Pokemon Training
[Even though this is a new world with not a lot of Pokemon in it, Kieran still wants to make sure his Pokemon are on their A-game, and that includes training. While he isn’t training to the same extreme levels as he used to back when he was the Blueberry League Champion, he still wants to keep his Pokemon in fighting form, especially since this world has shown it’s got its fair share of challenges already.]
[So whether it’s on Hero’s Rest or just an open area on Eltrut or Nogard, Kieran can sometimes be found with his Pokemon in tow, going through different battle drills, exercises, and mock fights to test their skills.]
Alright, Politoed and Dragonite’re up next! You know what to do!
[He’s a lot more focused when he’s undergoing these drills, and speaks much more confidently as he directs his Pokemon through the drills. He might also not notice anyone approaching, so you may need to make your presence known before he acknowledges you.]
Eltrut Snap!
[Taking photos seemed like an easy task, and he knows Mr. Kaveh is a friendly sort, so of course Kieran wants to help! However, after being given the bulky camera box, he can be found looking it over like it’s some kind of super-computer or something.]
Wait… how’s this supposed to work again..?
[He’s looking over the camera very carefully… but then he presses a button and snaps a photo right in his face. He yelps, before rubbing his eyes.]
Geez… And I thought the Rotom phones were hard to use…
Perfect Pastures
[Simple, honest work like this is right up Kieran’s alley; coming from a small village where farming is quite prevalent means Kieran’s quire adept at taking direction and helping out where he can. While he’s not exactly a carpenter, his rudimentary woodworking skills mean he’s pretty familiar with working with wood and with building things, so he can be quite reliably assist with the building of fences for the animals. And once the]
[However, once it’s time to actually bring the animals to the enclosures? That’s when Kieran becomes utterly distracted. He stares at the cows and chickens and pigs, staring at them wide-eyed like it’s his first time seeing them. Which… it actually is, funnily enough.]
These’re the animals that’re bein’ brought in? Wowzers… They all look so weird.
[He’s absolutely fascinated by them, especially when he gets the opportunity to pat one of the cows.]
You’re called a cow? Heheh, you look like a funny-lookin’ Miltank!
The Things We Do For Cheese
[The lure of a legendary treasure lost somewhere in the mountains is something that draws Kieran’s curiosity big-time, and is what eventually draws him to the quest. However, while he’s quite familiar with scaling up Oni Mountain in the middle of the night back home, climbing up the foggy cliffs of Nogard’s mountains is a bit different, and is what causes him to frown.]
You gotta watch yer step, the path’s kinda narrow here.
[While they make their way up, though, Kieran can’t help but let his curiosity wander.]
So… what kinda treasure do ya think’s up here?

Command your cat! [Isn't that what trainers do? Work together with their pokemon?]
1/2
[Kieran is still hesitant, given that it goes against everything he's ever been taught to command a Pokemon to fight another person. But Shadow clearly seems competent here, and the way he moves almost makes him think of a Pokemon. And he's clearly willing to compete, so...]
[Kieran looks to Incineroar. Incineroar looks back to him.]
2/2
Alright. Incineroar, battle position!
[Incineroar perks up and lets out a roar, hopping up and getting into position. Kieran looks over Shadow, a noticeable shift in his countenance. His entire demeanour has shifted, and Kieran appears more focused, radiating confidence as he studies his opponent. He's fast, very fast, which means he needs speed control, and then...]
Incineroar, Fake Out! Follow it up with Brick Break!
[Incineroar growls in assent, before preparing to lunge... or well, appearing to. He'll lean in one way, before suddenly feinting and striking in a different direction. It won't cause much damage, but if it hits, it should stun Shadow long enough for the big cat to strike with a karate-chop action.]
no subject
He steps back in time to avoid, arm's raising up to block the incoming karate chop. Jets come on as he boosts himself under their arms and aims to hit them in their stomach with his head.]
no subject
[Now that Kieran's helping command Incineroar, the cat growls and moves to the side, just barely dodging that headbutt to the stomach. But Incineroar probably can't take another hit like he has, so Kieran hopes to end it soon.]
Flare Blitz, now!
[Incineroar roars out and tries to strike again, cloaking himself in flame as he rushes at Shadow.]
no subject
In the next moment, Shadow lands on his feet, skidding backwards, hand on the ground to keep his balance and slow himself. Smoke comes off his slightly singed fur, but he's still focused and ready to continue.]
no subject
[Incineroar lies flat on the ground, eyes spinning as he lets out a defeated yowl. Clearly knocked out from the attack, and not getting up anytime soon.]
Incineroar! Aw man...
[Well, the winner of the battle is clear. Kieran makes his way over to the Pokemon and kneels down, shaking his head.]
I told ya not to pick fights...
no subject
Long as he learned a valuable lesson from it. [That he's pathetically weak. Strength is more than just muscles. Thinking about it, the cat might get along with the echidna if he was here, probably.] That's how you battle?
no subject
[Well, with Incineroar out of commission, Kieran will recall him to his Pokeball. He'll be okay after some rest.]
Well, more're less. But people usually fight just with their Pokemon. And at my school, we do Double Battles where it's two on two instead of one on one. My team's built 'round balancin' each other and helpin' each other set up.
[He gestures to Politoed and Dragonite.]
I usually start with Politoed an' Dragonite. Politoed can summon rain, which helps make Dragonite's Hurricane an' Thunder attacks hit more accurately. Plus, in the rain, Politoed can use Weather Ball for a water-type attack. I usually pair off Incineroar with either my Grimmsnarl or Porygon-Z, but... well, they're back home. So I've been pairin' him with Hydrapple.
[He turns back to Shadow, noticing him brushing off his burnt fur.]
By the way, you okay? I can't imagine gettin' hit by attacks like that would feel nice...
no subject
I'm fine. [Burnt fur aside, there are no visible injuries to be seen on the hedgehog.] If there's a next time, don't fight starting with a disadvantage.
no subject
[That's really what held him up; he hadn't wanted to hurt Shadow, and only when Shadow prompted did he actually start fighting properly. But he looks up in surprise.]
Wait... you'd wanna fight again? Even if it's against two Pokemon??
no subject
If your cat must insist, let him fight with a partner next time. [If they're not fighting at their best, he isn't going to bother.]
no subject
[So should he just... learn to fight against others, then? He may have to... maybe he'll teach his Pokemon a few non-violent moves just in case?]
[Blinking at Shadow in surprise, he eventually nods.]
Alright, I'll... do that. [A pause.] You're real strong, Mr. Shadow.
no subject
Of course. I am the Ultimate Lifeform. [Said so matter of factly like it was obvious. Seeing as there's no other reason for him to stick around, he's going to start walking off, back to heading towards his original destination.]
no subject
The Ultimate Lifeform? [Kieran blinks in surprise, confused by that fact. What did that mean..? But it doesn't look like he gets the chance to ask, as Shadow's already walking off.]
Oh! Uh... see you later?
