[Well he never really thought about taking up an instrument, but since he was here and they were offering, why not? So he has the guitar, plucking away at the basic chords and melodies they provided. He's at least got the basics! That much he could do.

Bit harder than it looks. Let's see it was...
[If anyone would like to share some advice, he'd be welcome to them. And eventually he'll get it down enough to have that special enchantment cast on the instrument. In his case, upon finishing playing a song, the listener will fall asleep and talk in their sleep. Really he doesn't want to actually use this on anyone so he's going to still try practicing on his own, but if someone happens to pass by and get hit, well. He'll keep your dreams safe.]

⚡ b » magitech madness
[While he had been quite enthusiastic about learning more about the magitech of this world and how it's used to better advance way of living, the inevitable path towards weaponry gives him pause. Before he wouldn't have thought much of it—natural progression of technology, and while there are fortunately no wars going on, the world is far from "safe." However, he still recalls what Mid told him before, so he has some mixed feelings.
Still, a necessity is a necessity, and perhaps if he can work on making such weaponry safe, perhaps even create non-lethal alternatives, it might make things more palpable. And this is something where his lightning may actually come in handy.
He's created some small bombs infused with his lightning and other components he's managed to engineer, and he's picked an isolated area outside of Nogard to test them. Some are pure destructive force, with thunderous explosive power. But a few smaller ones he test only spreads a small discharge of lightning set to weaken, paralyze, and/or stun the target.
Of course, the one he first tests is a bit stronger, the wooden target becoming charred when...]
That shouldn't happen. Damn, going to need a lower output...not to mention the efficiency... Well let's see if we can't at least get it to work first.
[A curious look as he turns the small sphere around in his hands before tossing it up like a ball, his levin circulating around it before it enters. Assistance in development is always welcome! Or accidentally get hit by one. Some other aspects of this he'll be working on is size, various mechanisms to launch these, and safety features, like needing a focused spark of magic to activate them.
Eventually he'll have it down and will want to take it to some live testing against monsters and bounties. So this quest can combo with a bounty!]

⚡ c » poke 'n prance
[Now this is a simple and easy quest, and he wants that Bottle of Boundless Coffee. Or two. Or however many he can get because can never have too many. Not to mention he's a lot of experience in his former years in teaching sword fighting.
So he is quite ready and willing to step up to help, a friendly if challenging grin towards his opponent, his left hand idly resting on of his two swords as he hasn't drawn his just yet.]

[There will be two bounties Cid is interested in, one with a very personal interest in.

🎄 all i want for winterstide is...
That was all she got from him one rather innocuous morning. Or maybe that was the point. At any rate, Benedikta leaves him on read, as usual, but when had that ever meant she wouldn't come? Now that she thinks back, there hadn't been a time when she didn't... but this time, her curiosity actually gets the better of her, unlike those other days when she'd spent every last bit of her strength trying to avoid him.
Not this time. And no, not even after that mishap with the toy island, which had just been stupid for everyone involved. Though, she still can't get those images of him using his beard to do the work of his hands out of her head...
Anyway.
She doesn't fly there to meet him this time—no need to if he is on Nogard—so he should expect her no later than an hour after his message, if only to make sure that he is already there by the time that she arrives.
Now where is he...?]

In any case, there is a box at Cid's feet and he's signing the clipboard, giving his usual casual smile, making a joking quip to which the seagull giggles and brushes her wing against his shoulder as if to playfully smack him. Cid doesn't think anything of it, but it does mean he won't notice Benedikta approaching...]
no subject
Something hot flares up in Benedikta's chest, sharp like a scorching knife, and with a frown, she storms down the pier, hoping to make her presence known with her boots stomping loudly against the wooden docks towards him. The seagull makes a sound of surprise when there's a sudden gust of wind, almost knocking the clipboard right out of her feathers with the force of it.]
I was looking for you.
[And from behind, she slips her arm right through Cid's without a beat of hesitation, ignoring the confused huffing sounds that the other girl is making.]

And if she can get to taste this coffee drink Rem's told her about, that's a bonus.]
Fun with sharp implements? [Jill raises her eyebrows in amusement, stepping closer to Cid twice.] I would have expected better hobbies from you.
[There's level of comfort she's showing solely because it's Cid. Jill knows that he will stick to the rules here and that's why she's seems fine with this strange task they're taken on. Anybody else—other than obvious parties related to the Hideaway—wouldn't get that from her.]
no subject
[A light chuckle and wink.]
Now, I believe you haven't had proper training before, aye? I'll try not to go too hard on you.
[So Clive doesn't try and come after him later—]
no subject
[Secretly, she's grateful Cid will go easy on her. Ignoring the trash talking going on between them, Jill knows full well the man is far more skilled in the swordarts. She expects to end up on her rear at least once or twice during this little skirmish.]
I spent many a day watching Clive during his days of shield training, but with that being so many years ago, my memory has faded quite a bit.

Hah, given how I've never had to deal with an opponent of your caliber, I might appreciate it.
[Sure, he's a former general, but that doesn't mean he can't learn new things. Especially when there are different techniques and styles all over and a refresher never hurts.]
You're not going to turn your arm into a weapon now, are you?

I can only do living creature transformations. So don't expect a sword or anything.

[ Emet-Selch has just emerged into the testing yard himself when a thunderous BOOM shakes the area. He flinches, almost dropping the gunblade prototype in his hands. His ears ring dully from the sound. ]
At least you weren't foolish enough to set that off indoors, [ he grouses once he's less disoriented. ] Some here seem to think enthusiasm is sufficient compensation for blown-off limbs.
no subject
[Just a run of his hand through his hair as he glances at the newcomer. Whoops.]
Aye, I may be eager, but not so careless. Though perhaps I need a bigger area with the way these are going.
[Such small things, yet quite powerful, so he at least got those on the mark.
As he walks over to pick up the remains, he glances over at what Emet-Selch is holding.]
If you're here to test something yourself, I can take a break. Wouldn't want to get in your way.
[Especially with, well. Explosive prototypes.]
no subject
I'm fairly certain I built it well. 'Tis not far off the early firearms I oversaw development of.
[ Of course, nothing is certain... But Emet-Selch walks up and takes his place at the safety line and - after a last minute thought - holds the gunblade out straight ahead of him. Not a stable pose for aiming but he doesn't want the thing to blow up directly in his face if he's wrong.
Cid gets to have a good look at the weapon now: it seems to be something like a two-barrel pistol with a sword blade extending out between the barrels. The handle has a lever (like a modern bicycle brake) which Emet-Selch now squeezes.
BANG!
Emet-Selch flinches and drops the weapon as he cradles his hand. Nothing is bleeding but, shite, that hurt. ]

So he's crouched down in front of the scaffolding with a hammer to dig the nails out. He's certainly an attractive target to mischievous Corsairs.
While digging out a particularly difficult nail with a good yank, a tomato splats on the back of his armor and he turns and offers a glare at a retreating back. Dion just sighs and gives another good yank, taking a step back to get that nail out.

needless to say, cid contacting him about taking out this monster once and for all was hardly surprising. equally unsurprising was eizen agreeing to join him on this hunt. they would settle things once and for all.
eizen pauses in his steps and surveys their surroundings as they arrive in the area where the tiny beast is said to reside. one look around is telling enough that they're in the right spot: trees snapped clean in half, rotting animal carcasses littered about and the area looking like a tornado tore through it.]
