to give rise to many a stone that could be used for this purpose.

Raha looks rather confident. ]

I brought several, in fact. You may choose which you think is best fitting.

[It looks like they both found a decent little trove of pebbles to pick from. Zack gives a warm chuckle and then pokes through the stones that G'raha found. He's not an expert in stones by far but hey... Pretty red stones. He'll pick one that he thinks matches G'raha's eyes the most. Not quite a ruby but something just as fetching.]

Alright, I think I'll keep this one.

[As for Zack's handful, he's found a good amount of glassy blue and green-blue stones to pick from.]

[ It would seem that they have both found what the other had tasked them with. The thought makes him smile. Softly.

He picks out the stone that best resembles Zack's eyes in return. Something that glitters and glistens when the light hits it a certain way. ]

Then I shall have this one. Now what to do with these stones, I wonder...

Hmm.

[Zack does reach up to touch his earring in his earlobe.]

I could be overdue for a new ear stud.

[ G'raha's hand joins Zack's. His fingertips graze over the shell of Zack's ear. Then they linger over the soft lobe. He rolls it between thumb and forefinger, a smile on his features. ]

Aye, I can see where it would make a good one. Then mayhap we should stop by a jeweler?

[Zack's lips quirk into a smirk.]

Sure, let's do it. What about your "pebble" what do you want to do with it?

[ He fusses with it. On one hand, he has too many necklaces as is. Rings... Well he hasn't been much for those. His hands get into too much during fieldwork. ]

What if I were to do the same? It would require a piercing, I imagine, but surely those aren't too painful?

[Zack stares at G'raha's ears...]

Are you sure you can pierce your ear? ... Won't that ruin your sensitivity or something?

[Those precious cat ears... Zack has no clue if they should even be pierced.]

[ Precious cat ears... Does that mean that Zack doesn't want to see them pierced? ]

Not at all. There are many back home that have their ears pierced. 'Tis a common enough practice even for those who have sensitive ears.

[It's not that he doesn't want to see them pierced...

He reaches up and touches one.]

Well, if that's the case. If you want to get a piercing, why not?

[ And his... Cheeks color. Ahem. Zack. That's his ear. In public.

Not that Zack doesn't do these things in public all the time. He so very much does... ]

Do you... Think it would look all right?

[Public displays of ear touching.]

I think it would look great on you. When do you want to go?

[ As long as Zack thinks it would look good... But then they would have mirroring studs, would they not? ]

Do you think the one that does our tattoos would know how?

[They would basically have matching studs in their ears, yep! Zack sees nothing wrong with that.]

I think so. Most tattoo shops also do piercings. Come on, let's check it out.

[He holds his hand out to G'raha.]

[ G'raha smiles and takes Zack's hand. He doesn't necessarily know whether or not there is truly anything to this tradition beyond a simple exchange. At the end of it all, it matters very little. As long as he can continue to do these sorts of traditions with Zack and express his feelings of gratitude and affection, that makes it all have meaning.

Of they go, hand in hand. A stone that matches the one that dwells within their heart. Whatever the future may bring, they will handle it together.
