What: As previously announced, the Mostro Lounge is holding a celebration for Halloween/Ghoul's Moon for the month of October! Stop on by and take part in deals on treats, activities, and the costume contest while you're able!

Warnings: One of the prompts contains potions that will induce temporary effects to whoever drinks them, but these effects are meant to be harmless. Will add anything else here if something comes up in any threads that require it, but this is primarily a log to allow creating your own starter for festivities at the Lounge and tagging out to each other as desired!

The only main rules Azul has for the Lounge is: nothing that isn't family friendly appropriate, don't break anything, don't try to get into any rooms marked for staff only unless you are in fact staff, and don't dine and dash, or else characters may face ~consequences~ lol]

Yes, much to my chagrine. Magic's difficult for me to process.

[Metaphor? Not in his case, actually.]

[ Her eyebrows furrow in curiosity. That's definitely not something she's heard before and practically everyone she knows can do some form of magic. ]

What do you mean?

I mean that as a techno-organic organism, magic is difficult for me to parce. If I think about it too much, it gives me a migraine, and it's very difficult to avoid thinking about things because I have three brains.

[Hadn't intended to share that much. Maybe it was possible for the asker to change the question after all.]

I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure what a techno-organic organism is.

[ She looks like she feels pretty bad about that too. ]

That's alright. I'm a unique creation. It means that I'm both organic and machine.

[ She pauses because she's curious but...it seems rude to just ask more. ]

Were you born that way?

I wasn't born in the natural sense, but made and raised virtually.

[And by the expression on his face, that information is offered freely rather than forced upon him.]

Oh, really? [ She probably shouldn't look excited by that, but she does. ]

I wasn't really born either, but I also wasn't really raised anywhere.

Really? [Oh no, he shouldn't look excited about that, either, but he does.] How were you created?

[It's not even rude, just curious.]

[ At first she looks a bit surprised by his reaction but that fades to a bit of uncertainty. ]

It's...complicated, but I'm someone's Nobody. A Nobody is what's left behind when someone's heart is swallowed by Darkness. We have a body and a soul but we don't have a heart anymore, which usually means we don't have emotions either.

[He watches her for the barest of moments while he processes what she's just told him. She speaks as though the heart she's referring to is some sort of esoteric and poetic "heart" rather than the organ beating in the chest, and this "heart" is connected to feeling...]

"Usually"? Is that not the situation in your case?

[ She nods. ] I wasn't born quite the same way as others. But...

[ hmm, she pauses like she's not quite sure about saying this to a stranger. ]

I think the others can regrow their hearts though and their emotions with it.

[So this "heart" is somehow connected to emotion.

And Elizabeth sold her sorrow to save him.]

Can you regrow your heart? Adjacent question: is it possible for only a part of it to be removed?

[ Now she just looks stricken and vaguely suspicious. ]

Yes. People become ...duller in that case. Every part of the heart works together though so if one portion is lost it can effect a lot.

I see. So, hypothetically, if one were to, say, sell their sorrow, would that be effectively selling a piece of their heart?

That's....a very specific question. [ She scrunches her nose up. ] I know sorrow hurts, but I don't know why someone would sell that. Without sorrow you wouldn't know how good happiness is. Or have something to keep you from doing terrible things.

[ That just seems awful to her. ] But...I guess it would be similar.

Maybe to save someone who means a great deal to you.

[Which means a lot of things, chiefly that he's been a monumental asshole.]

Well this has been enlightening, but I'm sure it's not how to meant to spend your evening.

Oh, I guess that could be. They'd have to care a lot about them and be very desperate to do something like that though. I imagine they'd also have to not care very much about themselves either.

[ And that just makes her feel a lot of sympathy for someone who might do that. She knows what its like to put others first that much. ]
