🦉 owl always love you.
And that is exactly the way that she likes it. The way that she has wanted it to be for so long. They have had more time to spend with each other in between their work and their projects, and have even taken a few more short vacations to their island just to get away from the chaos that is the Roost for a weekend.
Today, however, they share a project, and it is in Cid's workshop that they sit after sending everyone away so that they could have it to themselves for the afternoon. It is nothing dire—just one of those things that they had agreed to do together that might be fun and perhaps would help them in the long run. It involves making glass charms and then "blowing one's spirit essence" into the pipe to inflate the glass. Whatever that means. Well, between the two of them, they will figure it out and if not, then they will have some very pretty glass charms for their boats.
Fortunately, along with the kit that they were given, this isn't something new to the Roost. There are plenty of hot kilns to go around that are fired up with the help of crystals, and tools that would help them... hence the workshop.]
What shape do you suppose they will end up taking...? Apparently it is through this "essence"?
[As she waits for the oven to heat, she fidgets with a hammer from his desk.]
no subject
Perhaps something storm related?
[A wry grin before he looks at her more contemplatively.]
However, perhaps for you it may look more like a bird.
no subject
Some little clouds might be cute for you.
[Tapping that hammer against the desk, she lowers her gaze to it, almost a little shyly at the silly suggestion that she's about to say—]
If that is the case, then I wonder if we could mix them.
no subject
Mix our essences?
no subject
[Well, she does perk up at that, as she takes the protective gear, eyeing it with a bit of curiosity and some disdain.]
Though, I do wonder what might happen if we tried that. But I meant more... Since we are going to need several of them, we could hang them from the same strings. If, say, a bird and a cloud, they do belong together, don't they?
no subject
You mean we weren't going to already?
no subject
I did not want to assume. You might have had other plans for them. But I think that regardless of what we end up with...
[She taps his cute little bum with her thick gloved hand.]
That is what we shall do.
no subject
Quite demanding, are you?
[—and then to her waist to pull her closer to him.]
Perhaps we could create a "different" sort of essence.
no subject
Are you sure that you want that sort of essence hanging around on our ships for all to see?
no subject
[And as much of a sly fox as he tries to appear, those gloves do make it difficult to keep a straight face.]
no subject
Yes, but on the odd chance that someone does end up riding on your ship...
[Not that she really cares all that much.]
Besides... you really want to create that "essence" right here?
[Again, not that she cares, nor is she helping with the way that she leans in to give him a little peck on the lips.]
no subject
[And if he were to be more serious about it—not quite sure how that would work so he just laughs.]
Might even be too dangerous.
no subject
[She laughs quietly and steals one more kiss from him before she glances at the kilns that are already starting to burn hot.]
I think they might be ready, if you want to give it a go first.
no subject
Perhaps I should. The method is simple in concept, but it is molten glass. Have to be careful around.
[Only after giving her a little squeeze does he finally release her to move to the tools, the instructions also laid out on the table.]
Let's see... First we'll need to melt the glass. After that, we'll take the pipe to gather it and then use the maver to shape it up a bit before putting it back. Then it's just a repeated process of blowing through the pipe and heating the glass until we get whatever shape our essence takes form.
[Well he can at least get the glass melting part going as he's already collected the glass to be used.]
no subject
Is there much that I can do at the moment to help? Beyond just stuffing the glass into the fire? Or shall I sit back and admire you while you do so?
no subject
Wouldn't you do the latter, anyway?
But if you do wish to do something, you see that stand over there? We'll need it to prop up the pipe while blowing so could bring it closer over here.
no subject
[But she is going to go over and fetch it anyway to bring it over, but not before she casts a very obviously admiring look his way.]
Do you not trust me with all that fire?
no subject
[All he has to put the bowl filled with the broken glass into the kiln and that's really it.]
It won't take long for it to melt, either, if my lovely assistant would hand me the pipe?
no subject
[She reaches across the table to reach the pipe, making sure to stretch for him when he's looking, and sways her hips as she comes up behind him.
She's gotta live up to that lovely assistant title, right?]
I am going to start tallying up rewards for a job well done.
no subject
You want rewards now? Is being with me not good enough?
no subject
[She bumps her hip gently against his.]
Sometimes a little more is even better. If I am to be your assistant, then I ought to have some incentives?
[Can these two go five minutes without flirting?]
no subject
[No.]
no subject
[She pops a foot up behind her like some damsel, and she puts on a different sort of voice that is far more feminine, perhaps too sweet, even for her. It almost makes her cringe.]
What next, Captain?
no subject
Oh he's not sure he likes that.
He's staring at her wide-eyed because WOW?? He has no words, and that's not in the good way this time—
Just going to clear his throat.]
Well for starts, don't do that again.
[HE FEELS CHILLS.
But then he chuckles.]
But I think now we can start putting the pipe in to get the glass.
no subject
I will watch you do this once, and then join you.
[She leaves for a moment and returns with her own pipe, giving it a little wave to him.]
