[Since Joshua's brother Clive's sudden departure into the rifts, a certain gaggle of brightly colours birds have been left behind to manage. While the crew has divided the work up thus far, Joshua feels as though the task of taking care of the island's local chocobos should be mostly his responsibility.

Now he finds himself in the middle of the makeshift pen holding out two very large, very juicy radishes out like they're vegetable-shaped swords.]

Now... Please. Let's try this again, shall we? Please be gentle when taking your treats.

[The chocobos are starting to coo and whistle sweetly at him. But they're also starting to crowd in closer and closer... And it looks as though Joshua is going to be mauled under a mountain of feathery friends if he doesn't get a hand with feeding them soon.]

[ 📌 b. manta board: out of the blue]

[Joshua may be aboard The Enterprise, The Stormbringer or any one of the neutral ships for this quest while going out to sea in search of the ever elusive and rare gemstone sharks. The early springtime air is still chilly on the wind but it's a beautiful sunny day for trying to find some exotic or dangerous fish.

Although, Joshua isn't sure how dangerous they will actually be or not. When he sees one swimming serenely through the icy water, he can't help but to watch it with some awe. And these creatures are certainly worthy of awe.]

It seems almost a shame to capture them...

[📌 c. bounty: bear necessities]

[On Eltrut, Joshua is on a mission to help track down and apprehend the thief that has been stealing ... women's panties. It's an outrageous crime and one that should be stopped immediately!

... Please ignore the way his face is blushing mad?]

We must find this man and force him to face the reality of his crimes. Immediately...!

[Perhaps Joshua has a personal stake in this bounty? Maybe someone took- his undergarments. Not that he would ever admit such a thing since he is not, in fact, a woman!? He is a gentleman!]

Be careful!

[Joshua shouts cautiously! The sharks are becoming more aggressive and unruly...! But it seems the hedgehog does keep it under control.

... At least enough to punch that one out of the way. The shark recoils and kicks up in the water so hard that it jumps upwards like a flying fish. It happens so suddenly that it nearly beans Joshua right in the head with its thick, whipping tail.]

Agh!?

[He shouts but is knocked clear over the railing of the ship and starts falling down below...!]

[Hmph. They should be more concern about themselves than him. Sure enough, he hears a shout from above, just as he narrowly avoids a tail swing from another shark himself. There's a sharp pain from his right arm as the shark passes though, a cut forming where it struck. Careless of him.

He ignores it, focused on making sure he gets to Joshua before the sharks do. He jets beneath him, arms extended to catch him. The main rope they were supposed to be watching starts to slip off the side.]

[He's falling. His head is still dizzy from the hit, so it's disorienting for him to be caught.]

[If that rope loosens and they lose it into the water, the sharks will escape ...! Joshua has no choice. He suddenly pushes the hedgehog so he lets go.

Only for Joshua's skin to ignite in a flurry of red glowing patterns that looks like fire and burns opening on his skin. And without warning, two large feathery wings burst out of Joshua's back. It looks like they're made entirely out of magic flames.

He kicks up, shooting quickly for the rope. He tries to grab it before it's too late.]

[A moment of confusion until...ah. The boy can fly.

...

Why didn't they do that in the first place?] Tch. [Mildly irritated, he'll help with grabbing onto the rope in case it slips away from Joshua. Feeling a heavy tug from the the sharks trying to flee below.] Do you have it?!

[Because fire wings and being close quarters to the water don't mix well-

But right now, they can't argue that comfort. Joshua grabs the rope and flies upwards to pull it tightly, which cinches up the sharks they've caught.]

I've got it!

[wherethereislight]

[Shadow waits a moment after their confirmation before letting go.] Pay attention! [His tone is harsh, but further inconvenience could prove detrimental. On that note, he should pick up pace before something else happens.

There will be a sharp tug on the rope as Shadow gets the third shark into the pod. His right arm feels numb, but there's just one more they need-] -!! [The side of the boat shakes slightly as Shadow slams into it's side. A shark had lunged at him, his shoe in it's maw to keep it from trying to get a chomp on him.]

[He understands, Joshua does not want to lose this catch either. They have to secure them and finish this. He pulls again, securing the rope as tightly as he can.

He can't leave the hedgehog with his foot caught. This will take some precise casting...]

Shield your eyes!

[And Joshua casts a fire spell at the shark to stun it sharply.]

[Hearing the command, he does so without question. There's a flash of light and a bit of heat from it. Kid's specialty seems to be fire it seems. Soon as he starts feeling less pressure against his shoe, he doesn't waste time swinging a punch into the stupid shark's snout to add insult to injury.

As they go skipping across the water top, gems flying around, Shadow gives no thanks, focus on getting back to the task at hand. It shouldn't have happened to begin with. There will be another strong tug on the line as Shadow manages to get the last shark into a pod. Just as he declared at the start of this venture, they filled the net. The line is probably going to feel tight to Joshua, having to wrestle with four sharks now.

He won't have to hold it alone for long though, once Shadow returns to the boat. Grabbing a hold of the rope, he'll help Joshua reel in their catch.]

[With the two of them now focused on pulling down the rope Joshua is able to land on the deck of the ship again. With that, his wings start to fade and blow away like blowing embers.

And another hearty yank as the two of them work together to pull up their lot ... The netting is pulled up and the sharks are successfully caught. They flop uselessly. But their gemstone skin is as glittery as it was before.]

There... It's done. We will need to transport them quickly.

[Joshua's hold on the rope loosens. And there is a very short moment where Joshua's face contorts with pain as he lets his magic seep back out of his skin.]

[He will let go of the rope as well once all the sharks are on the boat and accounted for. Blood drips onto the deck from his right arm, but he doesn't seem too concern about it. He's glancing over to Joshua, not missing the pained look on their face. Were they just tired or does their magic drain them?]

I'll handle it. [He starts to move toward the nearest shark, removing the pod from the net. There should be a rope somewhere to hook all the pods together and drag them to the holding space.]

[Joshua will carefully hide his pain as best he can.

He nods but first he holds out his hand.]

Yes, but if you will allow me, I can tend to that wound first.

[It wouldn't do if that arm went untreated.]

[He's working on getting the second pod free when they offer to tend to his arm. Normally he'd tell them to leave it, but this world has been doing strange things to his body. Chaos energy currently locked from him, he wonders if this place effects his ability to recover from wounds like this as well. How irritating if that's the case. Would mean changing how he normally handles things in order to avoid others feeling the need to help him.

After a moment's consideration, he decides to allow it, stopping what he's doing.]

Don't overexert yourself.

Of course.

[Do not worry, Joshua's healing skills are actually what he's best at. And while magic is still very detrimental on his body at times, without a certain god of death inside his body anymore, it is significantly easier for him to cast.

He reaches out to hover his hand over the wounded arm.]

The flames will not burn.

[And a small swirl of fire will appear, embers flickering and swirling around Shadow's arm and curing whatever damage he may have. A fire-based curaga spell.]

[Brows furrow suspiciously anyway. He's just a skeptic by nature. If this turns out be a trick, he'll deal with the problem. But the flames was an inviting warmth, gentle. He feels the cuts mend themselves without issue. Once complete, he moves his arm to check. Everyhing felt like it was in order, his body not reacting strangely to the magic.]

Acceptable.

[With that finished, Joshua retracts his hand and the fire magic blows away.]

Better. Now, are you certain you are able to move them yourself? I can assist with securing them.

Can you? [It was never a matter of whether he can or not. The answer will always be yes.]

[Listen- Joshua isn't the most athletic...]

As I said, I can help with what I can.

[But he doesn't want to be useless.]

...Don't get in my way. [Joshua can do whatever they want otherwise. He returns to the work at hand, walking over to third pod to detach it from the netting. The shark within is a bit more rowdy than the last two, flailing so hard that it manages to slip out of it's pod. A click of his tongue as he watches it flail uselessly for a moment. Just accept your fate already. Rather than stand there and wait for it to stop flailing, he moves onto the last pod for the time being.]

[Joshua is quiet for a moment. This hedgehog is rather stern and serious. Although, Joshua has no reason to point it out...

He nods and then goes to silently secure the other pods as well.]

[The temptation to just toss these stupid sharks is growing. But that would ruin the merchandise. Annoying. He pushes the last pod over to the pod pile with his shoe. Now to deal with the one that escaped. He had stopped moving, but once Shadow came into view, it starts snapping it's jaws and flailing again.

He glares down at it, deciding how to proceed. It's body is not entirely covered in gems, so maybe...he walks around to it's side. He shoves it onto it's side and proceeds to punch it into it's gem-free underside. It slides across the deck from the force, and then goes limp. Better.]

[... That is. One way to deal with the wild sea monsters. Joshua can't help but watch with a little bit of discomfort. They are only giant fish and they are the subject of their catch today but ... still. Great Greagor.]

Unconventional, perhaps. But the job is done.

[Now they can be shipped off to the quest owner and they can get paid!]

[They'll probably gonna be killed later Joshua. So what does it matter? Either way, made him feel better after doing that.]

...Done sufficiently, when there were two pairs of eyes instead of just one. [That means you helped, even with that little tumble.]

[Killed. For the shark's blue gemstones... probably. But it doesn't need to be said out loud...!!!

He nods.]

Of course. The bounty will be divided properly. On that note... I do not think you've told me your name?

[A glance.] Neither have you. [He's not bothered by it. Usually it's a one and done task and he never has to deal with whomever again. So he never troubles himself with knowing names. But since they brought it up, he has to address it now, huh. Urgh.] Shadow.

[Hey, they completed a job together. Who's to say they might not run into each other again...?]
