[There is no hesitation in his voice as he looks at her directly, his eyes never wavering from hers.]

And you won't be alone. I'll be there to help you.

[garudas]

[And she believes him. Though she may need some more reassurances along the way, but she also believes wholeheartedly that he would give them when she needs them. Not out of pity, but because he truly believed in everything he told her, too.

She leans in to kiss him in thanks, a soft brush of her lips over his.]

... I suppose you already know that you will make a great father, so I do not need to tell you.

[ramuhs]

[A quiet laugh at that before he more firmly kisses her in return.]

I suppose I do have the advantage of experience. Though I do sometimes wonder and question if some of the decisions I made with Mid while growing up were the best ones.

[garudas]

It isn't just experience...

[She mumbles it under her breath as she nuzzles close, but when she looks at him, her lashes tickle his cheek.]

But what do you mean?

[ramuhs]

[There's just a light smile as he continues to hold her close.]

If there was one thing I regretted, it was not being there as much as I wanted. And...having to prioritize my own mission over her.

[There's a light stroke of his fingertips because he knows those words are going to cut deep for her, too. It wasn't just Mid he had left behind, but her, too.]

[garudas]

[It's not as if she had been there much either, but she still feels that light sting anyway. One that she knows she shouldn't...but it's there anyway, and she tightens her hold on him in response.]

There are a lot of things I wish neither of us had to prioritize, looking back...

[Fools they had been. Her especially.]

But I think she understood.

[ramuhs]

[A small sigh as he nuzzles her.]

I wish she didn't have to. Which is why...

[He looks at her.]

I want this time to be different. Where I can focus more on our family when the time comes. And whatever adventures there are, we can have them together.

[garudas]

You had better.

[She quirks her lip, but there is a softness beneath the amusement and that lingering uncertainty.]

I wish to teach them not only how to fly, but how to sail. Perhaps we could take trips to the other islands. Leave the Roost in the hands of the rest of the crew for weeks. We could even bring Bidowlfin, Willow, and their little ones too.

[ramuhs]

Aye, I was thinking the same. But by then they'd likely have even more children and grandchildren.

[A wry laugh at the thought.]

[garudas]

Do not even go there.

[It was bad enough that they were just proclaimed grandparents tonight!!! Great grandparents!? She might actually perish.]

I still think that it would be ... fun.

[There's a little pause, and her smile fades just slightly.]

After the... scare... I had several dreams of it.

[ramuhs]

[He can't help but laugh at her words before it fades a bit and he looks at her a little confused before he realizes what she's talking about.]

I did.

[There is a mix of shame, embarrassment, and sadness there. But there is a joy in her eyes too, a shimmer of hope for this future.]

They were sometimes so vivid that they felt real. Often, they were simply mundane things. Like I was living in the dream.

[ramuhs]

[He can't help but smile a little.]

Can you tell me more?

[garudas]

[She hesitates. Not because she is afraid of what he might think, but because of that full feeling in her chest. Too many emotions swirling in there that she does not know what to do with them all.]

Even now, I... find myself dreaming of it. Not as much, but...

[There's a smile that tugs at her lip.]

The last one I can recall was us out on the water, like I'd said. Sailing to only the gods know where. Or perhaps nowhere at all. You taught them how to fish, and I believe the whales were there, too.

I could never see their faces, but I knew that what I felt was... what you had described.

The whales?

[There's a slight look of surprise at that.]

That means it must have been more recent...

[Still he smiles softly, his eyes warming in that love that grows at the thought that she would have such dreams... Dreams that they could actually have a chance to have.]

But see? You already have what it takes in here.

[A light tap against her chest over her heart.]

So I am sure this will not just stay as a dream, but something we will be able to share together.

[garudas]

[A mere week or two ago... but she only nods to confirm.

But that tap to her chest startles her out of her thoughts, and she pulls back further to look at him.]

I hope so.

[Her fingers squeeze the fabric of his shirt, resisting the urge to drag him to her.]

After seeing Bidowlfin and Willow with their owlets, I... realized, or did not realize at first, how much I wished for it. To have all of that and more with you. And I think after everything, we deserve that.

[A soft breath.]

You will be an incredible father, do you know that?

[ramuhs]

[There is an emotion, a deep, indescribable but warm one that is reflected in his eyes before he leans in close.]

And you will be a fantastic mother.

[His kisses her gently on the lips, his heart still seized by the emotions her words stirred in it. Even though he already knew, to hear it again how much she wanted the same things as he...

It's times like these that it reminds him how differently their lives are now.]

[garudas]

[She can feel every emotion within the warmth of that kiss, and she returns it in equal kind. She is not so sure that she is convinced, nor is she sure that she ever will be, that she will be as good as he says she will, but... that does not mean she couldn't try when the time comes, right? And she would have him there with her through every step of it, and she with him should he ever need it too.

How different indeed, as she shares the same thought. How far they have come since the early days... Even the early days in this world, things have changed so very much. And for the better. Just another step in reclaiming their lives for themselves.

It makes her want to steal another kiss, and so she does, this one even softer... if such a thing were possible.]

What are we going to do in the meantime?

[Because they still have so much work they need to do. Not just for themselves, but...]

We are... "grandparents" now.

[ramuhs]

[He laughs more heartily against her lips, his arms shifting to hold her more closely against him.]

Hard to believe, eh? But perhaps we can use them as a bit more practice.

You do know that our job is simply to spoil them, yes?

[She gives him a crooked but genuine smile before she's burying her face into his neck.]

Bidowlfin needs to learn on his own, you said.

[ramuhs]

We could still give them some guidelines... Can't have them flying around making messes everywhere.

But you're right, otherwise we just spoil them so they behave perfectly around us and are terrors towards their parents.

[garudas]

Precisely what I had in mind. We will have to find some gifts to give the little ones once they are big enough.

[Some toys and such like they had done for Bidowlfin when he was just a little thing.]

And the nest? Shall we start preparing that tomorrow?

Aye, we need to get a few things for it, anyway, so tomorrow would he a good time to start.
