[Willow bites him because wow!? Even Bidowlfin joins in on the chorus of scolding tones with a screech of his own. Daaaaad!
Benedikta wraps her arms around the owl and leans closer to the egg.]
He did not mean that. He meant that he will cook you breakfast instead.
[There's another wriggle, this one more obvious, and then—
Chirp chirp from the inside.]
no subject
What? It worked, didn't it?
[And he'll hold out the egg proudly as it continues to wriggle, small pecking sounds heard from inside as the chick starts to break through the shell.]
The bugger was too comfortable in there. Had to encourage it out a different way.
no subject
Ah, ah. You have to get out of there. It is time to wake up, before mother worries.
[She snorts and caresses the egg with a bit of wind, and it cheeps, almost stubbornly.]
no subject
[He looks at them mischievously, as if he might do it.]
no subject
[Both owls SCREECH, with Biddy flapping his wings in her lap and sending a weak rush of wind and feathers into both of their faces. Benedikta only laughs and frees him from her arms.]
I would say there is nothing to worry about.
[It looks up at Biddy and Willow and starts to close its eyes again..... before Willow picks away at the egg a little more, much to the owlet's chagrin.]
no subject
But it looks like you're going to have your wings full with these three little ones. It won't be long until we see their real personalities. Not to mention their names.
no subject
Speaking of, have you chosen any names for them yet?
[Both owls hoot, their "no" audible in them.]
No, I've no suggestions of my own, though I think this is one that we should leave to the parents, yes?
no subject
[They finally manage to get the little chick out, but it continues to show its protest on being forced out by trying to bury itself among its siblings.
Who are chirping up a storm.]
Who also sound they are quite hungry.

[Benedikta reaches out to nudge Bidowlfin, and he stumbles forward in surprise.]
Has father gone out to hunt?
no subject
No excuses, you're the man of this nest. Now go on, go and get food for your family. We'll stick around a while yet.
[Have to see how well he does—]
no subject
No, I will not go with you. What have you been doing to keep you and your lady fed all this time?
[More hooting, and Benedikta snorts as she glances at Cid.]
He is nervous that we will be here waiting for him.
no subject
[He totally will—]
I think this is a fine opportunity to see how well he performs.
no subject
Not to worry, we will remain here until you return to guard the lady and the babies.
[Willow pecks him, preening his feathers gently around his face, and whatever she hoots to him seems to give him some newfound vigour.
Hoot HOOT hoot HOOOOOT.
And off he goes.]
Well, that was easy.
no subject
Just needed a little encouraged from the lady, aye?
[Willow puffs her feathers with a knowing look. Hoot hoot.]
But we don't necessarily have to stay idle, either. Is there anything we can help with? Perhaps something that requires a more "human touch" that would be difficult for an owl?
no subject
But she notes the more sheepish way that Willow answers, and she takes a moment to pay attention to the babies, like she is searching for a way to explain before Benedikta listens to the string of noises.]
... You wish to move the nest?
[Hoot hoooot.]
To be closer to us...
no subject
However, his brows do raise in some surprise.]
Really? I thought you preferred the quiet and space away out here.
no subject
I suppose it would be nerve-wracking to raise a small family way out here. Do you think it will be safer close to us?
[Hooooot~ in a yes that Benedikta translates with a nod. Fair enough, they are quite high up and oftentimes they can get predators swooping in from above or climbing from below, though the former is more likely around here. Still, she can see the risks.
But she looks at Cid with a grin.]
... I think Bidowlfin also misses us.
no subject
Should have considered all that before deciding to build a nest way out here.
[Granted, it's not a bad space, either. However!! They could have been close to them from the start!!! He's also going to blame Bidowlfin and not Willow—]
But if it's moving a nest you'd like, then that shouldn't be any trouble at all. Would be better if we could prepare a suitable one...unless you'd like to take this whole nest with you?
[He stares at its structure, and while it would certainly be strong enough where it is, carrying it, and likely through flying...is a bit worrisome.]
no subject
[Not that she boasts to know much about owls in the first place, but having them just freshly hatched and then moving them might be confusing? She doesn't know.
But she looks at Willow with a reassuring smile.]
I am sure that Cidolfus could figure something out to make a safe home for you all... yes? That tree in our yard would be big enough?
no subject
Aye, I remember it has a hollow that would be perfect for them. And I doubt it would be any less confusing no matter the age—their eyes aren't quite open so it might actually be easier to move them while they're still hatchlings.
Still, would likely need to use a bucket of sorts to safely transfer them, and Willow could sit on them the entire time to keep them warm. They would be none the wiser for certain then.
