Who: Cidolfus Telamon & Benedikta Harman. Status: Closed. Where: The Roost, The Farplane. What: Cid and Benedikta move to a new house in the Roost. Event stuff later. Warnings: The usual. :)
[It's always one thing after another with this place. One of these days, she is going to kidnap Cid to their island and take them as far away as possible for as long as possible. First it was Ultima, and now it was this, but there had been something nagging at the back of her mind in the first few days that she had heard about this expedition to the Farplane.
She thinks of Lily and Marcus, the couple that they had met and help reunite and then marry on the Ghoul's Moon. She remembers their wishes and their words, and how they wanted to live their lives happily in the Farplane, and how they could not do that until they had finally married. And perhaps a part of her wanted to protect that—to go into the leviathan so that she could see for herself what sort of life they could live, and if she's lucky, find them.
Which is what she had said when they made the decision to go, on top of trying to close the cracks that allow the souls to bleed out into the world of the living.
There may be other reasons for her coming here—reasons that she thinks Cid might be silently thinking about as well, but ones that neither of them is willing to say out loud to one another.
Reasons that have her hesitating at the edge of Respite Reef, looking rather pensive as she looks out to the wide land in front of them. It feels like a whole other world in here.]
[As he stands next to her, taking it all in. He was always in a weird position of knowing he's technically dead but still as alive as ever in this world. A second chance in life is what he's always aid, but he was always fully aware of the truth.
Now, standing in this worlds "afterlife" in a form that is likely more appropriate for him, it does feel strange. Discomforting. Especially so as it was not so long ago that they destroyed Ultima. Would his soul be here? Or was it banished back to Valisthea? Even better if it was lost in the cosmos...]
Well, how about a little stroll, see what all there is in this place.
[His hand finds her as he speaks, knowing that she has far more reasons to feel uncomfortable and perhaps fearful here.]
It's certainly far different than what I would have ever imagined.
[She appreciates his hand taking hers, and she lets her fingers give his a squeeze in silent thanks. She does turn a curious look to him though, as she takes that very first step, stiff though it may be, beyond Respite Reef's edge, down the set of stairs leading further into the Farplane's land.]
[She hums thoughtfully, looking out to the vast world in front of them. She doesn't even feel like she is in Escordvi anymore but has stepped through the rifts to some other fantastical universe entirely.]
It is hardly a wonder why Lily and Marcus had wanted to live their lives out here...
[A quiet laugh as he tugs her hand to step forward.]
Well we did seem to go through some kind of "rift," if only within the same world it seems. But it is quite the place, and perhaps that's by design. Make it a little easier for souls to rest.
[It's a mix of different kinds of souls gathered in the little grove, many of them split off beneath different trees. Some of the souls that clearly belong here while others are people she recognizes from the world above, but they all seem to have the same goal, whatever that is.]
We might as well, if we are to learn anything about this place.
[She tugs on his hand, bringing him closer, watching as someone writes something down on a piece of paper...?]
[As they approach, they soon learn a little of what's going on: write good wishes on the slips of paper and tie them to the tree. The positive energy from these wishes should help soothe any souls and encourage those trying to help.]
Hmm... Sounds simple enough. Should we try it?
[Of course with it so crowded it's hard to tell where one even gets the paper...]
[Another laugh as he's shoved away before pulled after her.]
If I had to guess, perhaps over there where the other crowd is.
[While there are certainly a lot of people here, they're closer to the tree where the wishes are being hung. Not too far is another place that seems to have a gathering, so it seems a fair guess that that's where the papers are.]
[She will lead him to that crowd, slowing her steps so that they are walking side by side, and so that she can speak quieter, for only him to hear, as they approach.]
🫧 the farplane.

... Where to even start?

It's certainly far different than what I would have ever imagined.
no subject
What did you imagine it might be like?
no subject
[Said a little playfully with a quiet chuckle.]
Truthfully I was of the mind to think that once we passed...that was it. Thus it didn't matter.
Now after learning there was something in this world, I tried to imagine something, but not a large coral plains or cities like this.
no subject
It is hardly a wonder why Lily and Marcus had wanted to live their lives out here...
[A pause.]
Do you suppose they are here somewhere?
no subject
no subject
[A soft laugh under her breath. ... Why is she even wondering this?]
They were quite eager to spend the night as newlyweds after that ceremony was finished.
no subject
[A quiet laugh of his own.]
I don't know what they do here, but they could be enjoying themselves, wiling away their eternity somewhere else.
no subject
[Because wiling away her eternity with him someplace far away from everything sounds appealing.
Her cheeks flush a bit.]
I just wish to know that our efforts were not in vain.
no subject
Then I'd say taking a look for them would work well as a heading for now, and we can see what else there is while we look around.
But it really does feel like a while other world, doesn't it?
no subject
[She laughs.]
It feels more... fantastical, I'd say, compared to anything we have seen here so far.
no subject
Well we did seem to go through some kind of "rift," if only within the same world it seems. But it is quite the place, and perhaps that's by design. Make it a little easier for souls to rest.
no subject
[A light roll of her eyes before her expression shifts into something more thoughtful, and she shoots him a slightly pointed look.]
It seems that even in the afterlife, people cannot rest so easily.
[Her eyes turn ahead, to a small crowd of people gathered together in a grove of trees, and she cants her head with curiosity.]
no subject
[He then joins her gaze at the crowd.]
They certainly know how to stay "lively." Shall we take a look?
no subject
We might as well, if we are to learn anything about this place.
[She tugs on his hand, bringing him closer, watching as someone writes something down on a piece of paper...?]
no subject

[Of course with it so crowded it's hard to tell where one even gets the paper...]
no subject
I would not even know what to write...
no subject
no subject
[She could, she just...
...
Her eyes drop down to her feet, her weight shifting with embarrassment. She doesn't really do these things.]
I suppose I could think of something.
no subject
Is it a wish only I should see?
no subject
[She swats him suddenly, but gently, on the shoulder.]
I am not going to write a wish like that and hang it on a tree for all the souls to see...!
no subject
Now what kind of wish were you thinking of?
[His eyes are still shining with that devious mischief.]
no subject
Cidolfus Telamon...
[So she just shoves his face away with her palm against his nose before grabbing his hand and dragging him along.]
Where do we find the papers?
no subject
If I had to guess, perhaps over there where the other crowd is.
[While there are certainly a lot of people here, they're closer to the tree where the wishes are being hung. Not too far is another place that seems to have a gathering, so it seems a fair guess that that's where the papers are.]
no subject
Do you have any wishes...?
