[Well he never really thought about taking up an instrument, but since he was here and they were offering, why not? So he has the guitar, plucking away at the basic chords and melodies they provided. He's at least got the basics! That much he could do.

A wince when he misses the fingering and a wrong note is clearly played.]

Bit harder than it looks. Let's see it was...

[If anyone would like to share some advice, he'd be welcome to them. And eventually he'll get it down enough to have that special enchantment cast on the instrument. In his case, upon finishing playing a song, the listener will fall asleep and talk in their sleep. Really he doesn't want to actually use this on anyone so he's going to still try practicing on his own, but if someone happens to pass by and get hit, well. He'll keep your dreams safe.]

[While he had been quite enthusiastic about learning more about the magitech of this world and how it's used to better advance way of living, the inevitable path towards weaponry gives him pause. Before he wouldn't have thought much of it—natural progression of technology, and while there are fortunately no wars going on, the world is far from "safe." However, he still recalls what Mid told him before, so he has some mixed feelings.

Still, a necessity is a necessity, and perhaps if he can work on making such weaponry safe, perhaps even create non-lethal alternatives, it might make things more palpable. And this is something where his lightning may actually come in handy.

He's created some small bombs infused with his lightning and other components he's managed to engineer, and he's picked an isolated area outside of Nogard to test them. Some are pure destructive force, with thunderous explosive power. But a few smaller ones he test only spreads a small discharge of lightning set to weaken, paralyze, and/or stun the target.

Of course, the one he first tests is a bit stronger, the wooden target becoming charred when...]

That shouldn't happen. Damn, going to need a lower output...not to mention the efficiency... Well let's see if we can't at least get it to work first.

[A curious look as he turns the small sphere around in his hands before tossing it up like a ball, his levin circulating around it before it enters. Assistance in development is always welcome! Or accidentally get hit by one. Some other aspects of this he'll be working on is size, various mechanisms to launch these, and safety features, like needing a focused spark of magic to activate them.

Eventually he'll have it down and will want to take it to some live testing against monsters and bounties. So this quest can combo with a bounty!]

[Now this is a simple and easy quest, and he wants that Bottle of Boundless Coffee. Or two. Or however many he can get because can never have too many. Not to mention he's a lot of experience in his former years in teaching sword fighting.

So he is quite ready and willing to step up to help, a friendly if challenging grin towards his opponent, his left hand idly resting on of his two swords as he hasn't drawn his just yet.]

Let's have a bit of fun, shall we? But if you need some tips, I'd be happy to offer.

[There will be two bounties Cid is interested in, one with a very personal interest in.

1) Monty's Python. The moment he saw that listing, Cid knew exactly what it was. Because he and Eizen were involved in its, uh. "Release." While he's also contacted Eizen, he'll warn whoever else may be interested in it.]

Don't be fooled by its cute, cuddly facade. It's a killer and will lunge for your throat if given the chance.

2) Untitled Goose Bounty 2. WELL IF THERE'S ANY BOUNTY GOOD FOR TESTING HIS LITTLE BOMBS this would be it. Well, and his lightning in general should help with multiple damage against the heads. Since this setup can go in a lot of different ways, feel free to PM or contact and we can figure out something!]

Aaah, I see. Well it's appreciated, but I'll be fine.

And really this is a bit fascinating. The thorns are still channeling the lightning, which is also still running through the vine netting. But it's more of a pulse rather than a constant circuit.

A constant circuit at this size would be lethal no matter what was trapped in it. It seems the magic adapted to our intentions...

[Which makes sense to Kaveh--Visions adapt to their masters, so why would magic not be the same?]

Still...

[He reaches out to press his hand against the vine, wincing as he feels that jolt. Not that it hurt, but it was a notable sting. And if he can feel it, he has to wonder what it would be like for those not acclimated to lightning like he is.]

Could work on the output. With such a large area, it might still borderline lethal or cause too much damage. But it's a good start I'd say. And if we could adjust this to be more like a net, perhaps one that could "shut off" the magic and retracted to be used again...

A net...that's not a bad idea. I'm not sure how to "shut off" the magic...or, really, this is all a new way of doing this for me, so I'm not entirely sure, but, hmm...

[Well they both are, so technically it's oh no for the both of them.]

If not an automatic shut off, perhaps some kind of switch since it would still be connected to the main device.

We'd have to modify how it was launched...they use net guns to fish in some parts of Fontaine--ah, another country, back home--but I'm not super familiar with them.

[A beat. Two beats.] Though, I might be able to find someone who is.

Closest thing I can think of are harpoons.

[Which while could use for larger targets, a bit much for what he has in mind.]

But you know someone?

Someone from Fontaine. I don't know how much he knows about their machinery, but if he knows anything, that's more of a lead than I had before. Even if all he knows is the general shape, I can probably reverse-engineer something from it.

[He pauses, and sighs a bit, rubbing at his face.] I think my other ideas would be a little too impractical for now.

Well, I've made things like mechanical butterflies before, and they fly pretty well on their own, as well as can be recalled at a signal. We've used them as bait before....they weren't designed to carry anything initially, but if I made them into something a little sturdier, maybe birds, they could probably carry small canisters, too.

We wouldn't really need them for messaging, given the shellphones, but for simpler tasks, I might be able to think of something...[A pause.] Well, and it'd be nice to have something pretty, wouldn't it? A bit of a comfort, instead of weaponry.

[—Oh. Well now this is definitely something he has some interest it.]

...You said they could recall at a signal. I think I can come up with a few ideas to use that concept, weaponry or not.

I actually have a few other projects that are not so "explosively" inclined, and that might solve some of the problems I had been trying to solve.

It's just a simple sound signal, but I could probably make something more long range with time, or if I ever figure out how the shellphone network connects.

I'm all ears, though. What do you need?

I know how it sounds, but given all the cats and dogs around, I think it would a good market to try some new things in. And one thought I had was a device that could release the toy, let them chase or fetch it, and the toy can return to the device.

Assuming it doesn't get chewed up of course.

But that's just one application. Give me time and I can think of a few more.

Oh--I can do that. I'd just need to change the material for something that won't hurt them when they chew on it, that's all. Give me a few days to find a material that'll work.
