What: As previously announced, the Mostro Lounge is holding a celebration for Halloween/Ghoul's Moon for the month of October! Stop on by and take part in deals on treats, activities, and the costume contest while you're able!

Warnings: One of the prompts contains potions that will induce temporary effects to whoever drinks them, but these effects are meant to be harmless. Will add anything else here if something comes up in any threads that require it, but this is primarily a log to allow creating your own starter for festivities at the Lounge and tagging out to each other as desired!





[Prompts are below in their own separate tag headers, feel free to make toplevels in whichever option speaks to you the most!! If you have any questions at all or are not sure about something, feel free to PM this journal or shoot me a message on Plurk or Discord!

The only main rules Azul has for the Lounge is: nothing that isn't family friendly appropriate, don't break anything, don't try to get into any rooms marked for staff only unless you are in fact staff, and don't dine and dash, or else characters may face ~consequences~ lol]

COSTUME CONTEST

[On the day of the costume contest, Azul will get up on the Mostro Lounge's stage in his own chosen outfit for the occasion (he is not participating in the contest himself though--that would be unfair for the business owner to do that obviously) in order to speak briefly to all of those in attendance.]

Thank you everyone for taking the time to visit our establishment, and especially to my most creative guests for taking part in the costume contest that is about to commence shortly! As a reminder, the prize for the winner of this contest is the opportunity to have one request of their choosing granted for free by yours truly, a commemorative photo that will be taken at the end to hang on display in the Lounge and a copy to keep for yourself, and some benefits for future visits to the Mostro Lounge like discounts on any food or drinks from the Lounge for at least half a year.

The only true rule regarding costumes that people can show off on stage to try to win is that I would prefer that votes should be based on who can come up with the scariest appearance for this contest since this is meant to be a Halloween celebration, but, well, I cannot exactly fault anyone who votes based on creativity at least, if not scare factor...

[Ahem] Regardless, please submit votes on the pieces of paper I have provided at each table into the box at the front of the stage, and at the end of the night we will tally the votes and announce a winner. Participants may not vote for themselves in order to keep things fair, but you are more than welcome to vote for each other in the spirit of camaraderie!

[ooc: For anyone who is wanting their character to take part in the contest, tag here with your character and their costume! A description of the outfit or a link to art is acceptable! And then anyone is free to tag participants in the contest if they are simply leaving a vote or reacting to a person's costume and so on. Characters are allowed to vote for everyone participating if desired, you do not have to vote for only one person in this header. I will be waiting until probably the end of the month for people to have enough time to enter if desired before I count up how many votes characters have gotten, or I'll rng a winner if players would prefer that option.]

Sherlock

[ Sherlock is dressed as a cultist leader (cw: open wounds and piercings in image). He's dressed in rags (right), which appear bloodied and dirty. Similarly, his head is covered by a hood (middle) with an eye on its forehead drawn in "blood" tied by rope. His skin looks grimy and covered with paint in strange cultist symbols. Sherlock's naturally pale and skinny, so the marks stand out. Sherlock's tattoo on his upper left arm is covered by rags tied like a bandage, and to make it look more like a part of the disguise costume, he tied a similar rag bandage on his lower right leg. Despite what the cultists would have done, Sherlock wrapped his feet in rags to protect them.

He makes for a scary looking entity. However... points are taken off for the shivering. He's cold like this. 8( ]

THE MAGIC POTIONS GAMES

[There are plenty of games in the Lounge to play such as Clue or Betrayal At House On The Hill (or whatever versions of these two games would exist in Escordvi of course), but there's a special type of game that's set up on one of the party nights of the Lounge this month: the "Magic Potions" game! A large table has been set up with what appears to be a large punch bowl on one side with three sets of cards in front of it, while the other side has various brightly colored looking concoctions, and the following instructions are given as there are two versions of this game that you can play with friends: Magic Potions Truth or Dare, or Magic Potions Charades.

Magic Potions Truth or Dare: You're gonna use the large punch bowl for this one! A set of rules in front of the bowl will declare that you drink a cup from this punch bowl, and then read one of the cards of your choice that is sitting in front of it out loud to the other person you are playing with, which will be either a Truth card or a Dare card. The three sets of cards to choose from are based on the following and will say as such before you flip them over to read the other side so that characters can choose which one they would prefer before selecting a card:

Witch's Brew: Scary or dark truths and dares.
Vampire's Kiss: Revealing or personal truths and dares.
Ghostly Elixir: Silly or embarrassing truths and dares.

Normally, there is nothing stopping a person from refusing to answer the truth or do a dare... except that Azul is the one who made this punch. After reading the card out loud to whoever you are with, your character will suddenly feel compelled to answer the question being asked, or to complete the dare that is written on the card. This compulsion will not wear off until the task or question on the card is completed, or until the character steps outside of the Lounge (or takes a sip of the water provided next to the punch bowl). Any and all questions and dares you want to have written on the cards can be anything, except anything that would damage the Lounge or cause any actual harm to others: Azul is running a business after all, and does not want trouble or anything that would keep customers from wanting to come back.

Magic Potions Charades: This is for the half of the table that has multiple brightly colored potion vials to play with for fun. These ones are essentially all very specific dares to be honest, but each bottle is in fact labeled and will tell you in advance what you'll be compelled to do and are all very silly. Here's an example list of what kind of nonsense you can do with this game, but feel free to come up with your own for this, as long as no one is actually hurt or Lounge property isn't damaged by the dare. Any compulsions to do what is written on the label will only be in effect for about fifteen minutes each at most, or if a character drinks the water provided or steps outside of the Lounge to remove the compulsion to do anything that was written on each vial.]

Della Duck

[ Della's gotten into the Halloween spirit by doing a classic from back home - oh, how she wishes Donald was there to be the angel to her devil. Twinning 'stumes were always the most fun. She loves loves LOVES Halloween!

As a loyal employee of Mostro Lounge, Della's decided to take it upon herself to show people that the games here are harmless (save for one's dignity.) So if anyone is looking wary or cautious about the vials, Della slaps a hand to her chest! She'll be the guinea pig for those who are overly paranoid! ]

These are all on the level - but if you're still unsure, I'll prove it! Pick one and I'll drink it first. I won't even look at how the label! Here at the Lounge, customer safety and satisfaction go hand in hand!

[ Unless someone pushes her towards entering Namine is definitely not going to venture to the costume contest. Even though she did dress up. The chains rattle loudly as she moves around in the ghost costume, she's even painted her face even more pale than she usually is. Which is impressive! Although people who get close will notice she's got a kind of greyish blue tint to her too. She went all out with trying to give the effect of being something translucent. There's some sort of irony in her picking a chained up ghost for this although nobody but people who really know her will get it.

The place she goes to first is the Magic Potions Truth or Dare stand and she picks up a Vampire's Kiss. Her eyebrows knit together as she reads aloud: ]

[ Now that just makes her frown an angry little frown. Which does actually look more menacing in her costume. If anyone can ever really call her menacing. ]

I'm sorry! You don't have to answer that.

[ But maybe they do. ]

[Kieran hadn't come in costume, but he still wanted to pay a visit to see Mr. Azul's lounge; he didn't even know the other man had a lounge! Still, it seems like there's a lot of fun going on, and so he's decided to join in on some of the games.]

[He's just tried the drink with Namine, and is surprised at such a bold question. He shakes his head, but his expression is a little dismayed.]

Aw man... really startin' with a question like that..?

I should have read it first then not asked at all. I'm sorry. [ Now she just feels really bad. Though to be fair she's never really played any games like this. It's certainly going to lave a very unique impression on her on what truth or dare is like. ]

Maybe I could ask something else instead?

[Jean-Phillipe wasn't actually sure he'd come to this party, but the concept of Ghoul's Moon left him curious enough to see the comparison to Halloween on Earth and so far he is not disappointed. He has also come in costume, though the material is pretty fine.

These potions stations seem relatively harmless and he's fairly certain the proprietor most likely wouldn't poison children with punch, though how real this "vampire's kiss" is might be concerning.

The girl dressed as a fairly impressive ghost is new, but he doesn't really associate with too many people here, but he's game for an innocent exchange.

Until she asks her question and he takes a breath before stopping himself.]

Not exactly a casual ice-breaker, there.

[ The costume isn't really something she recognizes, but she does like it. It looks interesting, mysterious in a unique sort of way. Really, she likes all the costumes, especially since hers hides her embarrassed blush. ]

I know. I'm sorry. The person that made these should really feel ashamed.

GOOD FOOD, GOOD DANCING, GOOD TIMES

[Not here for the costume contest or for magically induced games? Then please feel free to just take a seat and relax! As Azul said, there are plenty of pumpkin flavored treats, as well as a special discount on a pumpkin spice tea and coffee blend that can be served hot or iced. There are also various cookies, brownies, pudding and custards, and of course candy of different flavors for those not interested in pumpkin. (Including cotton candy as requested by Chopper specifically to add to the offer of sweets for the month.) You can also feel free to order a regular tea or coffee, or some biscuits and soups that are available for those looking for something more like an actual meal than just eating a bunch of sweets.

On some nights during the month, tables will be pushed back to allow room for anyone who wants to use the dance floor to dance with someone or just jam out to any of the music playing over the speakers, or for anyone who wants to play music for a crowd on the stage as well. With Azul's permission, the stage can also be used for anyone who wants to put on some kind of performance or tell scary stories for a listening crowd.

Essentially, this is your regular mingle area for anyone who just wants to toplevel for hanging out and playing a casual board game or chatting with others if the other two prompts don't appeal to you!]

[Speaking of which, for those specifically looking for the man of the hour, so to speak, here is Azul! He will frequently be walking around the floor to check on guests, take orders if it gets busy enough to jump in to help the waitstaff, and generally be around keeping an eye on things to make sure everyone is having fun... and also paying for their patronage. Please don't dine and dash, he will be very cross if you do...

But if anyone has any questions or needs him for absolutely anything, feel free to call him over from here!]

[Kieran hasn't got a costume ready yet, so he's just in his regular clothes right now. But he's seated at a table and munching on some pumpkin-themed treats and a big warm drink in a jack-o-lantern themed mug. But when he sees Azul going around, Kieran will wave at him.]

Ah, Kieran-san! I'm so glad that you could make it!

[No shame in not coming in costume, Azul is happy you came and are spending money here regardless as he nods to Kieran's table.]

[ It hasn't been long since Azul invited him to check out Mostro Lounge at the gala. Really, maybe a day or two had passed since then before he arrived to check out the Halloween special the other Housewarden was running.

Before he takes a seat, Malleus seeks out the owner and simply walks around to take in the whole place. ]

You've done very well for yourself, Ashengrotto. The Lounge is as impressive as I've heard your first one is.

[Luckily for both of them, Azul is in a much better mood than he was when Malleus first saw him at the gala. He's truly in his element as he flits about among guests to check on them and advertise the newer additions to the menu and so on. No sign at all that just two days prior, Azul had been crying in the garden of that party they reunited in.

Upon Malleus approaching him, Azul initially seems a little surprised to actually see him here, but then proceeds to smile brightly, giving a polite bow of the head in greeting.]

Ah, Malleus-san! I'm so glad that you could make it, and I am truly quite grateful for your compliments. Is there anything I can do to help make your visit more pleasant here?

[Kaveh's mostly here to support Azul, so he's not partaking in the games--though he is watching them pretty curiously. He has, however, shown up in costume--and brought his dutar with him, so he'll be playing it on request if you want to hear it!

Unfortunately he also brought his husband so please take care looking into the dark corners of the Monstro Lounge.]

Sherlock

[ Sherlock dresses as a cultist, and the hood means Sherlock cannot partake of the food and drink offered. (Thus unable to participate in the games as he can't drink the potions.) He pitches his voice lower as well to add to his look.

People can find him hovering near any source of heat because he is suffering for this outfit and exposing so much skin. Maybe someone find him a coat or blanket to borrow and help him out? ]

[ He was trying to be as convincing as possible. He has regrets, but already he made concessions for his comfort like the hood and bandages covering his feet for some semblance of modesty and protection. Anything more would ruin what he was attempting. ]

I cannot drink anything like this. The hood lacks a mouth hole.

[ How does one eat and drink with so much makeup on? That's the question of the moment. The smells vaguely remind her of Little Chef's place and there's an excitement swirling in her at the possibility of trying so many new things. Does this mean she's going to be trying literally everything?

Yes. Yes it does. The chains on her ghost costume clank together as she piles pumpkin muffins, cookies, cake pops, and a variety of non pumpkin items onto her plate. It's a ridiculous amount of stuff, enough to surely make her sick if she really eats it all, but she's determined to not let anything go untasted.

She's also got a pumpkin spice coffee piled with pumpkin cold foam cream that she makes a point of trying first. Maybe someone should point out she's got a bit of the foam on her nose. ]

[ Don't mind this creepy-looking cultist guy coming closer. He's actually harmless, especially when he looks like he's freezing in that get up of his. The young man snaps his fingers, and a moth appears before Namine. It looks like the ones that swarmed certain people a small while back. The moth "flaps" its wings as the light projection switches from a wings up version and a wings down one. Sherlock is still working on proper movement of his projections, but this is progress regardless. ]

Are you a specific ghost? Jacob Marley, perhaps?

They've taken a table as far in the corner as possible and covered it with orders of various treats--a slice of pumpkin pie, a couple pastries, some pudding, cotton candy, a big iced pumpkin spice coffee--and are now sitting there casually snacking and putting up an aura of being deeply uninteresting and not worth bothering... which pretty much anyone familiar with them or who has a reason to bother them will be able to see right through.)

[Listen, on a good day, Leona wouldn't be here. Parties aren't really much his thing even if the students and faculty back at Night Raven seems to use every holiday as a reason to celebrate. Halloween is practically a week-long event back on campus, after all. So, Leona isn't really a stranger to having to dress up and play nice with other people, especially laymen.

But here?

Leona's found a nice secluded corner of the establishment, somewhere quiet enough from the music and dancing, and...
