[Since Joshua's brother Clive's sudden departure into the rifts, a certain gaggle of brightly colours birds have been left behind to manage. While the crew has divided the work up thus far, Joshua feels as though the task of taking care of the island's local chocobos should be mostly his responsibility.

Now he finds himself in the middle of the makeshift pen holding out two very large, very juicy radishes out like they're vegetable-shaped swords.]

Now... Please. Let's try this again, shall we? Please be gentle when taking your treats.

[The chocobos are starting to coo and whistle sweetly at him. But they're also starting to crowd in closer and closer... And it looks as though Joshua is going to be mauled under a mountain of feathery friends if he doesn't get a hand with feeding them soon.]

[ 📌 b. manta board: out of the blue]

[Joshua may be aboard The Enterprise, The Stormbringer or any one of the neutral ships for this quest while going out to sea in search of the ever elusive and rare gemstone sharks. The early springtime air is still chilly on the wind but it's a beautiful sunny day for trying to find some exotic or dangerous fish.

Although, Joshua isn't sure how dangerous they will actually be or not. When he sees one swimming serenely through the icy water, he can't help but to watch it with some awe. And these creatures are certainly worthy of awe.]

It seems almost a shame to capture them...

[On Eltrut, Joshua is on a mission to help track down and apprehend the thief that has been stealing ... women's panties. It's an outrageous crime and one that should be stopped immediately!

... Please ignore the way his face is blushing mad?]

We must find this man and force him to face the reality of his crimes. Immediately...!

[Perhaps Joshua has a personal stake in this bounty? Maybe someone took- his undergarments. Not that he would ever admit such a thing since he is not, in fact, a woman!? He is a gentleman!]

I get why, but why do you look like you've been personally attacked by this guy, too?

[Leona does follow after Joshua because...well, fine. He's curious and even he wouldn't let some panty thief go running around freely, but it's much more amusing to see Joshua being so worked up over this.]

[He supposes he could have worse partners than Leona to work with. They've done some field work together months back and he was a decent partner then.

But this kind of bounty... Joshua looks semi-frazzled. He tries to clear his throat.]

It's... It's only natural to be appalled by such bothersome behaviour...

Still, it's something to see Joshua looking so frazzled like this.]

Yeah, but unless you were somehow a victim, you shouldn't be this affected either.

[Shadow just happened to be on the same ship as Joshua for this shark hunting venture. Reading they could be made of gems, sounded like a means to get some money he needs. Seeing them with his own eyes confirms it. He overhears Joshua's remark, nearly sighed as he continues to walk off to the netting. He'll do it himself like he was planning to anyway. Although the "netting" is...interesting.

They didn't look like your typical nets for catching masses of fish. Ropes were tied together with a hook at each end. Attached to the hooks are specially design netting, meant to open and then close around a single shark, creating a a pouch of sorts. Keeping them separate is probably to prevent causing harm/damage to themselves? No one wants a damaged jewel, he suppose. He can imagine Rouge saying something like that. These sharks are going to be tedious to catch is what he gathers. Whatever. It needs to get done. He starts to roll up the rope to make it easier to carry.]

[They barely got out of that ribbon dance alive.]

It's nothing. [Joshua isn't the best of liars, so it's better for him to try and dismiss the facts.] I want to help the victims. This is such a perverse crime that...

[He sighs.]

[Truth be told Joshua isn't much of a fisherman. He's not entirely sure what drew him into this kind of work. A mixture of wanting to keep himself occupied and being continuously fascinated by the vast variety of life in this world.

He catches a glimpse of the other setting the netting in place and he turns to offer his hand.]

My apologies, I must have gotten lost in my thoughts. May I help you with the task at hand?

[Joshua isn't that great at redirecting either.

Leona holds back the snicker that threatens to escape.]

Unfortunately, it's the sort of crime that can happen often.

You got any leads at all about our thief?

[Shadow hasn't done much fishing either and pondering if maybe he should have taken up Big's offer at the time. Well, nothing that can be done about that now. He'll figure this out like with everything else.]

Long as you don't start second guessing yourself. [Cause he doesn't need someone to suddenly have a change of heart in the middle of catching sharks. The little hedgehog manages to lug the netting towards the side of the ship, now it's just untangling the mess so it can be tossed.]

[ If there is one thing that Claude can't do without, it's information. If he can spend his days reading then he considers it time well spent. When there's news of something that is, gasp, eating pagers and the like well he figures that it wouldn't hurt to look into it. A favor done is a favored owed and while he's looking for the oddly shaped culprit, Claude gets to look in some books.

A win/win if he's ever heard on.

At the present moment, he's trying to find the damaged books. There are pieces of paper pinned to shelves with a list of books that have been damaged in that section. Someone's looking for patterns... ]

[Alhaitham, as always, doesn't really bother with being gentle when it comes to giving instructions, seeing no point in beating around the bush—he certainly wouldn't want it himself if he was asking somebody what to do, after all, so he's just doing what he expects to get himself.]

The reason they're approaching like this is because you keep backing off and making them think they're not going to get it. Just hold still and keep the food steady, and they'll take it out of your hands in a flash.

[Joshua gives Leona a side eye... He's not really buying Joshua's comments, is he. Please, Leona. Just save him the embarrassment just this once.]

[Joshua raises an eyebrow but he has nothing to complain about. He joins the hedgehog at the side of the railing to help untangle the netting for use.]

Only idle thoughts, I promise. These creatures aren't like anything I've ever seen before.

[They seem so majestic and beautiful. It's only natural to think it would be a shame to capture one and put it in captivity...?]

[As someone who frequents the Nogard bookshops often, Joshua is also invested in the little problem that they've been having lately. He faintly recalls that page-eating-monsters are native to Elah (Paladin Territory!) so he's been keeping that piece of information at hand for now.]

[He greets the other man with a small nod. It's not entirely surprising to see the man looking into the same issue. They do seem to have a knack for running into each other.]

I assume you're looking into our little page-eater problem as well?

[In most cases, Joshua doesn't enjoy strict instructions of any kind. But with Alhaitham behind him and Joshua taking a step back the moment that he speaks, he has to second guess it. All because the chocobos do seem to squawk at him when he takes that step backwards, and one snaps at Joshua as well.]

[He frowns softly and tries this again while trying to hold is ground. Let's try this again.]

You seem much more adept at handling the birds than I, despite them not being native to your world. Hm?

[He adds a small sheepish smile. Yes, please help him.]

[At the look, Leona gives him a shit-eating grin. There’s a particular twinkle in his eye that pretty much tells Joshua that he’s got a good idea of why the other man is hellbent on finding this thief now.]

May as well. Might be faster if we go by air travel.

...Nothing I've seen either. [A bit unnatural. How do they function with those gems all over them? He tugs at one end of the netting that was stubbornly tangled up.]

I doubt we'll be catching every one of them with these.

[ Yeah no he hadn't been here for the book eating monsters that had been on Elah. So this is an entirely new experience for him. ]

[His husband just keeps being enamored with any and all kinds of creatures and these large chicken birds are very much not excluded from the list. It's a continued struggle to stop his husband from bringing one of them back, really.

And its hard to say if Alhaitham has taken the (not so subtle) hint, as he continues to stay by the sidelines and watch Joshua struggle with feeding the chocobos. Some of the others have noticed Alhaitham, however, and have started to waddle their way towards him, making their loud demanding cries to be fed.]

Perhaps only two of them, at most.

[Which would be a fair catch to split amongst the two of them. As much as Joshua thinks these creatures are beautiful, he still wants the money. He's a corsair at heart, after all.

He tugs another knot loose.]

[He looks over how many pods the netting has. Four.] We'll fill this net. [Because the ultimate lifeform doesn't half ass anything. Once the netting is prep, he hops onto the railing, seeing how many sharks were down below. Plenty that they should be able to catch what they need. He extends a hand to help take the netting.]

[There is a whistle from just behind Joshua and all the Chocobos look up! And get excited, because Kaveh (followed by a small white horse with a...horn?) has an entire bucket full of grains. Mehrak is carrying buckets number 2 and 3 just behind him.]

Don't crowd! There's enough for everyone, come on now. Be polite!

[He's gonna place the first bucket down and back up quickly so he doesn't lose his fingers, and then give Joshua a small smile. He does not, perhaps, realize how ridiculous it is that treating chocobos like chickens is working.]
