[She lets her gaze linger on him for a few more beats as she lets her eyes flutter open again before she drops it to the rabbits eating the berries from her palms.]

Sorry. It's nothing wrong. I just... sometimes I don't know what to do with myself.

[His expression softens as he kisses her at the corner of her lips this time.]

There's nothing to apologize for... Just as long as you're happy.

I am.

[She catches his lips for a quick kiss when he presses his own to hers, unable to help herself.]

... You make me happy. Have I ever told you that?

Mmm, in some ways.

[No, she probably has a few times already, but he could always stand to hear it again.]

Well, I could always tell you again.

[It's her turn to lean in and kiss him now.]

I want to do something nice for you in return...

[It's a nice feeling, this. And he just smiles in return.]

I'm sure you will... But not today. Try and surprise me later.

Alright, fine.

[A dramatic sigh that she deflates with, albeit all playfully.]

Hey, you think we could fish in the water here?

Fish?

[He looks over at the small pool and he hums as he stands.]

If there are fish... Might be possible. I'll take a look.

[She's not too keen on leaving this place just yet, but they still need to do their fishing!]

If there's anything in there that we could catch for our dinner, even better.

It's a large enough pond...

[He speaks loud enough from where he is as he walks around it.]

Water is pretty clear without too much of a current, just some tall reeds which would be good hiding places...

[He then stops and peers out before he looks back at her.]

I think we have some bass here.

Really!?

[Her face lights up, and her excitement is felt in the immediate space around her, the bunnies hopping away as she gets to her feet.]

Oh, but... do we have anything to fish with? I didn't see you bring any rods with us.

[He chuckles a bit at that and looks around.]

As useful as profession gear is, we don't always need.

[He walks over to some tall reeds, tugging at them before he pulls out the knife he always carries and cuts off two sturdy ones.]

These will do for poles, and for bait... Some worms or other live bait will work. Though I saw some clams along the rocks there that might work, too.

[She crosses the grass to move towards him, bunnies scattering at her feet as she does, and she sets her hands on her hips as she watches him move, cutting the reeds with ease.]

You come prepared for just about anything, don't you? But I could pick some of the clams!

[He grins at her and nods over to where he saw a small cluster.]

Try over there. We might be able to use them for the meal, too.

[She heads over to where he motions to, running her fingers through the cool, crisp water first before she starts to move some rocks around to search for them, picking up a couple already. There are some smaller fish that dart away from her hand when she reaches down, and she giggles and holds them up.]

These ones are good? ... How are we going to put them on there?

Yeah those should be fine.

[He's now moved towards the bushes and trees, hand rustling through the leaves and branches before cutting several.]

And we'll make the line and hooks with these.

[The clams clatter in her hands as she brings them over, and she'll set a couple aside for them later—]

Have you done this before? Made fishing things out of whatever you could find?

A lot.

[He moves them over to a good space for them to set things down and gestures for her to put the clams out on the grass in the center where he also has the assortment of reeds and branches.]

I don't carry fishing gear that often so if I'm out somewhere I just make something.

[She does as she's bid, fidgeting with one clam as she sits down in the grass cross-legged and watches him.]

Even if you don't have anything like this? Feels like we got lucky with these.

In that case I just don't use a hook and just spear fish.

[He now divides things up a bit before turning to her.]

I don't have another knife so I'll have to cut things for you, but I can show you how to do the rest and what I'm doing.

You can do the cutting, that's fine.

[And as she is breaking apart the clam in her hand, she looks up at him.]

What about catching things with your hands!?

I've done it, but not my preferred method.

And he's carving away at the longer branches, stripping away the bark in thin pieces so that they can be used like rope.]

Why's that? Not quick enough?

Just a hassle.

[Slight frown.]

Easy enough if the fish are smaller, but not so if they're larger. Not to mention the mess of it all...

[That frown only gets another little laugh out of her, and she leans over to give him a kiss on the cheek.]

It's fine. I won't judge you for wanting to use a fishing rod.
