Not Sure You'll Open the Door

Who: Roxas and you
Status: Open
Where: Everywhere! It's fun with rifts time!
What: Sometimes you've had a rough couple of months. Sometimes you just need a win. Sometimes you try to fight a giant feral hog and fall into a rift. Sometimes finding your way home is a little hard because the rifts like you. Sometimes life be like that.
Warnings: Will be updated if necessary

[It feels like he's been falling for a long time. It's a familiar sensation in a way. He's fallen before, through dark like this. Somewhere he can make out the form of the Boss Hog he was fighting. But it's too far away to do anything about now. Now all he can really do, is fall.]

A - Emerald Hill Zone

[His landing is not the smoothest, and probably a little dangerous since he's in the middle of an empty stretch of road. But when it comes to roads like this, they aren't that empty for long. He spots it out of the corner of his eye, the approaching objects and only makes it off the road in the nick of time as they speed past. He watches several more speed past in wonder until finally, things are quiet once again and it's safe to stand up.

He looks at the road, scrutinizing it.]

Was that...a race?

[He walks back along the road in the opposite direction from where he saw the racers coming from, and eventually the starting line appears. It's a bit confusing, since it's very much not where he was and it's a little hard to re-orient yourself.

But he's here.]

So, do you run it? Or is there a car or something?

Tara-Tam Deepcroft

[Roxas can't say that he likes this place very much.

It's quiet, almost too quiet, and he's seen the shambling corpses of paladins wandering around. He does his best to avoid those. But zombies are better than ghosts at least. Zombies he can do something about. Ghosts...well, it's hard to swing a sword at a ghost, you know?

Exploring this place though, there's a sense of history that Roxas is trying to understand. The Paladins haven't exactly proven themselves to be the nicest people, but this monastery suggests otherwise. That there is a history of honour and goodness and the things they said they stood for. And maybe that bolsters him a little bit.

He finds himself in what might have been a library once, and maybe there's a book or something that will give him more information about this place. But that would require a lot of searching. And it's hard to do that with books and shelves strewn all over.

It's not much, but he can at least start picking the books up, and maybe fixing up that shelf.]

Island Sanctuary

[Sometimes you race, sometimes you explore abandoned monasteries, and sometimes you go pick up rocks in the woods.

But right now, Roxas has a bit of a problem.

Collecting things is easy. It's easy to go into the woods and find things. He's good at that. He's got several good piles of things in this clearing.

The problem is more a physical one. He is just one boy, with two arms, and while he's got a very good attack modifier that doesn't exactly help when you have to carry a pile of stones and a pile of wood back to town.

So he sits on a log, staring at his piles, glaring really, and sighs.]

I should have brought a cart.

[Open to any and all other shenanigans. Roxas is kind of falling through rifts at the moment so he can be anywhere he needs to be. And maybe a Boss Hog will show up as well, who knows? Foot, do you see anyone with a car?

[ those with eyes to see will note there is nothing that resembles one car. there's death traps, jumps that doesn't seem possible, and even vines to swing from to reach other ways. ]

[He looks around.]

Huh, guess not.

[Well, that's going to make things a little more difficult, but he can give it a shot.]

I suppose I could give it a try.

Then we should get to the startin' line.

[ they can't join the race unless they're standing right behind it, and if they're willing to do this then surge'll help.

getting behind roxas, the tenrec starts to push him forward. ]

[Roxas stumbles forward at the push, clearly not expecting that they would just jump into it.]

Wait! Isn't there a place to look at the course first? I just got here!

Why are ya so slow! It's a race, and looking at the course is cheatin'!

[ they should tackle what comes. ]

Okay, okay! Just, give me a minute!

[He shakes his head and slaps his cheeks.]

I wasn't expecting to run a race today!

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiine!!

[ she's going to stand there and look at him. ]

How long does it take for you to get ready.

[There isn't really an answer to that. Mostly just Roxas rubbing his face and taking stock of the situation. He was fighting feral hogs, he went up against the Boss hog, he fell through a rift, and now he's here. About to race.

Yup, that's about the long and short of it.

Oh, and he's met someone new. There's that.

Maybe he's been stationary a little too long.]

Okay, I think I'm ready now. It's just, been a lot of things in a little time.

Who are you, anyway?

The best of the best that's gunna beat you in a race.

[ she doesn't know whatches been through, but he does appear to be grasping the situation. unfortunately there's no way for her to ask, rather, she's focusing on the task at hand. ]

I'll even let you start first.

[ hopefully no rift appears under them while they race... ]

[Roxas huffs when he hears that. He would have preferred a name, but he knows trash talk when he hears it.]

You sure you won't regret that?

Hahaha!!! You couldn't make me regret a thing, let's see what ya got kid!

[ surge laughs a little louder then she should, amused by his words because he doesn't know what she's capable of.

the tenrec is confident enough, ushering the other to run. ]

I won't let ya outta my sight.

You say that now.

[Well, there's nothing left but to give it his all.

He'll line up at the starting line, ready to race.]

[ surge places a hand on his back pushing him forward as the sirens sound out. ]

Run as fast as ya can, I'll even count.

[ she calls out before mumbling a few numbers under her breath. ]

[And with that, he's off running. He's got a pretty good pace going for someone who's still not entirely up to speed with what's going on (pun intended). But for now, he'll follow the road.]

[ there are actual other contestants that's taking part in this race, so it's not like roxas is alone. some are already heaving as they run, attempting to catch their breath, and a few others are trying to push themselves past the boy to attempt to take the lead.

an older guy manages to catch up to roxas, sizing the boy up before speaking up. "this ain't no race for you kid. let the adults win."

whatever the winning reward is, this guy seems to be going this mental direction in hopes roxas will give up. ]

[The thing is, that is probably the exact wrong thing to say to Roxas.]

Yeah right. You'll have to beat me first!

[And he starts to run a little bit faster. If this is the kind of race it is, he's ready.]

[ the man doesn't think so, roxas, instead, he'll extend one hand trying to try and grab him. a strong breeze comes by as well as a tingling sensation against their skin that causes the man to startle. he stumbles a little bit, tripping over his own ankles as the man falls down to the ground, but his long body reaches to grip the boy's leg hoping to bring him down. ]

[Not this time, and Roxas pulls a quick Reversal move, sliding around the man's reaching hand to get behind him.

And since it's that kind of race, he'll give him a kick for good measure.]

Give it up!

[ it's difficult, but as he tries to get up from where he's fallen only to be kicked back down, the man growls underneath his breath with a glare. what's that boy's problem, who does he think he is? this isn't fun and games, this is a race, there's something to be won, and roxas stands in his way.

there's another attempt to try and get up, his eyes trying to follow the youth, he thinks that he has one of those fancy smancy spells that allowed for that.

a cheater is what he is!!

"you'll regret that..."

he waits for roxas to make some distance before the guy gets up, dusting himself off, and walking off of the racetrack. even with the finish line in sight, the man appears to take his leave, there's another race he should look into. ]

[It is a race, and Roxas does take competitions seriously, so he'll probably try to apologize once the race is over. He's just that kind of guy. But for now, that's the way it goes, and he continues on.

After all, he can see the finish line and starts to speed up.]

[ now when he gets to the finish line, he'll see that one tenrec from awhile ago... already there. ]

Why are you so slow! I was waitin' forever.

[ tapping her foot against the ground, she walks over to roxas with an annoyed expression, but at least he finally made it past the finish... ]

[Well that hardly seems fair. Roxas huffs.]

Some guy on the track tried to slow me down. Threw me off.

[ totally fair, don't worry. he must have felt her when she dashed by! ]

Oh, I saw that guy! Old, bald guy, I messed with'em a bit, but he still got you fucked up?

[ amazing... ]

Nah, he tried, but I got around him. And then kicked him.

[Yeah, he should probably apologize.]

What did you do?

Oh, y'know! Just dashed by and all, probably couldn't take it. But... that guy was kinda weird.

[ did roxas notice that or was it her? ]

As I was hangin' back, I saw three other guys point at him, and they had like a... bag. Pretty big one, like... As big as you?

[ she thinks. ]
