CATCH ALL ZONE: ACT 2

Emerald Hill Zone: Act 1 [OPEN]

[Honestly Sonic's already done a few laps around the island by the time someone decides to hold a race. He'd never admit it out loud because he's far too cool and badass to be bummed out about it, but it's making him mad homesick. The loop-de-loops are cool, but they're not his loop-de-loops. The weird checkered grass is pretty spot on, but the island's way too small to feel quite like home. It could be a huge island in reality, but when you move as fast as Sonic does, you notice these things.

Time to shake off the weird funk, though, there's a race to be won! Maybe getting his competitive juices pumping will help clear his head, not to mention get a proper work out in after being out of commission for so long. And hey, maybe he'll get to meet a few more stupidly fast people that don't already know him from home and hate him for various reasons...haha hahaaaa.

Catch him for a pre-race chat, bump into him during, or catch him after. This is more of race themed Wildcard situation so go nuts, and feel free to assume your character beat him to the finish line because boy's gonna gave some issues along the way lmao. ]

Emerald Hill Zone: Act 2 [CLOSED to Shadow]

[Sonic's not quite half way through the race yet, but there's a pretty good chance that he's leading the pack considering speed is kind of his entire gimmick . He's good at one thing, okay.

He's laser focused on the path ahead, rocketing through loop-de-loops with perfect precision, dodging obstacles and jumping pitfalls as if this were merely a simple obstacle course. To him that's pretty much all it is, it's lacking the explosions, spike pits and barrage of badniks he's used to charging through that used to make this sort of thing so entertaining back home.

It's probably not a good time for his mind to be wandering to what he missed about about home? Between that and keeping his eyes carefully locked on the path ahead, he's not paying as much attention as he probably should be on what's behind him, or what might be hurtling at him from his left or right with clear intent to cause bodily harm. Maybe this race is about to get a little more interesting.]

NO SIN UNPUNISHED: OPEN

[Maybe Sonic could have done a better job of trying to keep up with current events while he was laid up recovering last month... But like, he didn't. Mad alchemist? Totally missed it, which is why he's peeking out from whatever bush or whatever he was hiding in after tracking down the hairy... creature thing, and asking his quest buddy stupid questions.]

I... okay, maybe I missed something. Is it just looking for it's dad? Why do we need to kill it?

GAME NIGHT: OPEN

[for a while, Sonic and Amy had been talking about getting their hands on some board games and cards and whatever and hosting a game night... somewhere. For simplicity's sake, and in case they get more of a turn out than they can comfortable fit in one of their cabins, the first game night is being held on the deck of the Stormbringer.

Friends would have been personally invited, and then encouraged to invite their friends who could then invite their friends, feel free to assume word of mouth got back around to your character, basically everybody's invited and encouraged to bring games and snacks!

Yes, everybody. Drag some NPC's in too, YOLO. Even That One Guy (you know the one) won't be turned away, at least not by Sonic.]

[The one thing that an edgey hedgehog could easily dethrone them from if he cared about a children's race. Do not be fooled by Shadow's presence, speeding down these oddly familiar paths. He's here with a purpose that actually matters. What powers may be to create this island...they did keep a few shortcuts in that still work.

Descending from one of the paths above, here comes Shadow to try and land a kick on the blue hedgehog in back of the head and have him eat dirt.] You! We have business!

[Oh my God, Shadow, why can't you just CALL HIM LIKE A NOMRAL PERSON

Yes thank you Shadow, Sonic gets kicked right in the back of his stupid head, hits the ground and skids until he's able to tuck into a roll and hop back to his feet. He squares up for a fight, but turns out it's just Shadow looking for a chat?? Or something???]

Wh-- now what!? I was stuck in my cabin for like a month, what could I have possibly done to piss you off this time!? Or is this just how you say 'hi' now!?

[Cause that's what normal people do. He is the ultimate lifeform. He walks forward to stand before Sonic]

Surge and Kit. [And immediately ignores all of Sonic's incessant whining once he has his attention.]

Clearly confused, Sonic lowers his guard. Why couldn't this have been a phone call??]

[You know very well why this isn't over a call. There's nothing on Shadow's face to give Sonic an indication of how he takes that confirmation from the blue hedgehog. Besides unimpressed.]

Tell me what you know about them. [Right now. In the middle this race. ]

[UGH Shadow, look! He just got passed! Look what you're doing!!

Ugh. If this was literally any other topic, he'd bid Shadow a Merry Go Fuck Yourself and get back to his race. Surge and Kit are kind of a big deal though, and not really a topic he should just brush off. Especially with Shadow who apparently just starts conversations with his FISTS, that combined with Surge's instability is just a disaster waiting to happen.

So, Sonic takes a deep breath and crosses his arms.]

Fine. Short version; they were nabbed by this dude called Dr. Starline. He erased their memories, brainwashed them, and enhanced them with cybernetics and stuff. Meant for them to kill replace me and Tails, but now Starline's dead, so they just wanna kill me and Tails for their own reasons. In Surge's case, she blames me for everything that ever happened to her because I didn't kill Eggman, so the two of you will probably get along just fine.

[That last bit was maybe a little snippier than he'd intended, but it's starting to get a little hard not to be defensive around Shadow okay.]

So the feeling he got from those two ended up being true. And who the fuck is Starline? Why did they want to replace Sonic and Tails??? How does Eggman fit in all this? Was Starline one of his henchmen? Sonic giving him the lip and basically telling him a "figure it out yourself" explanation only pisses him off. And so Sonic gets a punch to the damn face, because that wasn't good enough.]

Don't skip on the details, hedgehog! And don't act like you know me! [Two idiots that want him dead are here, and he's probably more concern about getting back to this stupid race.] What can they do? That tenrec can't only have just your speed and strength. [The fox had the ability to control water. So what was the tenrec hiding?]

[Joke's on you, assbutt, Sonic was ready for it this time! Sonic catches the fist just before it connects with his poor face, and gives Shadow a shove. Gee Shadow maybe Sonic's giving you attitude because you don't know how to start a conversation without violence??]

If you want me to elaborate, just say so! You don't need to beat information out of me, Shadow. I'm happy to share it with you, just use your words!

[MAN he is getting sick of this. INHALE. EXHALE... Okay, before Shadow throws another baby tantrum, Sonic continues.]

She has some kind of ability to control electricity. Real powerful stuff. I haven't seen her use it here yet, but that doesn't mean that she can't.

[Was he ready for the wrist grab so he can come back in for a knee to the stomach then? Maybe don't piss him off??]

Should have just explain it all from the start, idiot! [Electricity. Water and electricity. Dangerous to each other. Was that an intentional flaw during their development?] What is Eggman's involvement in this? Did he order this Starline to create them? [Cause, he's getting the picture that if they were meant to replace Sonic and Tails, than it was a means to have control?]

[No he wasn't, but he retaliates by headbutting Shadow in his IDIOT FACE before yanking his wrist free and hopping back a few feet. Just enough room to react if Shadow decides to keep trying to beat on him like a psycho.]

THIS IS THE START! We've been talking for thirty seconds!! No, Eggman didn't order Starline to make them, he did it himself! He wanted to prove to Eggman that he was the better mad scientist or something. And then Eggman killed him. I wasn't there for it so I can't elaborate on that.

Now, if you want to know anything else, just ask! You swing on me again and you're not getting anything else from me. Ever!

[Not being attacked is a perfectly reasonable request, right??]

[That headbutt only made his expression go even grimmer as he growls at him. Hardly knocked him off balance, or convincingly hiding how much that headbutt did.]

Don't tell me what to do! [He will punch Sonic as much as he feels necessary. But he is not advancing and just glaring at the blue hedgehog. Exasperated to hear there's some nutjob that wants to out mad scientist the bastard?? His left hand, balling up into a fist. People truly are hopeless creatures.] Why the hell aren't you doing something about them!? [They're out there, wanting him dead and he's just here, running loops???]

[He is blatantly ignoring that first comment. He'll tell Shadow what to do or what not to do as long as he keeps starting conversations with bodily harm OKAY]

Like what, Shadow? Kill them too? Lock them up somewhere? It's sounding like you ran into them, so what happened?

If that's what needs to be done. Have you consider not adding more problems and eliminating them instead? [Because he's getting tired of Sonic just letting things keep sliding by. Eggman, now those two.]

What dumb reason do you have this time that we shouldn't be doing something about them? [He is blantantly ignoring their second question.]

No, I haven't considered eliminating them. Were you even paying attention? They're victims! It's literally not their fault that they are the way they are! If they're causing trouble though, that needs to be addressed, so tell me what happened so I can get a better grasp on the situation!

[For as much as Shadow bitches about Sonic not communicating enough, Shadow's really no better lol?]

Just because they're victims!? [He clences his fist, growling between gritted teeth. It's no excuse, we're talking about needlessly taking a life. He seen the blue fox do it without even flinching. The look in their eyes as they did so. Familiar to him. The want to hurt, inflicting their anger and pain onto others.

He clicks his tongue. How annoying. The next he speaks, there's less anger in his voice and more irritation.]

I was dealing with a creature that was causing problems for a leviathan. For some reason they made the foolish decision to try and take me down, leaving the creature to run rampant until I removed them. [How is it, that he gets targetted when he actually did nothing to them? Left them alone to their gloating while he dealt with the problems they were ignoring? He huffs, staring down the other hedgehog.]

Just how long have they been at this? [Have they shown a desire to do better? Because right now, it doesn't seem like they want to change their behavior, or try to.]

[Just because they're victims? Yes, just because they're victims! They don't need to be killed, they need help! --is what he would say if he weren't trying to keep the arguing to a minimum. He refrains from snapping back about it and just focuses on everything else, but doesn't hide the very judgmental look on his face.]

And they weren't interested in talking, I take it? Or did you even get a chance to try?

[It wouldn't surprise him at all if Surge just went on the offensive immediately, so he can't entirely blame Shadow for not trying to talk their differences out first.]

As for how long, I couldn't have been more than a couple months. After the last time we dealt with them, they vanished on us and we weren't able to track them down.

[Make any look you want. Wouldn't be the first or the last time someone's questioned his behavior.]

Considering they struck me when I wanted nothing to do with them. What do you think? [Could he have had done more? Maybe, but his priority was eliminating the actual threat before him. They decided to be annoying brats when he initially left them alone. They weren't even trying to fight the creature and just gloating of their pointless victory.] What happened that time you "dealt" with them?

That... sounds about right for them, yeah.

[look he'll defend them to a point. It's not their fault that they are the way they are, but they could both really work on their communication skills.]

Well, I say 'dealt with', but that's really down playing it. After Starline died, Surge had gotten her hands on one of Eggman's inventions, the Dynamo Cage, or something like that? Something that amplified her power and allowed her to absorb energy from other sources, like Whisps. Starline wasn't around to direct her and Kit anymore, but they decided on their own that they still wanted me and Tails dead. Eggman too, but like, that's not so surprising.

Naturally it all culminated in a big fight, and she almost got me. Knocked me into the water and nearly electrocuted me to death. If she hadn't overloaded the Dynamo Cage and knocked herself out... that's weird to think about.

[The whole near-death thing? He's not very good at reflecting on the really horrible stuff. That's probably fine!]

[...] So nothing's changed. They still want to "take care" of you here. [Do you hear that skepticism in his voice, Sonic? Because he has failed to provide a good reason to leave them be. Especially when Sonic just admitted to having a near death experience with them.]

Tell me again why they shouldn't be dealt with. [Victim or not, there's nothing that can be done if they do not wish to change their ways.]

[Sonic folds his arms, taking a moment to think the question over. Well, it was less a question and more a demand, but one that deserves a well thought out answer nonetheless.]

Surge and Kit... besides each other, right now they have nothing. No friends back home, no families, no memories. Starline took that from them when he screwed with their heads. All that they've known is anger, and fear, and I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that me deciding to let Mr. Tinker live didn't kick off the butterfly effect that eventually lead to what happened to them. Even if I couldn't have predicted it, yeah, I feel responsible. So, I wanna give them a chance. A chance to be happy. I think everyone deserves at least that much.

[Not those words. Not those damn words being used by this idiot blue hedgehog. The more he learns about them, the more he wished he hadn't. How far does it go before it all comes back to bite him? Even with Eggman, it's only a matter of time, he can feel it.

...But this isn't home. There are...other capable individuals here.

He growls. Annoyed that he would humor such an idea that the others have fed into him.]

And if they decide to not change their ways, are you going to actually deal with them? Should they deem you're in their way to their happiness, what then?

If it comes down to my life or theirs, I'm not planning to just roll over and die. Just because I'm willing to fight for their right to choose their own path doesn't mean I'm forfeiting my right to defend myself.

Dealing with them in the permanent sense is the absolute last resort, though.

[he doesn't look happy to even be entertaining the possibility that taking them out is on the table, even if it's clear at the opposite end of that table and buried under a mountain of second chances.]

...Useless. [Defend himself? As a last resort? What does he think is going to happen when it's a fight to the death? He shakes his head.]

I'll deal with this myself. [He's done listening to this hedgehog. The jets on his shoes come to life as he speeds off down the path. He'll figure something out. As he always does. If it comes down to it, he'll do what's necessary that the others won't.]

[No SHADOW the last resort is killing them, you absolute dipstick PAY ATTENTION

At this point Sonic just lets Shadow leave. What more can he even say to him? Both hedgehogs have made up their minds and they're both stubborn as hell. This can only end in tears. Or bloodshed. Mostly that one.

Anyway, Sonic has a race to get back to. Maybe going real fast through traps and loop de loops will help him blow off some steam.]
