Street Magic
[While he doesn’t have the grand reputation here that he does back in the Court of Fontaine, Lyney does make his showmanship known where he can by performing some magic where he can. Whether it be on a bustling street corner on Eltrut or on the small stage in the Seventh Heaven bar, Lyney can occasionally be found performing a magic show to a small crowd of eager audience members. He’s quite good at what he does, his sleight-of-hand as impeccable as ever as he performs card tricks, vanishing acts, and making both candy and small animals appear out of nowhere. It’s after one of these tricks that he bows to the round of applause.]
Thank you, thank you! Now, for my next trick, I’ll need a volunteer… ah! How about you? Would you be interested in performing some magic alongside me?
Maid Day Mayday
[As a flamboyant and flirty peacock of a man, Lyney has no shame in taking part in the maid festivities. He dons one of the more exuberant maid outfits like it’s one of his stage costumes, and flits around one of the taverns with a pep in his step and a honeyed smile on his lips.]
Bonjour, mon ami~ Are you having a nice evening? Why not treat yourself to some food and a nice cup of wine?
[Though he’s quite flirty to those he sweet-talks with, he always keeps his interactions tame, and won’t let the patrons get too grabby; he’s a taken man, after all. However, if he sees another one of the workers being bothered by one of the more lecherous patrons, Lyney is quick to swoop in, casually inserting himself in the conversation and keeping a honeyed smile on his lips while his words are razor-sharp.]
Now now, mon ami, is that how you treat a delicate flower? You should know the rule of look, but don’t touch, shouldn’t you?
Corsairs of Victory: Nikki
[Holding a gun is quite different from holding a bow and arrow, but once Lyney gets the hang of things, he can’t help but show off a bit. While not really able to help much in terms of how to keep a gun clean, he’s happy to show off a different skill; trick shots.]
Now remember, not everyone can perform these types of shots their first try! You must have very careful accuracy and a lot of practice to do so. But if you work hard and practice every day, why, you could do this..!
[He’s lucky that his marksman’s aim carries over from bows to pistols, as he’s able to fire several difficult shots in a row. After a moment he turns to the crowd, a grin on his face.]
Now, who’d like to give it a try?
Cat Kneads
[A catfolk who’s stealing herbs and spices? A peculiar bounty, but one that piques Lyney’s interest. So after gathering information on the infamous “little bastard” in question, Lyney will do some staking out of his own before settling outside of a nearby bakery.]
If the information we’ve gotten is accurate, and if my predictions are right, he should be aiming to hit this bakery tonight…
[Which is where he’ll stake out until the late evening, keeping an eye out for the little cat. All the while, he hums as he idly shuffles and flicks his cards while they wait.]
I wonder why it is that our little friend here is targeting herbs and spices. It’s not exactly gold and jewels, after all…

[Got an idea for a prompt? Feel free to write your own starter, or send me a DM so we can plan something out!]

street magic
No offense, buuut... well! In her world, magic is a real thing, and obviously, this world's chock-full of it as well! So she can't say she's terribly impressed. But she doesn't want to be a debbie downer, so she was content to walk away and -
Oops. Eye-contact. And now she's a volunteer. ]
Uh.... I actually was...
[ But before she can politely decline, she notices the eager, happy, adorable look of the children in the audience. And if there's anything that's Della is weak to, it's children. Mama thing. ]
Waaaas... HOPING you'd pick me! Ahahahaha...!
no subject
Splendid! Then come on over, and together we can do something truly extraordinary!
[His world may have magic as well, but Visions and elemental magic are usually reserved for a select few. There's something more accessible and wondrous about simple sleight of hand magic, especially when it comes to impressing children. So when Della comes over, he applauds her approach until she's beside him.]
Let's give our brave volunteer a round of applause! Now, tell me, what is your name?
no subject
Della Duck, at your service! Although I would advise not pulling a rabbit out of my cap... it's already full of "hare"!
[ *rimshot* ]
no subject
I see! Well, I can assure you, I have no rabbits in my hat right now. But who's to say what else will come out of this hat?
[He gives a showman's wink before, in a blink of an eye, a card appears in his hand. Another flick, and the card fans out into several. He does a few fancy hand movements, allowing the cards to flick from one hand to the other in an impressive bridge, before he fans them out before her.]
Okay! Now, pick a card, any card. You can show the audience which one you pick, but don't show me! That's very important.
no subject
[ She wiggles her fingers, going back and forth between the options before finally picking a card. She flips it over so that only the audience sees it, and makes sure to put a finger to her beak for a 'shhh, don't tell!' motion. ]
Okay, gang, this will be our little secret. Lock the lips and throw away the keys!
no subject
Alright, now that you’ve memorized the card, place it back in the deck. Again, don’t show me!
[When she places the card back in the deck he will make a show of shuffling them again. Fanning them out, tossing them between his hands like a rainbow, before finally snapping the deck in between his hands with a flick.]
Alright. Now, on the count of three, I will reveal your card! Are you ready?
no subject
You heard him, everyone! On three! Shout it!
ONE!
[ "One!" ]
TWOOOO!
[ "Twoooo!" ]
THREEEEEEEE!
[ "Threeeeeeee!" ]
no subject
As for your card, why don’t you check your scarf?
[And were she to check her scarf, she will find a card tucked into its folds! But oh… it’s not the card she picked??]
no subject
the. wrong. card???
Uh. Oh boy. Should she bring attention to it? She feels bad, don't tell her he messed up after she hyped him up so much! She lets out an awkward laugh, holding up the card.. ]
Um, about that...?
no subject
[Lyney stares at the card in disbelief, and lets out a shocked gasp... one that almost seems rehearsed??]
Huh?? But I could have sworn this was your card! Hmm, what could have gone wrong...
[He makes a big show of thinking it over, before he nods and snaps his fingers.]
Ah, of course! The magic must have gotten all jumbled up, and the card ended up somewhere else! Now, let's see... ah, yes, you! Can you check your pockets?
[He asks a nearby child, and lo and behold, there's a card there in their pocket too! He does this with two more children as well, and each time, it's not the correct card, but it's now become something of a game to see where a card could appear. At the end, Lyney hums again, before snapping his fingers.]
Ah, of course! How could I forget, there's one more place I haven't looked!
[He then removes his hat and rests it upturned on his palm. His hat then wiggles and shifts, before surprise! A rotund black cat wearing his own little top hat pops out of Lyney's hat, and in its paws? Della's card is clutched carefully. Lyney turns to Della, a knowing smile on his face.]
Now, is this your card?
no subject
It is! It is!
Aw man, you got me good. C'mon, everyone, let's give both of these guys a round of a-paws!
[ Which she will start off by clapping fast and hard! ]
no subject
Thank you, thank you all! Rosseland, say thank you as well to our lovely audience!
[The rotund cat gives a pleased meow and dives back into Lyney's hat, which he twirls a bit before he puts back on his head.]
And to you, my dear assistant, I must thank as well!
[To Della, he offers his hand forward, and with a flick of his wrist, a lovely flower appears! He offers it to her before giving her his own applause.]
And that's the end of Lyney's great magic show! Thank you all so much for coming!
no subject
Great show, kid! I'm sure you don't need me telling you this, but you've mastered the spotlight! And as someone who encounters real magic on the daily back home, getting me invested is a real accomplishment!
no subject
Why, thank you for your kind words, mademoiselle! This was just a small thing, really, compared to the shows I perform back home. Have you ever considered working as a magician's assistant? You've certainly got some showmanship in you as well!
no subject
Uhhh, thanks but no thanks. This kind of thing is fun every and now then, but my calling is in adventure! Treasure hunting, fighting bad guys, traveling to new places, the whole nine yards!
no subject
Ah, I understand completely! You know, you remind me a lot of a dear friend of mine, a Traveller who also heeds the call of adventure where it sounds.
[Ah, it's been a while since he's seen the Traveller, hasn't it? He wonders how they're doing.]
Of course, if you need a break from adventuring, I wouldn't say no to having you perform as my assistant from time to time. You've certainly earned the distinction!
no subject
Sure, why not? I might actually consider this a break! Every once in a while, if your show needs an extra kick, you can call me up. Just don't get too disappointed in your audience likes me more.
[ A cheeky grin and wink, kidding... well, mostly kidding. ]
no subject
Well that's just means I'll have to keep on my game! It's not very becoming of a magician to be upstaged by his assistant!
[And he'll cheekily wink back at her.]
You know, you're quite fun to talk to! Even if you don't want to perform, I think you'd be quite enjoyable to share a cup of tea with.
no subject
Then never hesitate to call me up if you want a chat! I've got decades worth of stories I'd love to share! I've been adventuring since you were learning how to walk!
Good spot to wrap?
wrapped!
