I think they do, too. I know Surge hates me and Kit probably feels the same way, but I don't hate them at all. I actually like them a lot.
[ Because of course she does. It's Amy, she likes most everyone who isn't Eggman. At his offer, she brightens for a few moments... before she slumps and shakes her head. ]
I want to know everything about them, but I also promised Surge that I wanted to hear it from her. I don't want to lie to her like that... so for now, I won't ask about their circumstances. You seem to be in far better standing with them than the rest of us though, which is good. Those two have each other, but they need more than that, especially here.
[ At his question, she nods, and then takes a sip of tea. ]
I accepted what was written out to be a rescue mission on a remote island. When I arrived, it was nothing but shipwrecks... and it was quiet. Nothing on the island was alive, literally. I bumped into Surge in one of the wrecks, but she didn't seem to be in the mood to talk, I kiiiinda got frustrated and hung up on her a few days prior so I think she was still angry about that. Anyways, I left to look in a different wreck because every time she and I cross paths, it ends up being a fight usually.
[ And, Amy does actually like and respect Surge. She doesn't WANT to fight her. ]
When I got into the other wreck, I literally bumped into these... corpses. Like, they'd been there for a while. Water logged and just... it was horrible. I was startled, and I didn't know what to do and I wanted to warn her, so I ran back into the other ship where I last saw her. But I was REALLY thirsty, and uh, long story short I think it had to do with the rain? It was making me so thirsty I was getting sick. I've never experienced anything like that before...
[ She looks down at the tea in her hands, and then shudders. She's glad the feeling has mostly passed; it did confirm something, though -- it really was the rain. Amy had been absolutely soaked through to the damned bone when she'd been dropped off, but now that she's dried to a light damp, the thirst has mostly died down. ]
To make a really long story a little bit shorter, there were corpses in the wreck Surge and I were in too. Except they got up, they started coming after us. There were babies, they kept calling for me... I made a hole and got up to safety and Surge came after, but I was worried because I thought that since the rain was making me feel so strange, I was going to end up like those... ugh. Zombies? Zombies. And I didn't want to be around Surge when and if that happened. So, I told her to leave first, and once she was a safe distance away, I'd follow. But she got pretty angry and started her usual yelling of how she hated me, and then she did something I've never seen her do. She uh, electrocuted me.
[ She heaves a sigh again, swirling the liquid lightly in her cup. ]
I don't blame her, because I was being stubborn. But I didn't mean to, I just... wanted to make sure she got out just in case I did turn into one of those things, if that makes sense? She said something about wanting to be a hero and not letting me take that from her. That's the last thing I remember.
[As Amy speaks, Espio opts to sit next to her, ensuring to give his full attention. In retrospect, it does make sense why Surge did what she did; Amy was being immensely selfless, almost too much to the point that Surge wasn't willing to risk it. So, she used her abilities to knock Amy out and the rest is history.
The mention of the zombies gives him pause, but that's just the PTSD it's cool]
There are many mysteries in this world. [He murmurs this in regard to well... all of that. The rain, the undead, all of it.]

Surge is ruled by her emotions, and for all that she has endured it is hardly surprising. I won't speak more on that, as I wish to respect your wishes and hers. But ultimately, this has been insightful. You were attempting to keep her safe, but in turn Surge wouldn't leave you behind despite how she feels about you.
[Despite how bad it all looked at first, he's glad that he opted to trust Kit's words. It does line up, even if Kit's explanation was extremely bare bones about it.
In the end, he's glad it's worked out this way, even if it was a bit rough of Surge but it tracks for her too.]
Give her time, as difficult as it is. I can't fault you for losing patience with her on occasion, given her stubborn nature, but I do hope that as she continues to go down the path of justice it will open her eyes more.

I had no idea Surge was on that island... no matter what I say or do, she just doesn't seem to want to come around. I feel bad for even existing in the same space as them, and I don't even know what I did. Or... or what Sonic did? She mentioned Sonic.
[There's a pause, and although Espio is pretty awkward about physical affection he does place a hand to Amy's shoulder. Hopefully that will be enough for now.]

It is a difficult thing to get into without trudging into Surge's history. I will say that I understand why she blames Sonic, even if I couldn't agree to completely place it upon him.
Still, I want to believe that with time, perhaps she will come to understand this.
If they cannot see the olive branch you extend, then it is a companionship they truly are lacking. [That is to say, they'd be really missing out on not having Amy's friendship.]
