Who: Beat and you!
Status: Open
Where: Eltrut, Nogard, Hero's Rest
What: Yellow Featherman bounty + MANTA + mingle
Warnings: None, will adjust if needed
[There had been talks of this yellow-suited person appearing out of nowhere roaming about during Dragon's Gale. While many chalked it up to one of the riftfarers, their sudden appearance made people feel uneasy. Who was this masked individual, and why were they waltzing about out in the open? If they're serious about keeping their identity secret, why are they parading around for everyone to see? It doesn't help that they seem to have disappeared all of a sudden.
Well, most people would be wrong. The Yellow Featherman had no intention to keep his identity secret. In fact, you might have even seen them with their helmet off around Ocard, participating in the festivities, revealing it to be none other than Beat. Surely there was some ulterior, probably nefarious reason for the suit.
Early on, not knowing that there is a bounty on his head, he is seen going about his day, business as usual around Eltrut, Nogard, and Hero's Rest. The other boys of Hero's Rest might've even seen the costume lying around in his room.
After some running around and now well-aware that people are chasing him for the bounty, Beat could be seen speeding past, either on foot or on his skateboard, bumping into passers-by only with the intention of getting away. Why did this remind him of his time in the Reaper's Game? If you corner him, he has no intention of going down without a fight. He immediately has his hands up, balled into fists in front of him.
Catch the featherman (or not, he'll also appreciate warnings or being hidden away), and find out what he was up to in the first place.]
[Though Beat is always up for a challenge, especially when it was related to food, he might have bitten off a little more than he can chew with this one. He could swear that the octopus wriggling before him stares back at him, even if he couldn't really see its eyes.]
Any chance I can get this takoyaki to-go?
[It's at this moment the octopus takes this as an opportunity to slowly try to-go, literally, slithering away from the dish it was served on. Seeing this, Beat throws himself over the table, in an attempt to catch the octopus before it gets too far— only to be met with its slimy skin as it slips out of his grasp.]
Yo! I didn't mean you can book it! [But that doesn't stop the octopus from making its getaway. This meal coupon better be worth it.]
[Never one to pass up a chance for free food, Beat takes on the MANTA quest dragging you along for the ride when he sees you peering MANTA board as well. And this might be a good way to get away from all the would-be bounty hunters. After getting the equipment needed, you both set off into the water in hopes to catch the biggest fish possible.
The catch? Fishing can be boring as hell. Despite being over an hour into the challenge, Beat hasn't caught even a nibble on his line. Letting out a loud grunt, he stomps his foot on the dinghy's floor, rocking the boat from side to side.]
It's like they swimmin' away from me, yo! Thought they said they was supposed to be bitin'.
[Casting a glance over his shoulder, he grumbles once more.] Any luck on your end?
[Once the bounty has been all figured out and squared away, Beat is floored, wanting to do nothing more than kick back and relax. And that's what he does after he finds a sketchpad and some drwaing implements. Sitting on a bench or even on the ground, he starts doodling on the pad, working on different designs that might fit on a skateboard deck. On the borders and edges of the pad, there are some smaller doodles, mostly of random passers-by and sometimes of a bespectacled girl with a mischievous grin on her face.
Bother him? Talk to him? Peer eeriely over his shoulder?]

BOUNTY: yellow featherman—

MANTA: octopus traveler—

MANTA: bigger fish to fry—

Bounty - After
no subject
He barely sees when Shadow reappears in front of him, much less try to evade the attack that comes right at him, even unable to dodge at with the speed he's going. Shadow's kick hits him square in the cheek, causing Beat to tumble onto the ground. He lets out a loud groan in pain, hand on his face as he picks himself off the floor.]
What the hell? How'd you end up in front of me?
[That wasn't just a trick of the eye, was it?]

no subject
What's it gonna take for ya to stop chasin' me? I ain't done nothing wrong!
[While people start watching, muttering amongst themselves, Beat puts up his fists in front of him, ready for a fight if things come to that.]

no subject
Bwuh? What the—?
[Before he can even take a step forward, something clips the back of his legs, and he falls backward, landing straight on his ass. All he could manage was another grunt in pain when he lands. In retaliation, he swipes his arm backward, hoping to catch his opponent, just to get a hit in.]
no subject
The crowd disperses to avoid the incoming human projectile, Shadow pursuing just behind them. He doesn't plan to let up, following up with another attempt to get a punch to Beat's face as they land.]
no subject
Furret?
no subject
Stopping what he was doing, he extends a hand towards the furry creature, much like one would with a dog. His sketchpad sits on his lap with what looks like a half drawn moogle on it.]
Hey there, li'l guy. Ain't seen you 'round before.
no subject
[Furret takes a few steps closer and sniffs at Beat’s hand, before padding closer.]
Fur!
no subject
You one of the other guys' pets?
[Not that he's expecting a reply. But he reaches out to give it a gentle pat on the head. He's always had a soft spot for animals.]
no subject
[While he's getting petted, Furret worms his way closer and peeks at the drawings. He lets out a little chirr, pawing at the paper. What's this?]
no subject
Beat grins as he pets Furret, but releases his hand when it begins to move again. He adjusts the paper as it paws at it, tilting it until it faces the Pokemon completely. One of his hands reaches up to sheepishly scratch the back of his head as he begins to explain himself.]
Tha's one of the moogles we got here. Me an' my dog kinda... messed up and gave it some trouble, so this kinda my way of sayin' sorry.
no subject
[Oh no, he got in trouble with the weird doodle creature? That's not fun! But Furret can see that Beat feels upset for that, so Furret offers another chitter before moving to press his furry head up against Beat in a sort of side-body hug. He's sure if you apologize all will be well!]
no subject
C'mon, yo. Keep that up an' you might jus' make my girl jealous of ya.
[He's joking, of course, obvious in his voice and the look on his face.]
no subject
Furret? What're you doin'?
[Furret looks up and chitters happily as Kieran walks over. He looks between his Pokemon and Beat, blinking between the two of them.]
Oh, sorry if Furret's buggin' ya. He can be a bit pushy with stuff he wants.
fisssssssssssssssssssh ♡ btw sorry if this comes up more than once, dw is being a jerk
[Vincent had been... confused when his arm had been grabbed at the MANTA office. Bemused when he'd literally been dragged halfway across town. Perturbed when every effort he'd made to quietly slink away while the youth had been busy procuring supplies had failed. Resigned when he'd all but been shoved onto the vessel.
...But now? Asleep.
The sunlight wasn't exactly comfortable. Nor was the sensation of warmth spreading throughout his body at sitting slap bang in the middle of a sunny day without shade and without cover- and he was certain that if his skin could burn, the middle of his face would be bright pink. But sleep had come. That was, until the stomp. The sway of the little dingy on the sea- the angered exclamation from the youth on the other side of the boat.
Vincent rises. His upper body slowly moving upward- his arms uncurling from where they had lain, crossed over his torso. And he blinks. That's sure his own fishing pole tucked underneath his armpit.
He looks around.]
...No.
[His tone is flat. Extremely unimpressed.]
no subject
But that reply is met with a loud exhale and a click of his tongue against his teeth.]
Prob'ly good that it ain't for ya. We mighta lost your pole if ya snagged something huge while you was gettin' some shut-eye. An' I ain't payin' for a new one if we did.
[There was a reason he was trying to work on these quests and bounties, after all. Any form of cash would be good. He then fully turns his body to face Vincent, adjusting his fishing pole along with him. He's not giving up just because we was conversing with someone.]
You sure was sleepin' like you was dead, yo. Scared you stopped breathin' there for a sec.
no subject
...Right. Wedged underneath his armpit at some point, either as he was drifting away to sleep or after it had already enshrouded him. His eyes close. His eyebrows furrow, and the back of his (gloved) hand scrapes across his cheekbone and his eye to scrape away the last of the drowsiness. An exhale soon follows.
And, without even the most cusorary adknowledgement of his sleeping habits:]
Remind me why we're [You're.] doing this again.
bounty we know what this is
...Beat?
[Specifically being chased by people??]
no subject
When he spots Eustace down the road, he moves faster, to put some distance between him and his pursuers, trying to get to Eustace.]
Wolfie! I'mma need a li'l help. Need to shake 'em somehow!
[And just when you think he would stop... He doesn't and keeps running further away as fast as he can. Yeah, it seems pretty dire.]
no subject
[But he can only stare in bewilderment when Beat runs past before he looks back down to where the hunters are shouting at him, telling him to get out of the way.
...
Well, when in a mostly lawless place, no one really questions when someone just pulls out their very big gun and just aims it at them, making them falter before there's a blinding flash of light as lightning explodes a few feet in front of them. By the time it clears and they get their vision back, Eustace will have already run off and catch up to Beat.]
This way.
[And he'll just grab the back of the kid's shirt and yank him down a side street.]
no subject
Yo, that was some quick thinkin', Wolfie. [He sounds out of breath, sweat dotting his brow as he leans on his knees.] Thanks.
no subject
Explain.
[His usual one word commands...
And he'll also gesture for Beat to follow him. It won't be a dead run, but he will be moving quick.]
Bounty - After
Cute and all, but he holds up his hands in a placating manner. ]
Hey, take a breath, let's just talk a minute here.
[ Please give him your villain monologue, Beat. ]
no subject
There ain't gonna be no talkin' if you's tryin' to take me in, yo.
[Sure, he might've suggested helping out with bounties, but that was before he thought he would ever end up as one. And seeing Hawks' wings, he's not sure if he can outrun him, even with his skateboard and extra speed. If he had to resort to violence, he was going to give him one hell of a fight.]
no subject
I don't know yet, I'm trying to get a read on the situation. Why don't you tell me what's going on?
[ Outrun him on a skateboard? That's cute. He definitely wouldn't. Hawks has a few weaknesses, but speed is not one of them. ]
Bounty (After)
Does he even care? Not particularly.
Ranma's seen Beat knock one ghost's block off months ago, so at the least, he can fight. Is Ranma here to help his fellow crewmate, or collect on the bounty himself? Honestly, that's a question he's wondering himself, even right now as he dashed in front of the alleyway he saw Beat flee into. Effectively cornering the mark in yellow.]
Y'wanna clue me in on why you're runnin' around dressed up like a Super Sentai, dude? Or can we get on with... [Wordlessly raising a fist, though given his rather lax posture, it doesn't appear like he's here to fight.]
bounty
Now partially motivated to figure out what the story is, she watches Beat racing through the streets on his skateboard from a rooftop before she descends down, her spear slamming into the ground just a few feet in front of him.]
