[A light nip on her skin as his lips lower down to her neck.]
We still have some time yet.
no subject
And you do not wish to carry on in the workshop?
no subject
[A wry grin as he glances up at her before there's a sharper bite against one of her more sensitive spots, digging in deeper before his arms around her suddenly pull her back away from the wall to lift her up into his arms.]
no subject
As she looks down at him, she arches a brow.]
I do remember being interrupted earlier... so I am keen to know what you've in mind now.
no subject
And I am keen on continuing what we started.
[But once they're inside, and the door is closed...
Rather than continue on straight to their room, he stops in the middle of the foyer and looks at her.]
Unless there is something on your mind?
no subject
She's prepared for him to carry her all the way to their room, words no longer needed for their intentions have been made perfectly clear, but...
...
When he stops and asks her that and looks at her like that, there's the slightest crack in her expression.]
What? Me?
[She averts her eyes to the wall beside them.]
Other than what an eventful day this has already been, nothing more than this.
no subject
Oh? Not even about the little chicks?
[He'll slowly start walking again, and while it will be to their bedroom it's clear by the shift in atmosphere that it's not for its original purpose.]
You were quite taken with them.
no subject
Can't they just go back to what they were talking about before?
At any rate, she waits until they are in their bedroom before she even answers, if only because she tries to either find the right words, or to find a way out of it completely... which likely won't work given that he has already pretty much figured it out.]
Of course I was. They were little owlets, how could I not be?
no subject
While true, I think there was more you were thinking of besides their cuteness.
no subject
[It was a valiant effort on her part to try and skirt the issue, but...
...
As she is set down in his lap on the bed, she wonders if it is something she would want to skirt around at the end of the day. Embarrassed as she feels right now, there is another thing that she is feeling much more strongly. Something that, as she looks at him, comes at her tenfold, and it makes her own expression soften a touch.]
... I suppose that... I might have had some thoughts, yes.
no subject
And what would those thoughts be?
no subject
Silly man. But she will offer him one... after a beat. Because how exactly does she say it all without sounding absolutely mad?
Her arms tighten around his shoulders, and she sighs.]
I suppose I... was feeling a little jealous at first.
[And before he can say anything:]
I know. Silly that I would be of some owls.
no subject
I wouldn't say it silly per se... After all, I don't think you were jealous of their chicks specifically.
[His expression softens as does his voice as he leans in a little closer.]
It was something else.
no subject
Her gaze flicks up to meet his, but it falls away just as quickly.]
Bidowlfin and Willow got to have chicks of their own...
[There's a pause, the way the silence hangs making it fairly obvious where her thoughts are, but in case it isn't—]
I wondered when it would be our turn.
[Her voice is a low, quiet mumble as she buries her face into his neck.]
no subject
So there is a warmer, softer smile as he chuckles quietly near her ear, arms tightening around her as he also feels a bit melancholic at the same time.]
Hopefully sooner rather than later.
[Hell he'd suggest now if reality made it unwise. His thoughts drifting in that area, his hand slowly runs up and down her back.]
But it will happen one day.
no subject
You always sound so certain of that.
[Ever the optimist...]
no subject
[He leans in close enough so that their noses just lightly brush against each other as his eyes never waver and remain locked on hers.]
After everything we've been through...amd how far we've come now, you think I wouldn't make this happen, either?
That we can't overcome it together?
[While many would consider Cid a successful man, he always believed that when it came to his personal life and on the things he personally wanted, he had been a failure in his last life. Made too many mistakes, blind to the truth where it mattered. That is why in this life, in a different world and different time, he worked and pushed harder for his own self.
And she, here, in his arms with their rings on each other's fingers, is proof of that. No longer will he allow his own desires to be pushed aside, to lose what is most precious without trying. So that if he does fail, at least he tried and didn't give up.
Of course, there are many things he has no control over when it comes to making a child, but of the things he can try and affect, he will. And that includes those pesky rifts.]

[She looks him in the eyes as she says it because she does mean itβshe believes it. But there are some days where she wonders, some days where she worries that maybe it is a wish that is too far out of their reach, no matter what they do. But then he comes swooping in, the man that he is, and changes her mind with a few mere words and a smile.
Though, when has he not?]
But is it so terrible that I wish to have it sooner?
no subject
Should we try for it now?
[It is said a little playfully, but... The sentiment is genuine as well.]
no subject
[She does not mean for the laugh she huffs out against his lips to sound as shy as it does.]
That depends on what it is you had in mind for us...
no subject
[He kisses her, but it's a soft, almost playful kiss. Light, feathery, sweet. However, rather for seduction it's more to help reassure and coax her a bit as his eyes soften a bit.]
However, I don't think that's exactly what you were thinking.
no subject
Oh? And what do you think I was thinking?
no subject
Just that as more time goes by, you are looking forward to that future we envisioned before.
no subject
[Her eyes fall shut at the feel of his hand in her hair, and she leans into that touch further.]
It does not help that so many things continue to remind me of it, but...
[She opens an eye to peer at him.]
I am not the only one who is?
no subject
[He continues to gently stroke her hair and let his fingertips brush against her skin, that warm feeling only growing more steadily.]
Just like you, it's hard not to be reminded or think of it.
