Street Magic
[While he doesn’t have the grand reputation here that he does back in the Court of Fontaine, Lyney does make his showmanship known where he can by performing some magic where he can. Whether it be on a bustling street corner on Eltrut or on the small stage in the Seventh Heaven bar, Lyney can occasionally be found performing a magic show to a small crowd of eager audience members. He’s quite good at what he does, his sleight-of-hand as impeccable as ever as he performs card tricks, vanishing acts, and making both candy and small animals appear out of nowhere. It’s after one of these tricks that he bows to the round of applause.]
Thank you, thank you! Now, for my next trick, I’ll need a volunteer… ah! How about you? Would you be interested in performing some magic alongside me?
Maid Day Mayday
[As a flamboyant and flirty peacock of a man, Lyney has no shame in taking part in the maid festivities. He dons one of the more exuberant maid outfits like it’s one of his stage costumes, and flits around one of the taverns with a pep in his step and a honeyed smile on his lips.]
Bonjour, mon ami~ Are you having a nice evening? Why not treat yourself to some food and a nice cup of wine?
[Though he’s quite flirty to those he sweet-talks with, he always keeps his interactions tame, and won’t let the patrons get too grabby; he’s a taken man, after all. However, if he sees another one of the workers being bothered by one of the more lecherous patrons, Lyney is quick to swoop in, casually inserting himself in the conversation and keeping a honeyed smile on his lips while his words are razor-sharp.]
Now now, mon ami, is that how you treat a delicate flower? You should know the rule of look, but don’t touch, shouldn’t you?
Corsairs of Victory: Nikki
[Holding a gun is quite different from holding a bow and arrow, but once Lyney gets the hang of things, he can’t help but show off a bit. While not really able to help much in terms of how to keep a gun clean, he’s happy to show off a different skill; trick shots.]
Now remember, not everyone can perform these types of shots their first try! You must have very careful accuracy and a lot of practice to do so. But if you work hard and practice every day, why, you could do this..!
[He’s lucky that his marksman’s aim carries over from bows to pistols, as he’s able to fire several difficult shots in a row. After a moment he turns to the crowd, a grin on his face.]
Now, who’d like to give it a try?
Cat Kneads
[A catfolk who’s stealing herbs and spices? A peculiar bounty, but one that piques Lyney’s interest. So after gathering information on the infamous “little bastard” in question, Lyney will do some staking out of his own before settling outside of a nearby bakery.]
If the information we’ve gotten is accurate, and if my predictions are right, he should be aiming to hit this bakery tonight…
[Which is where he’ll stake out until the late evening, keeping an eye out for the little cat. All the while, he hums as he idly shuffles and flicks his cards while they wait.]
I wonder why it is that our little friend here is targeting herbs and spices. It’s not exactly gold and jewels, after all…
Wildcard

Cat Knead
Hiding with Lyney, he raised an eyebrow or two.]
He is getting some items for someone? Why else would he need them?
no subject
[Lyney fans out his cards and lets one idly hover in his hand, before he snaps the cards away with a snap of his fingers. Afterwards he hums, bringing a hand to his chin in thought.]
Given that he only seems to be targeting herbs and spices, perhaps it's someone who needs those specific ingredients? Which would mean that either this catfolk or whoever employed him must have fallen on hard times...
[It makes Lyney frown a bit. Was this a case of stealing because he had no other option? It wasn't uncommon to see children resort to such tactics in the Court of Fontaine.]
no subject
But with herbs and spices, maybe they're trying to make something. They probably don't have enough money so they had to steal.
[Which, for him, made the most sense. Why would a cat be stealing those kinds of things anyway?]
Should we go around stores to see if the cat is there?
no subject
[He hums a bit, deciding to focus more on their current mission at hand.]
Perhaps you're right. And if that's the case, then it's best for us to catch him before someone else decides to throw him in prison.
[Lyney shakes his head, pointing to the bakery they're across.]
This is the biggest bakery on this street, and south of the one that was hit a few days ago. Based on his patterns, if he's going to strike again, it'll be this bakery.

No offense, buuut... well! In her world, magic is a real thing, and obviously, this world's chock-full of it as well! So she can't say she's terribly impressed. But she doesn't want to be a debbie downer, so she was content to walk away and -
Oops. Eye-contact. And now she's a volunteer. ]
Uh.... I actually was...
[ But before she can politely decline, she notices the eager, happy, adorable look of the children in the audience. And if there's anything that's Della is weak to, it's children. Mama thing. ]
Waaaas... HOPING you'd pick me! Ahahahaha...!
no subject
Splendid! Then come on over, and together we can do something truly extraordinary!
[His world may have magic as well, but Visions and elemental magic are usually reserved for a select few. There's something more accessible and wondrous about simple sleight of hand magic, especially when it comes to impressing children. So when Della comes over, he applauds her approach until she's beside him.]
Let's give our brave volunteer a round of applause! Now, tell me, what is your name?
no subject
Della Duck, at your service! Although I would advise not pulling a rabbit out of my cap... it's already full of "hare"!

[ a green tenrec waves her hand at the human, walking up with a mischievous look on her face as she trues to see what sort of gun he has on hand. this could be a fun exercise, especially if he's trying to teach her something.
more knowledge the better as they say, or... not, she's not really too picky. ]
First, what's the gun made out of?
[ with a wiggle of her nose, she watches the other with interest to see if he'll answer her questions or not. ]
no subject
[Lyney will gladly allow the... honestly he's not sure what she is, but he's seen weirder people here. Either way, he offers her the gun in question, careful to ensure the safety is on.]
Well, I'm not exactly familiar with pistols like this, but I'd wager it's some kind of metal.
[Sorry, he's not exactly an expert on mechanics like this; that's more Freminet's thing. Either way, he'll do his best to teach what he's learned.]
So, have you remembered the way to safely hold a firearm?
no subject
Nope. I'm not really a safely-type of gal.
[ whether he trusts this claim or not, surge is already holding out her hand towards the other to see if she can use the one he has. she's confident enough, shrugging her shoulders with a wag of her two tails. ]
I'm good with anything metal, you don't have to worry.
[ the tone she has when saying that comes off like a promise. ]

Yo, Lyney! How've you been?
[There's kind of a few things Zack wants to talk to Lyney about.]
no subject
Why hello, Zack! It’s been some time since I’ve heard your melodic voice, hasn’t it? I trust you’ve been doing well on this fine day?
no subject
[Zack wouldn't call himself melodic. He gives a friendly laugh.]
But yeah, doing great. Thought I'd check in with you. How have you been?
[You know, since Freminet was rescued too... They haven't talked in a while!]

Given his occasional transformations into a black cat, a feline disguise might seem the least out of place on him. But how to go about making a disguise convincing enough?
So right now, he's sitting on a bench as he tries to sketch a random stray cat enjoying a sunbeam filtering through the tree leaves. It... seemed like a prudent enough first step. ]
no subject
[Its on this little walk he spies that same stray cat, and the person sketching it. With a grin, he makes his way over carefully, peering over at Sherlock with a happy smile.]
Good day, mon ami! I see you’ve found a new friend!
no subject
Indeed. This cat has made the perfect model for my needs.
[ The cat lazily flicks a tail and continues to snooze in its sunbeam. Sherlock looks back down to his casebook and adds a few more strokes to the cat's ears. ]
Please do not think this speaks ill of Rosseland. I simply did not wish to bother him.
[ Or Shadowlily when she is around the cafe. Or... well, perhaps there are more models he could have sketched, but this is the cat who ended up with the job. ]

[Lyney has a cheerful and pleasant demeanour, and he has no problem schmoozing a little. But if Hawks looks carefully, he can see that despite the cheery exterior, Lyney's eyes are sharp, and they seem to take in everything going on in this tavern. Someone who's also here to gossip, perhaps?]

street! magic!!
Despite his interest, Hythlodaeus did not expect to be picked out as a volunteer; he briefly points to himself in a "who, me?" gesture, but the confusion is almost immediately replaced with a bright smile. ]
Oh, if you would have me! I fear I've little talent for magic...
no subject
[Seeing the man in the back so surprised, Lyney extends a hand welcomingly, a bright smile on his own face.]
Yes, you! I would gladly have you as my assistant for this trick! And no need to be shy, this trick requires no prior talent or skill!
no subject
Well, Lyney seems kind enough; Hythlodaeus returns the smile before stepping up to the performer. ]
Well then, what are my duties as an assistant?
(no subject)
Maid Day Mayday
He's not a jealous man by any means, so watching Lyney don those sweet, flirty smiles and glide around the room like a butterfly is really just fascinating to him. And hey, if he's also taking the time to simply enjoy the view of Lyney in that outfit... That's his little secret.]
no subject
Well now, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?
no subject
But as Lyney comes up to lean against his table, Heizou decides that he wants to play. Lyney's working, after all. It wouldn't do to spoil things for him by showing all the other patrons that he's well spoken for.]
