[A. Network Post - Elemental Energy Survey

The camera opens to...an absolute riot of plants. Most of them are flowering. Most of them are also between six to eight feet tall, with the mourning flowers somehow making it to nine. Kaveh looks a little sheepish about this backdrop, but it does well to showcase the butterflies fluttering around him.]

Hi, hello, please don't mind the garden. I had this put on the Manta Board, but I thought it'd be useful to talk about it here as well.

[He holds a hand up so one of the butterflies lands on it--it's a palm-sized mechanical butterfly with a crystalline container for...something as the body.]

I made these to collect ambient energy! I am hoping to get a better understanding how the elemental energy in this world behaves and how we're effecting it, so taking these around to a variety of different places and recording the results will be a great help to me. They don't need much input to do their job, but I'd be happy to answer any questions about them.

...On an unrelated note, I don't suppose anyone is experienced with gardening? Or plant magic?

I don't know much about gardens or plant magic. The best I am with that kind of stuff is not stepping on the flowers.

But I can probably help with a couple of those butterflies.

[He sighs, but smiles.] Oh, that's excellent news. I have...quite a few of them here, if you don't want to get them from the manta office.

[A bit wry:] I haven't much experience with magic or gardening, I'm afraid, but I can follow directions.

Ah, Mr. Cyrus! It's quite alright-- that's all I'll ask of you.

[Kaveh laughs, brightly.] They're made to do most of the work. You just need to take them somewhere and press a button here--[He points to a small button at the top of the storage canister.] And they'll flutter around gathering the energy themselves. We're looking to see how long until they've filled up in each location, and how many fill--whether or not you release ten or twenty at once, or keep releasing them one at a time is also valuable data.

[Douglas squints at the button, but nods. Sure, he can roll with that.]

And what happens when you've collected the magical energy? Do they know to return to you, or shall I have to catch them all again myself?

[Gale had been quite fascinated by Mehrak when he and Kaveh first met, and these butterflies have sparked his interest, as well— especially given most mechanical constructs are still quite foreign to him.]

I'd be very interested to hear of your findings when the time comes, if you're keen to share. As for your question, I actually have done a bit of gardening in my day, though I admit it's mostly herbs.

[He coughs, a little embarrassed.] As far as my findings go, I'd be happy to share. Wisdom is meant to be shared, after all.

That would explain the absolute abundance of flowers behind you, in addition to their impressive height.

[He chuckles warmly, though at least the situation doesn't seem to be immediately dangerous.]

I'm certain there are any number of florists who would be envious of your ability to achieve such results, even accidentally! You believe you've overfed them on that ambient energy, then? I wonder what unusual properties that might have imbued them with, if any...

The butterflies? I'd made them initially for a commission back home. These have just been modified a bit to collect energy.

[He chuckles a little at the look on Kaveh's face.]

I feel like you keep forgetting that on Inazuma we don't have many people casually building mechanical butterflies for research purposes.

[ The video feed from her end projects the image of Aerith, in her own mini garden aboard the Avalanche ship. Dirt mars her face, a glove covers her hand— talk about hitting the jackpot. ]

Wow, look at that! Spring really has sprung, huh.

[ She listened to everything else he had to say, but: ]

It's your lucky day, because I just so happen to be your very local florist. Gardening and I go together like peas in a pod!

[His relief is PALPABLE, Aerith, you are his savior, his angel, his guardian sent by the heavens--]

I knew roughly what to do to keep plants healthy, but I haven't the foggiest idea what to do for plants that are.....too healthy.

Too healthy? [ She parrots it back at him in tones of curiosity that are plain and even. Aerith's smile falters lightly, melting under filtered sunlight from high up windows on the ship. Surrounded by flowers and considering the image her phone is projecting, she feels at ease as she says, ]

Well, you need to keep up with them to keep them healthy, beyond just keeping them alive. To tell the truth, we probably might have to remove some of them from the root. How big is your ship?

Record how long until the canister on them fills with energy, or if it doesn't fill up in an hour, record how much of it did. The butterflies will fly around and land on their own.

The more people who go to more places, the wider a data set I can get.

Down Where It's Wetter

[ Poor Kaveh. He likely thought that he wouldn't ever run into Alastor again. Either that or he'd be avoiding the demon altogether. No such luck, it would seem, for today? Well the Radio Demon seems to be making his way towards the shoreline - a wicked gleam in his eye and his smile razor sharp.

Now don't get him wrong. Alastor isn't really about charitable work. He's not a good Samaritan by any stretch of the term nor would he ever claim to be.

Yet he has his own code and it would appear that these merfolk have made their way into treacherous waters indeed. So Kaveh can follow to see what Alastor intends to do, but there also seems to be a young lady watching this from a distance. ]

[Hey so he hates this?

He hadn't been ACTIVELY avoiding Alastor but he HAD been fortunate enough to have a lot of work that takes him off the main leviathans, so he hasn't had to worry about running into the...man(? Do you gender deer demons? he didn't ask before). But this situation, near where Kaveh's heard about the mermen, with Alastor smiling like that and a young lady following behind? Yeah, this looks not great.

He'll try with the young girl first, a hand on her shoulder to get her attention.]

Hey--it's best to leave him be.

[If Alastor's dealing with a bounty, no reason to interfere...and all this girl will do is get hurt, if she does.]

[She'd been on the deck of the ship when Kaveh had approached her, the Enterprise II docked at the island once more as they continue their "settling in". Benedikta still doesn't consider herself among the crew, simply there to "keep an eye on things" so to speak, and to assist with parting the waterfalls until they can manage something easier—or that is what she will tell others if they ask.

She's watching as some of the crew carry crates off the ship, leaning against the rails with her pipe held between her teeth, lazy puffs of smoke drifting into the air.]

Why don't we take a walk and you can tell me what you've thought up?

Of course. I saw a couple places on the surface that I was thinking about...it's not too hard to get up there.

["Not too hard". Well, to be fair to Kaveh, he is assuming she won't be flying his gangly ass on up there. But he does have a sketchbook in hand, and waits to be sure she's going to follow him before he opens it, to show her as he goes.

What kaveh calls "sketches" are incredibly gorgeous little paintings--he's had few different concepts put down about what the sanctuary could look like.]

Given what this is for, I felt like it should be a, mm...highly secure building, but not one that feels that way. A fortress feels oppressive to live in, no?

[ Don't step too far away! But he's not going to be able to stop Kaveh in time. Right the other will find himself immediately drawn back to G'raha with a sharp pull.
