Pokemon Training
[Even though this is a new world with not a lot of Pokemon in it, Kieran still wants to make sure his Pokemon are on their A-game, and that includes training. While he isn’t training to the same extreme levels as he used to back when he was the Blueberry League Champion, he still wants to keep his Pokemon in fighting form, especially since this world has shown it’s got its fair share of challenges already.]
[So whether it’s on Hero’s Rest or just an open area on Eltrut or Nogard, Kieran can sometimes be found with his Pokemon in tow, going through different battle drills, exercises, and mock fights to test their skills.]
Alright, Politoed and Dragonite’re up next! You know what to do!
[He’s a lot more focused when he’s undergoing these drills, and speaks much more confidently as he directs his Pokemon through the drills. He might also not notice anyone approaching, so you may need to make your presence known before he acknowledges you.]
Eltrut Snap!
[Taking photos seemed like an easy task, and he knows Mr. Kaveh is a friendly sort, so of course Kieran wants to help! However, after being given the bulky camera box, he can be found looking it over like it’s some kind of super-computer or something.]
Wait… how’s this supposed to work again..?
[He’s looking over the camera very carefully… but then he presses a button and snaps a photo right in his face. He yelps, before rubbing his eyes.]
Geez… And I thought the Rotom phones were hard to use…
Perfect Pastures
[Simple, honest work like this is right up Kieran’s alley; coming from a small village where farming is quite prevalent means Kieran’s quire adept at taking direction and helping out where he can. While he’s not exactly a carpenter, his rudimentary woodworking skills mean he’s pretty familiar with working with wood and with building things, so he can be quite reliably assist with the building of fences for the animals. And once the]
[However, once it’s time to actually bring the animals to the enclosures? That’s when Kieran becomes utterly distracted. He stares at the cows and chickens and pigs, staring at them wide-eyed like it’s his first time seeing them. Which… it actually is, funnily enough.]
These’re the animals that’re bein’ brought in? Wowzers… They all look so weird.
[He’s absolutely fascinated by them, especially when he gets the opportunity to pat one of the cows.]
You’re called a cow? Heheh, you look like a funny-lookin’ Miltank!
The Things We Do For Cheese
[The lure of a legendary treasure lost somewhere in the mountains is something that draws Kieran’s curiosity big-time, and is what eventually draws him to the quest. However, while he’s quite familiar with scaling up Oni Mountain in the middle of the night back home, climbing up the foggy cliffs of Nogard’s mountains is a bit different, and is what causes him to frown.]
You gotta watch yer step, the path’s kinda narrow here.
[While they make their way up, though, Kieran can’t help but let his curiosity wander.]
So… what kinda treasure do ya think’s up here?

[After he's done bringing the cow over to the new pasture, that is. But as he begins to lead the cow over, his eyes widen.]
So there's two demigods here now?? Wowzers... is he as nice as you are?
[Because Nico's nice to talk to. And, well, Kieran may have more confidence these days, but loud and brash people still kind of intimidate him.]
Uh... you mean, like... think like people do? [That's what the words mean, right? Or at least what Nico's going for.] I dunno. I mean, Pokemon and people are different even back home, but Pokemon're able to... y'know, if you show 'em enough kindness, they'll be willin' to make a bond with ya. I haven't been able to see if animals can do the same here.

[Nico lets out a huff of annoyance.]
Percy's a pain in the ass. He never listens to me. And since he's older, you'd think he'd know better than to do things with half a plan. But he's smart in battle, so there's that.
[Another huff.]
Sounds more like they're more intelligent than animals.
no subject
Man… that sounds kinda like Drayton…
[Right down to both being good in battling, but also being super annoying despite being older. He sighs.]
I guess so? I mean, Furret listens to me a lot more than these animals do, if that makes sense?
[The cow was nice enough, but didn’t really respond the same way as a Pokemon does. Either way, into the pasture enclosure the cow goes, before Kieran pulls out his Pokédex. He takes a minute to cycle through it before finding two images on it.]
This long one here’s Gyarados, and this one here’s Sharpedo.
no subject
They must never meet. If they do, they'll be twice as annoying for us. And we'll have to deal with it with violence.
[Okay, maybe not. He's still not over the fact that Percy thought he wanted to kill him.
He lets out another annoyed huff and looks at the pokedex.]
Hmm... The Gyarados looks like a sea serpent from my world, and the Sharpedo looks like.... half a shark.
no subject
[Hey now, Drayton may be a toothpaste-haired bozo, but Kieran doesn’t think they need to resort to violence to stop him?? Who was this Percy guy anyway..?]
Oh, so you got Gyarados and Sharpedo-like animals in your world? But uh, what do ya mean, half a shark?
no subject
[Percy is also a bozo. And deserves a smack on the head.]
Just that. It's missing the back half missing.
[He takes a stick and draws a shark.]
See?
[It's the most basic picture of a shark ever.]
no subject
[Kieran doesn't deny they could use a smack, but he also doesn't want to get punched back. Still, Kieran watches Nico sketch the basic shark drawing, tilting his head a bit.]
Oh..! So that's what a shark looks like? Hang on...
[Cycling through his Pokedex, he pulls up a photo of another Pokemon.]
It almost looks like if ya combine a Sharpedo with a Garchomp, you'll get a shark.
no subject
[He looks at the Garchomp.]
Holy crap, that's a land-shark.
no subject
[Usually it was his sister picking the fights with others… and while he’s more confident lately, he doesn’t really wanna go around getting into fights like that.]
[Kieran blinks, tilting his head at Nico.]
Huh? Land shark? Is that what you’d call ‘em?
no subject
[He was about to say that's useless, but then he remembers Kieran's not a demigod.]
Where I'm from, you have to fight to survive. Violence is part of everyday life.
Landsharks aren't real, but they're in video games.
no subject
[Right, Kieran almost forgot about that detail.]
Woah... so somethin' like Garchomp'd only appear in video games where you're from? Back home kinda rare, but definitely real. I remember readin' about a trainer who has one as her ace Pokemon...
no subject
Yeah. We're tasty to monsters—or convenient targets for vengeance against our parents. Or both.
[He looked at the land shark that was Garchomp.]
If I were a Pokémon trainer, I think I'd want one of these guys. They look cool. The rest would be ghost-type or dark-type.
Are there hell hounds?
no subject
[Poor Nico... Kieran actually feels bad for him. At least he doesn't have to fight here?]
Yeah, they're real tough. Champion Cynthia from Sinnoh has one as her ace, and she hardly ever loses with it.
[Of all the Champions, Cynthia certainly was one of the toughest, and her Garchomp was no joke either.]
Hell hounds..? [Kieran has to pause, pondering for a moment. Knowing what he does of Nico, a Ghost-type or Dark-type would be fitting for him. As for hell hounds... well, the only hounds he knows of that are also Dark-type... he takes a minute to cycle through his Pokedex before pulling up another picture.]
Well, there's Houndour and Houndoom. Would those be considered hell hounds?
no subject
[He blows out a sigh.] But hopefully there won't be another for a while.
[He watches as Kieran pulls up the Houndour and Houndoom on his pokedex.]
Oh, those are cool. Def reminds me of the hellhounds in Father's domain.
no subject
[He's a war veteran?? Kieran can't even remember any wars happening in his lifetime... just what kind of crazy life does Nico live back home??]
[Well, in any case, Nico's looking at the Pokedex, and Kieran looks up in surprise.]
Your dad's got animals like these? Heh, I guess you got yer own version of Pokemon in your world?
no subject
[Such is the life of a demigod.]
We just call them monsters back home. Hellhounds are nominally under Father's domain, but not always.
no subject
[He looks up at Nico, offering a smile.]
I'm glad you don't gotta fight while you're here.
no subject
[Nico returns the smile.]
Me too.
A good spot to wrap perhaps?
Okay, well, here's some more Pokemon...
[And if Nico's amicable to it, Kieran will show him a whole bunch of Pokemon on his Pokedex.]
Sounds good!
