Who: Cidolfus Telamon & Benedikta Harman. Status: Closed. Where: The Roost, The Farplane. What: Cid and Benedikta move to a new house in the Roost. Event stuff later. Warnings: The usual. :)
[She would never. She likes his hair far too much to do anything but play with it as she looks up at him, her smile pulling just a bit wider and more playful.]
Oh, plenty. Would you like me to list them all? We might never get to sleep if I start.
[He knows she is, but he's still going to grumble a bit before he's repositioning himself to be more alongside her. Fun and endearing as all this was... He wasn't quite lying about feeling his age in this moment. Tired, exhausted, but also feeling relaxed and at peace like this.
Enough so that when he looks at her again, there's that overwhelming fondness all over again, and while this may seem sudden...]
Benna.
[His voice is quiet as he presses his lips against the top of her brow.]
[It is very sudden. So sudden that it takes a moment for her smile to fall into something softer, those few beats of her initial surprise holding her expression in place as he kisses her brow. By the time he pulls back, her eyes have grown heavy with affection, her body easing against his in this position while his warmth wraps itself around her again.
She meets his gaze, needing him to see all of the things that she feels in this very moment.]
I love you, Cidolfus.
[Her chest rises with a deep inhale, everything feeling so much lighter now.]
... Thank you... for being there for me today. With me.
[And while it was Joshua's fight in the end, it was still partly their own. A conclusion to a long, long time of their fates looming over their heads.]
[The warmth that fills him feels even more than usual. Perhaps it's because they really are finally moving past one of the biggest ordeals in their lives and feeling much more freer to really start on these next few chapters of their lives. Perhaps it's because he really does feel like he can finally believe in everything and not ride on just his usual bravado of hope and forced optimism.
To really feel like they're righting all the wrongs that had been forced upon them. Changing their fates for good.
Of course, there are likely still a few trials they'll have to face as they continue to move forward. The heavy burdens and weights will continue to drag behind them, but even those are starting to feel lighter, especially now that they are carrying them together.
So he can only smile as he hugs her tighter, his lips now brushing against hers.]
Always.
[Always always always—how he really wanted to make that word true.]
From now on... I'll always be with you.
[There is still some guilt given he did leave her once, but he would no longer let something get between them again. And he knows Benedikta feels the same way, so he can hold fast to that belief, more than he could before.]
[He says it, and it is an odd little thing, this spark of hope in her heart. They have promised each other this so many times before, but tonight, it sinks in differently. It hits so much deeper and harder than it had before.]
... I know.
[Perhaps because there is more room for it, now that they have banished yet another weight that had been there. That empty place left behind by the hand of fate that had gripped them before is filled with their promise of always, of forever. No longer do they have to carry that, and instead, they can hold onto this, can foster it into something bigger and greater than anything they could have before.
The journey has been long, and they still have an even longer journey ahead of them. Still, burdens that they must learn not to shoulder on their own and to share them with each other. Obstacles that they must somehow overcome, but at least now, they have more freedom to do so. Together, with one less thing trying to tear them apart after all these years. It will take some time, she knows, and so much effort, but they have already made it this far, have they not? There is no sense in turning back now, and even if she thought to run from all these hardships, her heart would not let her. It sits in the palms of his hands, guarded and safe.
She knows that now.
And she believes in it. Believes in every word he utters to her as she kisses him softly and slowly, her lips bearing every single one of these feelings and promises because words are not enough. She wishes to kiss away these twinges of guilt and their regrets, and leave behind this lighter, freer feeling now. They might never be fully free from that, but it truly feels like they can start to move forward, take bigger strides towards that future that they both yearn for.
Together, they drift off into another deep sleep, to the soft presses of their lips and the rhythmic, steady sound of their heartbeats and the splash of the waves. A sleep that carries them all the way to the morning, when the ship stirs outside their cabin.
She is loathe to let him go tend to his captain's duties, clinging to him as there is a knock on their door, peppering him with kisses until it truly is time to let him go. With this new life stretched out in front of them, she wishes to take every opportunity to bask in this new freedom.
Which is why she will be eager to return to their new home when they arrive back at the Roost. To spend time with him and only him, keen to make up for all these lost years yet again. She's not sure that they ever will make up for it all, but they can certainly try. So for the next three days, not a soul will see her as she tangles herself up in him and his warmth, his presence, his sturdy company until they fall asleep yet again.
As they can finally start to make this home their own in every way that they can...]

I promise. Was reminded of my age again with that last show.

You are not that old...

[Just a low mutter as he closes his eyes to her touch.]

[Now she's plucking at his hair like a little bird preening her favourite bear.]
I don't mind them.

[As long as she doesn't actually pluck anything—but there is a amused, lazy smile from her actions.]

I'm not that bad!
